Great food and experience, I love the spicy Tequila drinks

Matthew Mattison

Google
Second time here. Food and service both times have been great. Had the barbacoa chimichonga this time. Most tender barbacoa I've ever had. Staff recommended it and I see why.

Google
Excited to see they had a second location in Smithfield in addition to their West Warwick location. Food here is excellent. You’ll be hard pressed to find better Mexican in the state. Drinks are also very good with tons of creative options. Major complaint with the service. Restaurant wasn’t even half full but service was incredibly slow. Took forever to get chips and salsa, as well as drinks. The food did arrive quickly which was nice. Had to ask multiple times for a second serving of salsa for the remaining chips, as they do serve a big portion of chips, but never got it. Instead they just took the chips and salsa away. Could easily be 4 stars, borderline 5 with improved service.

Google
It's an exciting time looking for a new place to attend regularly for a specific type of food or, in this case, a specific dish! My wife loves mole sauce, and we had a recommendation to try out Condesa's. They serve the enchiladas with mole sauce, and she was thrilled! Outstanding for her on all levels! I had the Texana Fajitas, and the only thing to exceed this dish was the exceptional service! Outstanding hostess, wait, and kitchen staff proves out great management! Strongly recommended!

Google
The Pineapple Mezcal Margarita was absolutely disgusting. I have nothing to compare it to. If I told you it tasted like my gym socks it would be an insult to my sweaty feet

Kathleen Beauregard

Google
Always delicious, fresh, and quick. Non greasy! Mole sauce tastes house made. Waitstaff are always moving and kind. After living many years in the southwest this restaurant is our favorite in upper RI/lower Mass for Mexican food.

Ej Davis

Google
Food was okay. I really hated the over-use of the three cheese blend. It was in both the Quesadilla and the Queso Fundido. I believe it would have been better with a white cheese. The waiter was extremely inattentive and never once asked how the food was. Overall, this restaurant really missed the mark for me. Not recommending this place.

Marko Kaar

Google
Cantina style restaurant (a little noisy) in a shopping plaza area with other restaurants... Service was excellent, food was delicious and affordable Empanadas Tampiquenas were delicious and very fresh tasting Queso Fundido was literally bubbling hot when delivered to the table - a fun and very tasty version of queso! Love crusty cheese!

Yelp
I have two words for you, amigos, and those words are STEAK FAJITAS. I took one bite, and I wanted to snarf down the whole plate in one sitting. Yeah, it was that good. This is what, my third time there, and each time I went there with my sister the wait staff was always super nice. They genuinely appreciate your business, I can tell. I also loved the ofrenda by the door, as Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is an important holiday in Mexico. The restaurant itself has a nice Mexican theme, and there's this nice moon and sun decoration hanging up that always seems to be in view of whatever table I'm sitting at. I dunno, I just like looking at it. Anyway, I was so stuffed with the fajitas, I was waddling like a stuffed armadillo back to the car. Oh, wait, that was after the cheesecake, because my mom was also there, as we were celebrating her birthday. I was like, I just ate all these fajitas, and you're trying to stuff me full of cheesecake?? Okay, I'll have a few bites. So I wound up eating more than a few bites of cheesecake, and THEN I finally waddled like a stuffed armadillo out to the car. So if you're asking would I come back for the steak fajitas again, that would be a yes.

Jim W.

Yelp
A Valentine's Day visit and what a great choice. The service was impeccable and they had a great special dinner for two menu as well. We opted to order from the menu and the was prepared fresh and arrived piping hot. My steak fajitas were the most tender I've had in this dish in years. Strongly recommended.

Ray M.

Yelp
This was my third time eating at this restaurant and there's a specific reason that I don't eat there more frequently since it's only five minutes from where I live. They have an absolutely huge parking lot, but this restaurant is very successful and very busy and they are located directly next-door to another extremely successful and busy restaurant, leaving very few parking spots available and even more so, fewer handicap spots for disabled people like myself. The ambience is pretty nice here and they have a large dining room, allowing lots of patrons quick seating. The dishes I've tried so far are very good and I thought the prices were about average. I definitely thought the prices were fair for the portion sizes and the quality of the food. Service here is always good, so I have no complaints there. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you're in the area.

Yelp
Condesa has multiple locations in RI. I went to the Smithfield location (the other one is in Warwick) and it had a nice modern contemporary Mexican theme. It felt clean inside with lots of seating. They share the parking lot with multiple other businesses so parking was limited. The service was quick and I got seated right away. The staff were friendly and attentive. They serve complimentary chips and salsa to start. For an appetizer, I ordered the chicken quesadilla which was large enough to even be a main course. I also ordered the shrimp ceviche for an app and it had a nice tangy flavor from the lime juice and onions. For an entree, I ordered the chicken fajitas and it was a good size portion, flavorful, with plenty of sautéed peppers & onions. It came with 3 tortillas but they were small so I would ask for a couple more next time. The margaritas were great and adds a nice touch to a Mexican dinner. The grand finale! Was the HOMEMADE churros and black raspberry ice-cream. Did I mention both were homemade?! YUM. The churros were super light and super fresh with plenty of cinnamon and sugar on them. It has a nice crispy outside and soft/chewy inside. I would be sure to try them if ever going to Condesa!

Trevor P.

Yelp
The other night my GF and I made our way back to Condesa for dinner since we loved it our first find and our second time was no different! Highly recommend the chicken fajitas! Loaded with tender chicken, peppers & onions (ask for extra shells). We also had barbocoa tacos that weren't bad but was a bit dry and skimped on the portion for the size of the shells. The HOMEMADE churros were the homerun though! Super delicious covered in cinnamon sugar and fried perfectly with a crisp outside and light inside! Highly recommend Condesa for their delicious Mexican food, friendly attentive wait staff, and very clean modern looking dinning experience.

