Yelp
My review is more of 3 and a half stars.
The good:
Hotel location is really close to Koreatown, Griffith Park, restaurants, points of interest, 101, and 5. The room itself was really clean and the location was pretty quiet. The hotel's parking lot is underground, so it was really nice not to have to worry about any potential vandalism to my car. The staff was for the most part friendly.
The ok:
WiFi cut out intermittently and it was kind of annoying to be asked to log back in on my phone. The WiFi would slow down from time to time, and there were moments it was faster to use data as opposed to the hotel's WiFi. Choice, which is Comfort Inn's parent company, has made their hotels smokefree, but it's confusing when their signs in their rooms say smoking is allowed. It's a minor issue of updating their room posters, but it's a mixed message when the key pouch says the rooms are smokefree. Also, the parking lot and communal trash cans all had ashtrays.
The bad:
The front desk staff, while friendly, needs some training in guest privacy. One morning during breakfast, I came downstairs to get some water before I went sightseeing. The front desk agent was in the kitchen area taking care of something for another guest when he saw me. He asked if I wanted housekeeping to service my room. I declined, and in front of other guests asked what room I was staying in. I felt awkward when he did that, because that could've been any of us, but he didn't think it was a problem. After my first night, I realized I didn't have a Do Not Disturb placard to hang outside my door. I went downstairs to get one my first morning and the guy was like, "You really don't us to clean your room?" It'd only been one night, so I hadn't stayed long. Finally, my keycard demagnetized a few times during my stay. It became a problem when I couldn't enter the garage. I'd have to drive back to the lobby and get the key remade, which wasn't a big deal. The problem came when the front desk didn't verify that I was a guest. When I got to the lobby, I said I needed a new key, and they only asked what room I was in. They didn't verify that I was a guest. They didn't ask for my name, they didn't ask for an ID, nothing. I had my license out and ready to give to verify, but they didn't ask. That is a potential problem waiting to happen.
All in all, the location is good, but the front desk was hit or miss.
