Stayed here a few weeks ago, will not be back and would not recommend. Our room smelt of smoke, even though this hotel is supposed to be smoke free. The room smelt so bad my boyfriend ended up having a reaction to the smell and breathing in the air that his throat started to swell up. After cleaning our room, the cleaner emptied our garbage bin and then left the dirty bag sitting at the foot of our bed. Our toilet would not flush properly as the water tank was not filling up. We had to take a cup and manually fill the water tank ourselves just to flush the toilet. We were all woken up at 5am to an alarm going off. Every guest at the hotel exited the building and we waited for about 30 minutes in the parking lot. I guess this was a false alarm and the front desk couldn’t find the key to shut it off. The staff at the front desk didn’t bother to come outside and let anyone this was a false alarm and left us all sitting outside waiting. It actually took someone else to go inside and ask and then come out to let everyone else know.

If you are planning to get a room block at the Comfort Inn for a wedding, DO NOT do it. My husband and I reserved 20 rooms for the night of our wedding, all of which were booked up. Almost every single one of our guests had a negative experience. For example: - one guest found their bathroom sink clogged and overflowing with wet toilet paper when they arrived - another guest was promised a cot for their child over the phone and was then told in person that they do not provide cots for 'fire safety' reasons On top of all of this, they messed up our room as well. It was the night of our wedding (only 2 weeks ago) and we were called to front desk at 2:30am to deal with a billing issue, ON THEIR END. We asked if we could deal with this in the morning as it is our wedding night and we were met with zero compassion. We have had multiple cold conversations with the manager since then, during our honeymoon. All they have done is offer us a free night stay at their hotel for the future. As if we'll ever be going back? I'm honestly embarrassed that we recommended this place to our guests. Stay far far from away from this hotel. Hampton Inn & Suites is 2 minutes away and worth the extra $100 a night.

My wife and I stayed at Comfort Inn Guelph for our wedding night, along with various other wedding guests. We booked about 20 rooms total. At 2:30 AM, I was called to reception due to a billing error where the hotel overcharged us. The front desk staff kept me there for over 30 minutes trying to sort out payment details, leaving my new bride alone in our room on what should have been a special night. Getting clear receipts was a frustrating ordeal, and the manager’s offer of a single-bed room as compensation was inadequate and dismissive. This was entirely the hotel’s fault, and the inconvenience is unacceptable. We’re still dealing with this during our honeymoon. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend.

We stayed for one night June 2025. At 1:58AM our door was opened. THANKFULLY I had the safety lock on, so the door opened, woke us up and closed. I ran to check the door and an employee with a clip board had opened our door. I can't tell you how unsafe this made us feel. The next morning I went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. Apparently, a manager only works Monday-Friday "office hours". I will never stay here again and I would definitely not recommend ever staying here.

The stay was okay, but I am giving 1 star because upon leaving, we were charged $20 for using the face cloth. It had some foundation on it, which will easily come out in the laundry. Why are cloths there, if not to use? Were we supposed to launder it ourselves? This is embarrassing for a hotel to charge guests $20 for using a facecloth, that can just be washed. I’ve never had an experience like this at a hotel. Disappointing

I got exactly what I had hoped for and expected. I was going to do 4 stars originally, but it was the customer service that put them to 5. They started renovations when I was there, but they did their best to make sure it didn't bother guests. I originally got a room that smelled of cigarette smoke. So, I told the front desk. I know they can't control what other guests do in their room, but I didn't want a charge. I wasn't looking to complain. The ladies behind the desk were so quick and surprised that someone had, or that the room wasn't ready for another guest after someone had smoked. So, they gave me a new room immediately, made my first unavailable and called for cleaning staff to get right on it. The room I got was comfy, so clean, and the hot water in the shower came quick and was perfect after a long trip. I only need the basics to be happy, tbh. Wifi was a bit slow, but I think the renovations had the router on that side down. No big deal. I was still able to get my work done without any issues. In the morning, there was no continental due to the renovations, but they had small breakfast "lunch bags" and you could select items and drinks and the staff made sure everyone got what they wanted. The coffee bar was nice (and decent coffee as well). I definitely needed that to start my day. I gave 5 stars for the cleanliness and the service. Really. That made it great.

I just stayed at this hotel and we were charged TWENTY DOLLARS for a dirty face cloth. The costs here are absolutely ridiculous. Karol told us that the charge was due to extra water and product to wash this TINY FACE CLOTH. A new face cloth would have been cheaper! Absolutely insane. Do not stay here, so frustrating!

This hotel is currently under major construction (March 2025). The main entrance is blocked off and you must enter via a small door on the side of the building. There was no alternative handicapped parking available or a loading/drop off zone so my elderly mother had to walk far on snowy roads. The room we stayed in had an awful bathroom fan that sounded like a rocket ship taking off and it's the only way to have light in the bathroom. The breakfast was a Jimmy Deann frozen breakfast sandwich and a juice box. Do not recommend staying here. The rate was high for the worn out condition of this hotel!

Yelp
If considering this hotel for a team booking, please reconsider! Management is not professional and has antiquated policies that are not to be trusted. Reviews all have similar theme of over charging and extra fees. Am appalled that tournaments would actually recommend this hotel to its participants.

Yelp
The hallways had kids playing ball like they owned the place. Around 10PM, our neighbor on the side of our headboard started playing music that we could hear as if their radio was right under our bed. At 1AM thumping BASS coming from the room across us woke us up and there was no answer at the front desk. When I walked down to the lobby, the attendant came up and dismissed it saying it wasn't that bad. If it woke me up, it was enough to be "that bad". There was a shady guy talking on his cell phone in the stairwell nearly all night. There were people using the laundromat all night. The overall feel of the place gave me the impression of a "bad neighbodhood". I didn't feel safe there, so we left at 2:30am to drive home, 5 hours away.

Yelp
My fiancé and I were in the comfort inn for 2 days, as our beloved dog is undergoing serious life threatening illnesses, and on a respirator. The rooms we stayed in were excellent ( first night a single queen room, the second a double queen room). We received excellent customer service with every single person we talked with. Especially the receptionist John. He was so accommodating, and extremely sympathetic for our situation. He was extremely professional, and friendly. John even said when our girl comes home, to bring her by. There was another lady, who we did not get the name of, that we spoke with as we were checking out, who gave us such kind words to support us. We will be going back whenever we stay in Guelph. An amazing experience overall. Would absolutely recommend:)

Yelp
Situated on the outskirts of Guelph The Comfort Inn hotel has a mixture of king, queen and twin rooms. They also offer a free breakfast which includes a range of foods such as bacon, sausage and eggs, cereal, toast and coffee, tea and fruit juices. I shared a twin room with a friend. The room was although it could do with a little renovating. The downside was that it stank of smoke everywhere, which permeated into our room. This is because some of the rooms are smoking. The room also felt a little damp. If they made the hotel non smoking and it didn't stink, I would say this is worth a vote of 3 stars. As it is it's only worth 2.

Yelp
Stayed here for business and was really surprised by how nice it was. Sure the hallways look old but the room was fine and the breakfast was nice. I would stay here again if I am ever in town for business. My only complaint was the hockey team and the parents who were drinking and being loud.
