We had a *wonderful* time staying at Conchal Hotel for four days and nights. Hilda, the proprietor, was extremely helpful before our visit, scheduling shuttle service from (and back to) the Liberia airport. Once we arrived, she was warm and welcoming, always available to help us with any need, including arranging taxi service to a nearby wedding venue. ||Donald, who oversaw our breakfast service, was personable, cheerful, and very efficient. Eating breakfast on the veranda, overlooking the pool and garden, with large trees across the road, was a lovely experience each morning, and the food was delicious. ||Finally, the housekeeping staff member who took care of our room is an amazing towel animal artist! (I won't spoil the surprises.) ||Other quick observations: Like most hotels I've stayed at in Costa Rica, the Conchal Hotel didn't have fully hot water, so we were prepared for lukewarm showers, which was fine. A grocery store and ice cream shop were about a two-minute walk away, and a small forested area (adjacent to a hilltop parking lot), less than 10 minutes away by foot, offered surprisingly good birding. The beach, which has a *very* nice area for snorkeling, was a 15-minute walk from the hotel, though in the rainy season (when we were there) it did require wading through a gully created by the river's high water levels.||Overall, we could not have been happier with our stay at Conchal Hotel. The room was clean and attractive, and the bed was very comfortable, all for an extremely affordable rate. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

First, I would like to say the hotel is as shown online. It is a cute, small hotel that is very clean. The only problem I have with the property and the reason the rating is what I gave them is I don’t like to be lied to. When I booked our room I had to “upgrade” to a premium room in order to have a hair dryer. I did this and requested a 2nd floor room. When we arrived on our reservation it had a 2nd floor premium room but was marked out and changed to a first floor room that was not a premium room. When I asked why we were not getting what we reserved the reception said this is the same room. It was not. Our room #10 was below the kitchen so early in the morning and in the evening you got to listen to the clanking of dishes and scooting of furniture. This is from their website on description of the premium room: Superior rooms also feature upgraded furnishings and facilities including California kingsize bed, flat screen tv, coffee maker, hair dryer and bathrobes. When I said we did not have the amenities in the room he told me none of the rooms have those amenities. Then fix your website. Later I asked for the complimentary sarong towels and he said they were all checked out for the day. Not a great check in experience. The next day I asked again for the sarongs and was told 3 different times to check back that they weren’t back from laundry yet. At 11:00 when I went back up to check to see if any were available I was waiting for about 5 minutes while the receptionist visited with a friend when a man came up and asked if he could help me. I explained I had been trying to get a sarong for two days now and they say they don’t have any available. He was not happy. He went behind the counter and pulled out two and gave them to me and apologized. Also, if wifi in your room is important you might want to reconsider. We had very little service in our room. None of these things are huge but was very frustrating. All of the staff except the male and female receptionist were great. It is too bad that the faces of the hotel do not want to make your experience better. The truth would have helped.

A family-run hotel is truly pleasant, with beautifully arranged interior. We got spacious, clean room. The owner/host was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was tasty. The place is relatively close to the famous Conchal beach, but the beach is NOT across the hotel. It's walking distance but it's a rather long walk.

My husband and I stayed at Conchal Hotel earlier this month, and had an awesome experience. We were staying at a not so nice hotel down the road, and stopped by in the morning to see if we could check in early at Conchal. They allowed us to check in and gave us the key right then and there. |The staff was very accommodating. Donald, our server is so sweet, and made us feel so welcome. |Breakfast was included with our stay, but our flight was early the following morning, so we wouldn’t be able to enjoy breakfast the following day. Conchal invited us to stay for breakfast the day we checked in, due to the flight time. |The rooms are very clean, the bed is so comfortable, and they have AC!🙌 To pool is perfect, the gardens are gorgeous, this was by far our favorite property. Highly recommend. Also, ask for Charlie, the iguana that adopted the hotel.

We loved this hotel. Wonderful service, clean, well appointed rooms, amd a security guard to watch everything at night. The restaurant was honestly very surprising and the food, cocktails, and service were just lovely. We will stay here again!!

We stayed three nights and can't recommend this hotel. Some rooms are right on the road, making them noisy. But the real problem is that the hotel rents out its restaurant as a private party venue. One night, a loud party went on well past midnight, even after we complained at 10 PM and were told the music would stop any minute. Unfortunately, it didn't and we couldn't sleep at all. The hotel didn't even bother to apologize. Guests also can't use the restaurant during these events, not even for a quick drink.

The restaurant was great. The tortilla and guacamole was the best I’ve ever had. The hotel was adequate- great for the price. The staff was so attentive and friendly.

Hotel Conchal was a very quaint, clean oasis with a large poolside room and wonderful breakfast. The fruit was delicious and the visiting birds and iguanas were delightful. |It is a pleasant 20 minute walk to Playa Conchal, one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful beaches. It is close to many restaurants in Brasilito.
