Compston House B&B

We’ve stayed at Compston House many times, and it never fails to impress. John and Meg are fantastic hosts who who work incredibly hard and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. ||||We stayed in Room 8 (our go to room when available), which was spotless, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. Plus you get a dedicated parking space with this room which is an added bonus. However every room gets a parking pass if not a dedicated parking space which is invaluable.||||The breakfast is the highlight of our stay - made with top-quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The full American is amazing! 🤩 ||||A special mention has to go to Mia, their adorable and friendly dog, who is always on hand to greet you with a wagging tail. She’s the perfect addition to this warm and welcoming home.||||The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Ambleside. It’s a short stroll to numerous restaurants, bars, and shops, and it’s an ideal base for exploring the Lake District’s many scenic walks.||||Thank you, John and Meg, for another wonderful stay! What an amazing stay. Car parking was 1 min away and matt even walked to show us where it was in the pouring rain. Checkin was smooth. Our room was large and very clean(and warm!). Both morning breakfasts were amazing and we didn’t even need lunch! The hosts cannot do enough for you and I highly recommend staying here. We will definately be back!

We stayed overnight to visit a local restaurant and had a great stay. We arrived early as I mistakenly assumed a check in time. Meg was so kind in getting our room ready so quickly allowing us both to get changed prior to our lunch reservation. Lots of choice for breakfast and service was always with a smile. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting somewhere to stay in Ambleside.

This is an absolute gem, 2 minutes from the centre of Ambleside and run by owners that will make you feel so welcome from the moment you arrive. We stayed here for 5 nights and our stay was exceptional. Lovely room, very friendly hosts and their lovely dog….oh and the breakfast was amazing, great food and great choice. If you are travelling to the lakes Ambleside is the perfect place, if you want to travel to Keswick, Kendal, Grasmere, get on the bus, £4 return per person. Oh and if you stay here you will get a free car park permit, the car park is literally 2 minutes from the property. All I can say is that we will be back next year, see you guys and thank you for making our stay so brilliant….

Had a lovely break for couple of days at Compton House in Ambleside, weather wasn’t great, typical Cumbria rain, but the guest house was lovely with very pleasant host and hostess, their toddler and Mia the dog. Thank you for your hospitality. Breakfast was great as well!

Excellent stay at this b ana b right in the middle of town centre,breakfast was delicious,would recommend this for a short break away great hospitality nothing is too much trouble definitely would book this place again.free parking aswell only 2minutes away.

Absolutely fantastic 3 night stay. Room was lovely, great facilities, tea/coffee machine/biscuits. Our hosts, Megan & John ( not forgetting the gorgeous Mia) were brilliant. Breakfast was so gorgeous and tasty, beautifully presented. All in all, we will be back, first class B&B. 😊😊😊

This was one of the most friendly little B&B's we've stayed at in the Lake District. The minute you walk through the door you are greated by Jerry and Sue who are more than happy to help you out with local information, restaurant recommendations and bookings etc. The B&B is perfectly located in the centre of Ambleside so it's easy to stroll to one of the many pubs or restaurants. The rooms are all themed on different parts of America and the rest of the B&B is imaculate. The breakfasts are one of the main attractions to this B&B and now I know why. You can choose between a full American, a full English or any mixed breakfast, pancakes, omlettes you name it. So much choice and so much food you'll struggle to leave the table and Jerry will keep offering you more. Sue does a cracking job in the kitchen and no matter how busy it is the breakfast is at the highest standard. The only thing that lets this place down is the bathroom in our room was very small but to be fair it did it's job so I wasn't too bothered. I would definatly recommend this place to anyone.
