Comfort Hotel Shin Yamaguchi

Conveniently located at the North exit of the Shin Yamaguchi station. There is no shelter from the Shinkansen but close to the bus terminal and has a few 7-11s close by. Several izakayas around the train station so quite a few food options. ||Hotel itself has a check in kiosk and check in only starts at 3pm. Luggage can be locked at lobby using a self number lock. Rooms are clean but compact. Even a double room felt small once luggage was opened. Toilets were clean. What was surprising was that the room only had one pillow, one towel and one hand towel if staying as solo traveller. Extra towel had to be asked for at the lobby. Hotel has complimentary breakfast which is fresh and of good selection.

Affordable hotel so didn't expect too much. Location is convenient to Shin Yamaguchi Station but not so much around as would be around Yamaguchi Station. Room was a little cramped because of lack of under bed storage space. Climate control is one mode only and set to AC which is fine during the day but at night gets a little cold and the biggest problem I had was the window was so drafty. Seemed to be no seal and a cool breeze wafts in all night. I requested a blanket which they gave me but the 2nd night was worse, it was 43 F degrees outside and the draft was really cold. If I was on the bed I could hear the voices of people outside, faint but clear, as if the window wasn't even there. I could even occasionally smell the food from the nearby izakayas. I tried opening and closing the window a few times but no luck. Very uncomfortable night. Breakfast was included, was pretty small which is fine at this price but missing natto seemed strange. All the staff were nice though.

I visited Shin-Yamaguchi after a few days in Fukuoka. The weather was still cold, and it rained a little. From the station, just cross the street, and you’ll arrive at the hotel. It’s about a three-minute walk if you have luggage. Next to the hotel, there’s a 7-Eleven and many izakayas.The manager greeted me warmly, and the staff were extremely friendly. They would greet guests as they walked in, making me feel very welcome. Welcome drinks and coffee are available until midnight—I loved their lemon water! You can also use the library/cafeteria for work or reading, which is quite convenient.Amenities are placed on the first floor next to the elevator. Breakfast tickets are available, with multiple time slots to choose from. The room size is big for the price. The bathroom is compact, but I had no issues enjoying a bath. The only inconvenience was the lack of a remote control to adjust the air-conditioner’s wind direction.There are two washing machines and two dryers on the fourth floor, both of which can be connected via an app. If you don’t have coins, you can pay through the app with a credit card, and it will show a timer for when your laundry is done. The washing machine is easy to use, but the dryer took a bit long. Ice is also available on this floor.There are no complimentary bottled waters in the room, so I often went down to the first floor for lemon water and coffee.Breakfast was more abundant than I expected. Since this is a chain hotel, I didn’t expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. The menu seemed to change daily, and I really enjoyed having breakfast here. Definitely worth the price. If I visit Yamaguchi again, I would definitely book this hotel!

Nice and clean hotel although room is a bit small. Free drinks and usage of dining area is a great welcome. However, breakfast is same everyday (across all comfort hotel). Got bored of the breakfast as we had the same breakfast everyday.

Just as the comment mentioned, the location is good. 1 minute from Shin-Yamaguchi station north exit. However I’ll not recommend to female guests because we need to prepare all the amenities by ourselves, especially shower cap and cotton pad. I bought some from 7-11 near by and think next time I’ll try the other hotel with these amenities.

Location wise it is really near to shin yamaguchi station and also 7-11, however I didn't quite like the choices of restaurants around and often have difficulty deciding on what to get for dinner. I was able to leave my luggage there ahead of check in so that was good. They had nice staff as well. no bottled water provided in room. TV was rather small but had a good range of channels. Pillows were rather flat for me. modern card key but only 1 given. I particularly looked forward to the daily breakfast. It was a nice simple spread daily for breakfast with some variations (like type of bread or smoothies) Their smoothie were great.

Size of the room and toilet is very small. Location is fantastic, short walk from the station. Lots of eateries nearby and there is also a 7-11 convenience store a stone throw away. Breakfast variety is good!

Overall it was a clean and comfortable hotel. Breakfast was also good with different varieties of food. Though don’t expect much being a business hotel. Basic room category is small in size for a family.
