We had a *wonderful* time staying at Conchal Hotel for four days and nights. Hilda, the proprietor, was extremely helpful before our visit, scheduling shuttle service from (and back to) the Liberia airport. Once we arrived, she was warm and welcoming, always available to help us with any need, including arranging taxi service to a nearby wedding venue. ||Donald, who oversaw our breakfast service, was personable, cheerful, and very efficient. Eating breakfast on the veranda, overlooking the pool and garden, with large trees across the road, was a lovely experience each morning, and the food was delicious. ||Finally, the housekeeping staff member who took care of our room is an amazing towel animal artist! (I won't spoil the surprises.) ||Other quick observations: Like most hotels I've stayed at in Costa Rica, the Conchal Hotel didn't have fully hot water, so we were prepared for lukewarm showers, which was fine. A grocery store and ice cream shop were about a two-minute walk away, and a small forested area (adjacent to a hilltop parking lot), less than 10 minutes away by foot, offered surprisingly good birding. The beach, which has a *very* nice area for snorkeling, was a 15-minute walk from the hotel, though in the rainy season (when we were there) it did require wading through a gully created by the river's high water levels.||Overall, we could not have been happier with our stay at Conchal Hotel. The room was clean and attractive, and the bed was very comfortable, all for an extremely affordable rate. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
