We weren’t exactly sure what to expect from Con Dao but we were eager to find out . What we discovered is that we felt that we had the place to ourselves . Vast stretches of beautiful empty white sand beaches were ours to explore . No shortage of spectacular scenery on our relaxing scooter ride around the Island . An abundance of tasty dining options in town as well . We would definitely go back .

This island belongs to Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, which is approximately 100 kilometers away from Ho Chi Minh City. The most popular and convenient way to reach Con Dao is by air. You can reach the island by taking domestic flights from cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho. Flights from Ho Chi Minh and Cann Tho to Con Dao Island usually take around 45 to 55 minutes. You could access Con Dao by ferry, departing from Vung Tau or Soc Trang. It takes you from 2 hours and a half to 3 hours and a half to get Con Dao from Soc Trang and Vung Tau. The best time to visit Con Dao is in dry season, which runs from November to April. During this time, the weather is cooler and drier, with average temperatures ranging from 24°C to 30°C (75°F to 86°F). You can enjoy pleasant beach weather, engage in various water activities, and explore the natural beauty of Con Dao without the interruption of heavy rainfall. In addition to the beautiful nature, Con Dao is home to one of the most infamous former prisons in Vietnam, which was an incarceration facility for the French as well as the Americans. You can get a solid background on the island's history at Con Dao Museum. Learning about Con Dao Prison's history is a must when visiting this island.

Amazing beaches, so nice. The seafood in the restaurant isn't cheap. I recommend you buy seafood in early morning at the port and bring to hotel, they will help to cook. Hire a bike and go around the island. Everywhere the beaches are so beautiful. Do not bring plastic waste to the island.

Con Dao or Con Son island _ I would recommend it as a place for trekking , diving , hiking , blending in the beauty of rural and history . It would be better to stay in a resort if you travel with kids otherwise you will struggle finding food or entertainments .Cause there are no bars , no pubs, no western restaurants .I was so impressed with how people here take good care of the island .Everywhere is so clean , there are more trash bins than bikes on the streets 😊. Take the scooter and drive along the island , you will be surly overwhelmed by its breathtaking coast . Don't forget to check out Bai Dam Trau ( right next to the airport) , Bai Ong Dung ( inside National park ) ...
