Communal Hotel Sololaki | Tbilisi | Smith Hotels

"The clue’s in the name at Communal Hotel Sololaki, a deftly overhauled 19th-century townhouse where cosy nooks, garden-view terraces and a huge pine dining table invite leisurely Georgian breakfasts, congenial conversation, and general hanging out. The hotel – an endearingly retro mish-mash of art nouveau, art deco and mid-century modern trappings – lies on an unassuming side-street in Old Tbilisi, surrounded by cafés, indie boutiques and multitudinous mediaeval monuments." - Mr & Mrs Smith

"Sister hotel to the Communal Hotel Plekhanovi, Communal Hotel Sololaki is near-identical in concept: a townhouse with plenty of historical character, restored and transformed into a richly eclectic boutique hotel. The difference is in the details that make each house unique, and this one begins with its setting — the picturesque mountainside Tbilisi neighborhood of Sololaki was a 19th-century cultural center, and is today home to a wealth of restaurants, bars, and live music venues." - Tablet Hotels

I was staying at the hotel with my 4-year old son. We really enjoyed it! The staff is very attentive and kind. The breakfasts are delicious and full of local high-quality, home-made products. The interior is well designed. The bathrooms are clean. The hotel has a convenient location in the old part of Tbilisi. I already stayed there twice and will come back. Thank you very much!

Had a truly lovely stay at this hotel! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly friendly and cordial — always ready to help with a smile. The rooms are clean and comfortable, making it a perfect place to relax. To top it all off, the breakfast spread is fantastic — a wonderful variety with delicious options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. A great start to the day! Would definitely love to return. 😊

Communal has the potential to be better. First I will say George one of the hotel managers is lovely and very helpful which is why I didn't rate it lower. It's located in a quiet street so no street noise at night. That being said, while the hotel has an interesting aesthetic I don't think I would stay there again. There’s no service after 5 pm or before 8 am, so when we arrived at night the building was dark and empty- honestly quite creepy vibes. At departure (7 am), again no one around. There's no elevator, so you have to carry your own luggage up metal stairs which was something we were not prepared for. The room was too dimly lit, and we had a half window that was so high you couldn't look out and blocked by trees. The split ac in the room was struggling to work even though the weather was not that hot and made a lot of noise. The water shower pressure could have been much better too and would be screaming hot unless you held the shower in your hand. Also we would request extra towels and except for one time, they were not provided. Breakfast was overpriced and underwhelming... If you eat late then expect stale chewy bread and bad coffee. Labneh and Turkish eggs were good though. For the price, this felt way below standard. Boutique style isn’t enough when basics like comfort, service, and amenities are lacking.

Amazing experience at Communal Hotel Sololaki! We had an unforgettable stay at Communal Sololaki, and I would love to take a moment to personally thank George from the staff. George went above and beyond to help us – I asked if it would be possible to keep the rooftop terrace open after 5:00 PM (normally it’s closed), and he immediately took action. He spoke with the neighbors, made all the necessary arrangements, and made sure everything was perfect for us. Thanks to his kindness and dedication, we had one of the most meaningful moments of our lives. The hotel itself is simply amazing – it’s cozy, clean, beautifully designed, and feels like a warm, welcoming family home rather than a regular hotel. The atmosphere is intimate, the rooms are spotless, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We cannot recommend this place enough, and we are already looking forward to coming back! Thank you again, George, and the entire Communal Sololaki team, for making our stay truly special.

Absolutely loved my stay at The Communal! If you’re looking for a cozy, local experience, this is the perfect place. The intimate breakfast was delicious, and the service and people were truly amazing. Everyone made me feel so welcome. I’ll definitely be back—highly recommend! 10/10

A beautiful, cozy hotel in a quiet part of the best neighborhood in Tbilisi. The rooms are modern, clean, and stylish. It feels like a home away from home. This should be the template for a boutique hotel.

I didn't stay at Sololaki Hotel, but while walking past it, the beautiful entrance immediately caught my eye — elegant and inviting. The surrounding area is perfect for walking, and you can even hike uphill on foot to enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the city. A charming neighborhood worth exploring.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Communal Hotel - the building is beautiful and the service was excellent. Delicious breakfast too. We would like to give a special thank you to George, who was very warm and welcoming and provided a transfer to Kazbhegi, complete with an introduction to the Georgian music scene.
