Occasionally, you hit upon a restaurant that is really unique and at the same time provides excellent cuisine. Such is the case of le Comptoire Moutarde in Bedford, Quebec.
The restaurant’s cuisine is sourced from only local farmers and businesses and as such, its menu changes frequently. A list of its suppliers is displayed proudly on one of the restaurant’s walls.
Le Comptoir Moutarde is small and as such indoor seating is limited. (They allow dogs inside.) They have extra seating outdoors in front of the restaurant. They did take our family’s reservation and had a table for five ready when we arrived. The menu that day had four main entrees, including tomatoes and melon, a chicken sandwich, full salad and pasta and wine. I chose the full salad that included babaganoush, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, yellow beans and egg, salad dressing and sunflower seeds. It was delicious. Other members of our party ordered the pasta and wine (“Wonderful”) and the chicken sandwich (“Excellent”). Le Comptoir Moutarde also has a comprehensive wine list, a selection of local beer and dealcoholized beer.
So, if supporting a small business, a farm-to-table restaurant with wonderful cuisine interests you, don’t miss le Comtoir Moutarde on Main Street in Bedford.
We will be back!
