Closed, the cigar shop moved a block away to Hotel Valencia. They have the old furniture from here and painted it the same. Has the same feel and a new roller named Ramon who is excellent in my opinion.

OK, Havana overall is basically a vibrant crumbling city a shadow of former glory. but pure magic.||This hotel is over 100 years old and was the home of a Spanish Baron.||You step back in time when you arrive, leafy inner courtyard, wide internal balconies, the room have stable like doors and are very large.||Ours did smell musty and yes plasterwork was crumbling, and the bathroom a little tired, but this all added to the magic and charm. I felt I was living in times gone by and loved it.||It was in a great location close to the port and Old Plaza, it was very secure and the staff all very helpful. The breakfast was very good too.||If you want a Hilton like sterile room then this is not for you, but if you want to experience the grand life of old Habana, then ignore any decay and love this hotel for what it is. We did.

From the outside of the hotel which has classic architecture the interior courtyard was very attractive. It all starts to go down hill on seeing the bedroom. There were broken [not cracked] tiles on the floors, the bathroom was truly the pits with dirty grouting, wobbly electric sockets, noisy air con and shower did not have a curtain so water leaked everywhere. The shower was weak and pressure varied. The mattress protectors were very noisy and stiff and probably more suitable for incontinence! There were ill fitting windows leading looking down on a very noisy street. Breakfast on two days out of three was bordering on atrocious. Most of the staff did their level best but.... We do not consider this hotel to be good value for money. I would recommend that more modern hotels would suit better.

Good hotel, very comfortable in the very center of the historic city. This old house converted offers some nice and spacious rooms. There are few rooms so it is quiet and service was good. Not cheap, like everything in Old Havana for tourist but recommended !

Lovely cosy hotel in a perfect location for discovering Habana vieja by foot. Our room (no 4) was big and so romantic - a thing of faded beauty. Breakfast was always good and always quiet! Lovely attentive staff. The only problem was that due to the location there was alot of noise early and late - Habana vieja rises early and goes to bed late. The hotel can arrange classic car tours and taxis. Taxi to Jibacoa was 70 cuc - 40 to the driver, 30 to the hotel ! I Could be wrong but it may be cheaper to go to taxis elsewhere as it felt like we were paying the hotel 30 cuc for the privilege. If I am wrong I apologise.

Did not stay in the hotel, but the La Casa del Habano was one of my favorites of my whole time in Cuba. The staff is very friendly, the cigars are well maintained and stocked. Try the house rolls, you won't be disappointed. The bar is one of the smallest I've ever been in, but I didn't want to leave, it was very cool.

The cigar shop is an amazing experience with people from all over the world. We made friends from France, UK, Croatia and Cypress all in three hours. Reynaldo's hand rolled cigars are world class and priced very well. I would say he is probably the top roller in all of Havana, if not Cuba. Go straight to the back, get one of his hand-rolls, a rum or coffee and enjoy the afternoon!

Great lunch option in the courtyard of the hotel. $12 three course meal. Very good authentic Cuban food. The ropa vieja is very good. Coffee was not included, but a drink and dessert was. Amazing courtyard garden with interest birds roaming about. They have tables in the courtyard.
