"Fully booked: a charming (and cramped) Marais bookstore."

This bookstore really was the best in Paris, with a really good owner, most passionate about archives and old editions of magazines, impossible to find elsewhere. What happened? Why is it closed since more 6 months, we hope nothing bad happened and miss Comptoir de l’Image.

Best photography book shop I've been to. Michel was very welcoming and had all the books I was after. I took my time and looked through a lot that he had and never felt rushed. He has it all from Penn to Koudelka and even some photographers that you would not imagine.

With no doubt that the bookstore has excellent collections especially about fashion and art, as well as the worst owner with crude manners that I've ever seen. However, if you are a local or from EU, you would meet a nice guy, as I found that he's kind to all the French people (All the previous comments here from French guys are positive). Unfortunately, I am not, I am an asian. My friend and I passed by the bookstore, we found the books behind the window are fabulous and decided to pop in. I am a book artist from London, and the books seem to be huge fortune to me. When I was looking at one of the book, the owner shouted at me:"Get your fingers out of the book and put it back! That is not something you could play around." I could not remember the exact words he used as I am too shocked to hear that. I placed it back immediately and thought probably I did something wrong, so I asked "I am sorry but what's wrong??" He threw me back with NO EXPLANATION but DIRTY WORDS, and pointed at the door yelling at me "LEAVE". I swore that as a pro book artist I treasured every book with all my life and I did not do anything inappropriate. I still have no idea what I should apologize for, even though I did. Well, while some other french guests are in the store, the owner seems to be very pleasant and patient to help them, but ever since they've left, when we two asian guys were the only ones in the room, he changed to another person at once. In this case, I strongly recommended this bookstore to EU friends, because the books are really good. But here's the warning for people from the other countries, LEAVE THIS BOOKSHOP ALONE! One last suggestion for the owner: hang a notice board on your door please, " No entry for tourists from somewhere outside EU", it would definitely save your time. May you have a good day.

Best Photo Book Store in Paris. You can find real rarities as Avedon's In the American West first edition, Jean Loup Sieff's La Vallée de la Mort and many more.

Very good old bookstore, mostly fashion and photobooks. The owner is very friendly, he was curious about where I'm from because he thought I was Indian, I'm latin american. He gladly helped me to find a photobook I was searching for.

Nice collection of vintage books but the old guy who sits there is extremely unpleasant, grumpy and a horrible human being and ruins the whole charm of the bookstore. It's a shame.

Nice collection, however the owner is crazily skeptical, accusing you comparing the price for using the phone and staying there for too long Never been humiliated like this in a shop. Great collection or not, the attitude sucks.

The owner could not have more pleasant and had knowledge of everything I was looking for. He found some wonderful treasure for my photographer son to enjoy for years to come.

Yelp
Cute tiny little book shop that is just inviting you to enter. Lot of fashion, arts, and other genre of books and magazine all stacked up. You have to squeeze past each other to look around but tats part of its charm. Defo worth a peek in.

Yelp
I remember well going to this bookstore when i was in Paris in the late 1980s . The owner was extremely nice and knowledgeable. I wish I could be there now .

Yelp
One of my favorite bookstores in Paris, with an excellent stock of rare and collectible photography books and the best selection of new and vintage fashion magazines. The only place I know to find fashion show catalogs and rare issues of French, English, and American Vogue and Bazaar. The proprietor, M. Frank, is charming and knowledgeable. Recommended to any fashion fan.
