Fully engaging learning journey that enlightened me about rooftop farming in Singapore!
I went to ComCrop Rooftop Farm today with my friends as part of the learning journey to understand more about sustainability and the practices in our green economy. Since this is a rooftop farm, it is situated at the top high level of the industrial building and the crops receives sunlight directly during daytime for photosynthesis. Solar panels are also installed for converting heat from the sun during daytime into electricity for consumption throughout the farm.
Our guide who led us throughout the learning journey is very friendly and patient, giving us the opportunity to ask questions and answering them using comprehensible terms for us to easily digest the information about the rooftop garden. He even explain the difference between rooftop farming and traditional farming, which allows me to gain a broader perspective of the various advantages and disadvantages of farming in our city in nature! I was so enlightened till the fact that I took away so many fun facts about rooftop garden practices and vegetable packaging information! We even get to try some kale fresh from the packaging room (thoroughly checked and quality assured by the company) at the end of the learning journey!
Thanks to all the staff, from the guide to the packaging staff, for being so warm and showing us everything about rooftop farming in the most interactive and engaging way ever! Hope to make use of these insights to reflect on our present sustainability development goals and think of ways to improve sustainability as a society!
