I wanted to love this hotel -- but our stay was filled with issues.
My fiancé and I stayed at Abitta Boutique Hotel while planning our destination wedding in Puerto Rico. We were hoping to recommend this as an affordable option for our guests, but after nearly 3 weeks there, we absolutely cannot.
We were moved from the main building (which was fine) to the second building, which was still under construction -- loud drilling began outside our balcony by 8-9 AM daily. The doors in that building slammed loudly all day and night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. On top of that, one staff member repeatedly made loud, inappropriate comments outside our door (yes, about other guests' personal belongings), and constantly shouted about our service dog and our request for privacy.
Despite a "Do Not Disturb" sign, that same staff member and a male employee attempted to enter our room one morning without our permission -- peeking in while we were in bed. It was deeply uncomfortable and completely unprofessional.
There were other issues too:
* Roaches outside and near the building entrances
* Inconsistent service (bottled water was free at first, then suddenly $1 each)
* Misinformation from staff led to us getting a parking ticket for parking where security told us we could
* No microwave access in the evening if you're staying in the second building -- you have to walk outside and through the main lobby just to warm up food
I brought all of this to management privately because I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right. I'm still waiting for a meaningful response.
As a content creator, I had every intention of sharing this property as a hidden gem. Instead, I left feeling disrespected, sleep-deprived, and frustrated. I would not recommend this hotel to friends, family, or wedding guests -- and that's really unfortunate, because it could be a beautiful stay with better management, training, and communication.
