Food was tasty with unusual compositions. Thoughtfully prepared, strong versions of regional fair. The beetroot tortellini was the standout by far.

Absolutely amazing, best pasta iv eaten in Italy, can’t miss!! Prices: extremely reasonable. For 2 pastas and 1 dessert for 2 people we paid 38.5. The meals are slightly on the small side but still filling. Pastas are 14-18 euro a plate, with meat meals on the 20-25 euro range. For such unique, tasty meals and such a fancy atmosphere, it was quite affordable. Meals: FANTASTIC. Not exaggerating when I say this was the best pasta I have ever eaten in my life. Unique plates that were simply delicious. Atmosphere: white table cloth vibe. Perfect for romantic or special evening but also good for every day dinner.

Disappointing experience - charming location however, the food was not good enough. We chose the menu at 22€ and were pretty disappointed. According to us, the amount of food served was not enough. The starter and main dish were made using products having average flavors and there wasn’t many spice therefore we found it pretty bland. We didn’t get to choose the dessert, we got industrial ice cream (straciatella and cream flavor). Service was pretty slow and not so attentive, we had to ask several times to get water refills but both waiters outside were smiley and polite. We had lunch outside but the inside is charming as pictured.

What a great dinner we had last night. The service was top notch and the food was amazing. One of the best salads I ever had and both Cathy’s shrimp pasta and my braised beef were delicious. The wine list probably consists of over a 1000 bottles from all over Italy and Europe. We had a very reasonable priced dry rose. The meal was very reasonable priced compared to the states. Highly recommended 🍷🇮🇹

Food is absolutely exquisite (for reasonable prices), staff is engaging and friendly and the ambiente makes for a great night. For a romantic dinner for two, we can recommend 100%!

Despite not having a reservation we easily got a table for three by being there around opening hours. The atmosphere of the outdoor seating (as well as the indoor section) was calming, beautiful and the wait staff was very attentive. Appetiser: The salmon tartar on ricecakes were incredible. A fresh and tasty break from the classic Italian palette. Wonderfully presented. Main course: The lamb shoulder with potato was very good, the meat was juicy all though the portion was rather small. Paired with an appetiser it was enough though. The potato paste-y side was a tad strange in the texture but it did not get in the way of the rest of the dish. For dessert I had the tiramisu (listed on the menu as strawberry tiramisu although there was no strawberry in it). It was creamy and delicious, opting for a chocolate bottom rather than the classic lady finger base. All in all this was a wonderful meal. I do not drink, but the wine list was extensive and my mother who had a glass for each dish was very pleased with the staffs recommended wines.

Great Service. Amazing food! Slightly costly, but you get what you pay for. Food is out of the book. I found the house wine to be slightly costly at €15/bottle. We did ask for ice with the water but never got that, hence the 4 stars. The chef spiced up one of the dishes which was great. Beef dish was amazing and the "gnocchi del nero" was just great. The dish melts away in your mouth with an explosion of tastes covering your palete.

Yelp
Excellent food, beautiful ambience dining al fresco at night. Just magical. Very good pasta, entrees, desserts, and wine selection. Located just a brief (and lovely) stroll from the center of the city. The environment is steeped with a sense of history, beauty, and romance.

Yelp
Outdoor seating area was large.the service was excellent. Gnocchi was a bit softer tha we are accustomed to. Spinach ravioli was superb, sauce light and pasta cooked justt right. Ragu sauce with noodles was good, a bit light on the sauce. Fruit and cheese salad had a varirty of lettuce and was excellent...the best selection.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by our B & B. Just what we wanted! Outstanding Authentic Tuscany food with wonderful service! Selection of food and drinks were over the top. Would highly recommended and you will need reservations.

Yelp
At the recommendation of several locals, we had Christmas Lunch here. What a find! We've been to Siena 12 times and we've probably walked past this place dozens of times without noticing it. A small street-level doorway off Via dei Termini leads downstairs to a lovely and cozy arch-brick dining room, lined with wine bottles. Filled mainly with locals having family Christmas lunches. We ordered their fixed, 4-course special Christmas lunch, and it was terrific. The alla carte menu also gives plenty of choices, each dish crafted with a great deal of flair. My wife ordered salmon with a mushroom cream sauce, and she found it divine. Loredona and her staff are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Their wine list was incredibly deep....as big as a Tolstoy novel...maybe even Proust. The sheer number of wine choices almost caused "vino-analysis paralysis" on my part. Just an incredibly lovely experience...a great way to spend 3 leisurely hours among Senesi on Christmas afternoon. And....we'll be back. Grazie Mille!

Yelp
We had a very good lunch experience, likely helped by the fact that we were in the company of our Italian hosts. One star just for having a banquette which was hard to come by in Italy. It's downstairs and would not be an option for wheelchair users, but that is true about much of Siena. This is a more refined place as evident by the décor and the tableware. No drinking wine out of tumblers here. Watch out for the shower in the bathroom. One of our party didn't and ended up wet. The server worked hard to accommodate my allergies, checking each dish to make sure that I could eat it. It was an expensive lunch and they added a 10€ service charge to the bill. Three of the mains were 17€ each. The contorni ranged from 8-12€ which is a bit steep for vegetables but in fairness the prices were listed on the menu.

