Compston House B&B

We had a lovely time staying at Compston House last week. The room was cozy, everything was clean, and breakfast was a real highlight. Both Megan and John were so warm and welcoming to us throughout our stay, which was much appreciated. Everything was excellent value for money - the room, the breakfast, the service, the location (perfectly situated in Ambleside within walking distance of all the shops/restaurants/cinemas) and also the parking permit, which was incredibly helpful throughout our trip. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay - we will definitely be returning in the future!

Just back from a group of friends staying in Ambleside whilst we competed in a trail race. |There were 12 of us and John and Megan were outstanding hosts. They couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. |Rooms were clean and ranged from ‘cosy’ to spacious. |Clean linen, towels and supplies topped up whenever requested outside of normal room servicing. |Special thanks to Megan for feeding 12 of us (plus other guests) with breakfast all at once with efficiency and a smile all the time. |Would definitely recommend and we’ve already booked for next year 😊|Oh and breakfast is brilliant.

This was our 1st Wedding Anniversary and we decided to book Ambleside through great reviews from friends. We stopped at Lake Windermere for a night on our way to Gretna Green last year and loved it. |This B&B caught my eye due to its great reviews especially about the breakfast choices which did not disappoint. |Our room was perfect, if I could make any suggestions it would have been nice to have a mini fridge. |The dog was friendly and very chilled. |Nothing was ever too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. |We would return. |Karen and Bobby Pretlove

This was my 3rd stay at Compston House. Megan & John are warm, friendly and very welcoming. Room was very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. I will definitely stay here again and will be highly recommending friends and family to stay here.

Excellent B and B, very friendly owners, nothing is ever a problem. The rooms are very comfortable with a high standard of cleanliness with tea and coffee provided. Shower room fully equipped with fluffy towels and toiletries. Breakfast is all you could wish for and more. Free parking either with private space or a pass for local car parks. Definitely recommend a stay.

Meg and John are great hosts, the breakfast was exceptional and I love how the tables were set up ready for everyone at 8am. We booked the Natural Hessian King Suit which was well kept and clean, it had everything we needed. The private off road parking was great and kept me some peace of mind compared to being parked in the city centre carpark (which im sure is fine, but im a little anxious of). The location of the BnB is perfect, the centre is a minute down the doorstep with everything in a 5 minute radius walking distance. The lake is a 5 minute drive away, and The Old Man of Coniston is around a 20 minute drive away (Walna Scar car park). I would highly reccomend and will definitely stay here on our next visit. Mens breakfast is amazing too, loved the soft pancakes! Thank you 😊

Easily the best place to stay in Ambleside. The owners are beyond helpful and accommodating. The rooms are incredible and clean, the beds are cozy, the breakfast was a perfect start to the day, and is located in the center of everything. Bonus points for the sweetest German Shepard. 10/10 would live there forever.

This was one of the most friendly little B&B's we've stayed at in the Lake District. The minute you walk through the door you are greated by Jerry and Sue who are more than happy to help you out with local information, restaurant recommendations and bookings etc. The B&B is perfectly located in the centre of Ambleside so it's easy to stroll to one of the many pubs or restaurants. The rooms are all themed on different parts of America and the rest of the B&B is imaculate. The breakfasts are one of the main attractions to this B&B and now I know why. You can choose between a full American, a full English or any mixed breakfast, pancakes, omlettes you name it. So much choice and so much food you'll struggle to leave the table and Jerry will keep offering you more. Sue does a cracking job in the kitchen and no matter how busy it is the breakfast is at the highest standard. The only thing that lets this place down is the bathroom in our room was very small but to be fair it did it's job so I wasn't too bothered. I would definatly recommend this place to anyone.
