Compass del Sur

Great hostal, really clean and comfortable, we had a very nice, quiet and spacious room. It is a traditional, wooden house, well renovated. The landlords were really nice, helpful with a warm welcome. It is like 5 min walk from the center but much quieter than the center of the city, more restful. The breakfast is delicious! And we made a trail around the Osorno volcano (4h walk) with Mauricio from Compass del Sur and it was fantastic. We will come back for sure, we highly recommed this place.

We loved this hostel! It was cosy, very clean and had a great kitchen. The staff were all super friendly, and they do a great breakfast! Would highly recommend!

Superb. A perfect welcome from Mauro. Hostel in a great location, in the center. Beautiful, bright and clean rooms. Wide and comfortable common areas. The services offered are very complete, from meals to tours, I did one and it was perfect. Can't ask for more

We stayed here one night in December, in a private room with bathroom. Of all the hostels where we stayed in Chile, this one was the most disappointing. The positives were that the wifi worked in our room, there was a place to park the car, and it is an easy walk to town. The negatives were that it was a bit dirtier than I expected, there was no toilet paper in our room, and there was no staff (around 9pm) when I needed to find some (which I never did). Also, unlike most hostels, there was no hot water or coffee out for everyone to enjoy - you had to pay even for a cup of coffee. When we went back to Puerta Varas a few days later, we found a different place that was the same price and far more friendly and clean.

We stayed in our van and used the facilities of the hostel. It’s a really cozy and clean place, with a good location. The WiFi connection is good. Despite this, we think it was pricey. We have one small remark. They said there would be a separate bathroom for the people who are sleeping on the camping, which would never be more than four people (us included). But in fact everybody was using this bathroom.

Fantastic hostel, we'd messed up and booked the wrong day and they made every effort to accommodate us. Kitchen is superb and rooms are spacious. Really good value for the price. Hope to return one day!

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at over 30 countries. Clean, modern, warm, and homey. There is plenty of natural light, motion sensors for lights in common walkways, a big and fully equipped kitchen (sharp knives and clean spaces), double glazed windows, and clean bathrooms. ||The common areas are nice with areas to work and chill. Breakfast was a nice touch. Staff are really helpfull. The beds are comfortable and warm.

We stayed for two nights and would stay here again given the price, private room and location. The transport they arranged from the airport also worked well. The private room was clean and sufficient for our needs - a good place to sleep and keep our stuff secure during the day. Breakfast was very basic but also met our needs for coffee and toast before getting out to explore. Nothing fancy but absolutely no complaints. It worked very well for us!