Yelp
Excellent lunch spot - great for wine tasting and so far on my trip I have had my best meal. Guinea fowl ravioli, lamb sausage and greens.

Yelp
I am becoming very strict in Siena. I was here in the past but now I was disappointed and have no reason to return. The pigeon appetizer was full of oil but not of taste. Tagliatelle with duck ragu could be great anywhere in the world but for Siena was just good. The braised beef (they suggested to me as their best plate) was really bad. Meat was burned and covered with a wine un-inspired sauce. French fries that come with it were like fried in the morning and heat it on microwave!! Only wine and decoration gave one more star.

Yelp
Superb. Octopus terrific. Wine list magnifico. Off the beaten track, yet non-Italians have found it. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. One of my favorite meals in Italy. Spinach Malfatti was ridiculously good.

Yelp
Was recommend by the concierge of a leading hotel to try this restaurant. Sorry, the food was horrible. It is trying way too hard on innovating dishes to arrive at something where taste and texture either take a backseat or are totally forgotten. Pheasant meatballs has chunks of pheasant meat inside, encased by a crust that is thick, dark and unchewable, and tasted like soap. Yuck A dish of creamy mashed bacalao was studded with a large amount of micro greens which made it taste like, more soap, but may be of another brand ? Slow cooked egg arrived while we were still trying to finish off a prior dish. It had to be sent back rather than let it get cold. It looked exciting, having been encased within a dark basket stuffed with, well, micro greens. It evoked a forest feel. But since only the slow cooked egg qqw available, in essence this dish is one single slow cooked egg . Why? Why not realize there is a big market for well executed classical dishes of Tuscany ?

Yelp
Our hotel suggested we dine here for our wedding anniversary and I am so happy we did. This was by far the best experience we had dining in Italy. The service here is impeccable. They treat everyone as a valued guest. We opted for the 50 euro per person wine pairing with three courses. Everything we were served was delicious, and we certainly walked away stuffed! If we ever return to Siena (which I hope we do) I will come back!

Yelp
One of the most creative meals I've had in Italy. I got the prix fix menu and could not have asked for anything better! There wasn't a thing on the menu that wasn't superb... And the waist worked very hard...

Jonas B.

Yelp
I'm torn between three and four stars for this review. It may be unfortunate for this restaurant that we had lunch at another Siena restaurant that left a better impression, and the three stars feeling certainly factors in that this was a rather pricey establishment. Nevertheless our group was left a bit underwhelmed. And at the same time, my beef with black pepper cooked in Brunello wine, with oven-baked potatoes was delicious, one of the best dishes I had during a gourmet-frenqied week in Toscana. So that is what gets to flip the review towards four stars.

Yelp
Nice ambiance. Pretty good food. Three nights in Sienna, this would rank second out of three. We wouldn't come back here and wouldn't really recommend it either...who knew it'd be hard to find great food in Italy? Try Osteria Il Carroccio: better food, prices, and atmosphere.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. We were 2 couples traveling through Italy and spent 3 nights nearby. Loved the location in the old city of Siena, and the decor was great. Service was efficient and friendly, and the wine list was amazing. Food was just the right portions, and was well prepared and presented. However for us at least, the flavors were nothing special. None of us walked out thinking it was an amazing meal. A good meal in a great spot, with good service? Absolutely. A GREAT meal food-wise? Not the best for us at least.

Yelp
Fantastic. We got the beef with peppercorns, the pork, the gazpacho, the ravioli, and the fennel flan. They were all great, but the fennel flan was world class

Yelp
Best vegetarian ravioli I have ever had. I would place this restaurant among my favorites in Siena. Creative dishes, super quality ingredients, and reasonable prices. It won't disappoint.

Yelp
Looking for a place to eat we walked by this restaurant. Very nice ambiance. We let us surprise by the chef. Had a great evening!!

Nettie S.

Yelp
The wine was delicious, but the food AND the service was not worth the cost. My hotel recommended it and my boyfriend and I were very excited to celebrate our anniversary there. The owner was a complete ass and was rude to us because we were american even though we have good italian skills. The food was mediocre, i had a better food the next day at a little hosteria. Dont waste your time and money.

Riett J.

Yelp
One of the most innovative and delicious meals we have ever had. We both choose the tasting menu with wines. The three appetizers on our plate were incredible and gorgeously presented. We next each got two wonderful pastas. Then melt in the mouth beef. All the wines were great and complemented their course.

Yelp
If you are in Siena, GO HERE. We found out about this place after not being able to get into the very popular, La Taverna Di Giuseppe. We came later in the evening and we still had impeccable service. The place is tucked away and feels like you are in a cozy wine cellar. In fact, the waiter was so kind and let us go down into the cellar to pick out our bottles of wine and take pics, etc. I recommend the gnocchi with spinach and chocolate pasta with boar. Unique experience and fabulous meal. One for the books.