L S.

Yelp
Food was ok. I cant stand when we ordered nachos as an app and they brought all our food out at the same time. Was pissed but whatever at this point. Drinks were good, service eh. The Condessa in Warwick is so much better.

Mike F.

Yelp
So I was very pleased with every aspect of this restaurant. First off the atmosphere was great- it's clean, good music in the background and the decor is modern. The service is really good and everyone was attentive to the customers needs. The food was tasty and served nice and hot. Honestly I don't drink but the beverages look delicious. If I can suggest any food - the fajitas Mexicanos is the best bang for your buck. The chicken- steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection and made great tacos with the corn tortillas. I will visit again and if you have not you should too.

Beth S.

Yelp
Terrible service-- probably the worst I've ever experienced. 20 minutes to order a drink, then waited for for another 20 minutes to order food, and 30 more minutes to get the bill. (We could have just left without paying and honestly, no one would have noticed...that's how little anyone was paying attention!) It was not busy and the server was missing most of the time. He couldn't care less about his job. You might want to retrain the male server who worked on the evening of 2/2. He was AWFUL!

Bianca C.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a weekend a service was good and fast, restaurant was clean and cute, and the food tasted delicious! We also got queso which was spicy but tasty!

Josh M.

Yelp
Not bad, not amazing. The food was good. We had a variety of appetizers and entrees between sour party of four. With the exception of the rice, which was rather salty, everything was good. Decent mole. Shrimp tasted fresh. Nice tequila selection. Wide variety with a couple very nice ones. Atmosphere is good. Looks like most Mexican restaurants. Plenty of space. Service was ok. Attentive initially and trailing off over the course of the meal. Could have used a more timely refill or two. Do recommend but suspect it runs hot and cold.

Brian L.

Yelp
We ate here on a Saturday, Laura's and Blackies across the street each had a 1.5 hour wait - no wait at Condesa. Food was good, I had fish tacos, kids had quesadilla and fajitas, and my wife had chicken enchiladas. We got in and out pretty quickly as well.

David S.

Yelp
Solid 4 star Mexican spot! It's got ambiance, class and most importantly, delicious food! The burrito portion size is actually epic. I have seen more than one customer look in horror and delight all at the same time. Andre the Giant would struggle with it! I do enjoy the lunch portions, as they are one sitting manageable! The fresh nachos are a crunchtastic way to begin the meal. Over all, the whole enchilada is spot on! I will say the only minor infraction is the need for more wait staff. It spreads them a bit thin on the floor. Def recommendation! Bon appetite!

Matt T.

Yelp
Wow!! Great food, nice environment too! Loud (music not crowd) to the point that the waitress couldn't hear us and mistook two of our drinks, but they were tasty so no real complaints. Will be back!!

Beverly T.

Yelp
We all loved our meals. We started with an app: beef brisket nachos! Excellent. Then, I had shrimp over cheesy rice. My husband had Beef tacos. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. For dessert we split churros and ice cream. We will certainly go back again. The staff is very good, helpful and patient!!

Amanda L.

Yelp
I've never had a bad experience here!!! The food is amazing! Fresh ingredients, huge portions and the wait staff has always been awesome! We frequent this place and it's never TOO busy where you can't get a table as a walk in customer. Love this place!

Christine S.

Yelp
Came here once so far with my friend for dinner. We ordered guacamole, ceviche, chicken flautas, dulce de leche cheesecake and she had some huge burrito w/red sauce overtop. First walking in, we were greeted right away and the restaurant is clean and pretty nice inside. It started filling up quick for dinner. They start you off w/chips and salsa. The chips were warm but salsa needed more flavor. The ceviche was good. The chicken flautas aren't on the dinner menu but you can still get them if you ask. They were ok but nothing stood out about them. The guacamole was really good, perfectly seasoned and light. The highlight of the evening was the dulce de Leche cheesecake for sure. Portion is small but it is heaven on the tastebuds, sweet and salty. Also comes w/a tiny side of black raspberry ice cream and 2 blueberries for visual appeal.

Catherine M.

Yelp
Was finally able to try out this place, Quaker Lane in Warwick, been looking forward to it for a while now...and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint! We dropped in on a Friday for a late lunch. The restaurant was quiet and and cool, not freezing like some places in the summer. It was clean and the waitstaff were friendly and helpful. Soft Latin music added to the ambiance. The Tequila bar was awesome, DH had a Don Julio Anejo, and I had the watermelon margarita. YUM! The chips were warm and crispy, salsa tasted homemade, and the guacamole was fresh! DH had the Carne Asada which was tender and tasty, and I had the Cochinita Pibil, so incredibly delicious. Bottom line...we'll definitely be back!

Kevin F.

Yelp
3 of 4 of us got sick. Thats enough said but also service was poor, had to go find our server for drinks that never arrived, wasnt that busy, several empty tables but still not attentive.

Marina O.

Yelp
The place is nice. It has a cool interior design. It has a nice location right next to the movie. My friends and I usually go there after the movie. The food is great, it tastes good. The portions are huge! Their burritos are giant! The prices are fair for this amount of food. They have great deals on tequilas. Their cocktails tasted great. The only problem is the service. The first time we were there, our waiter was nice and always checked on us. However, the second time was different. The waiter did not come to us. We were waiting for our water for 20 minutes, and he brought only one glass of water for a party of 10! We always asked other waiters to call ours because he disappeared all the time.

Melissa W.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on a rainy Sunday around noon. Lots of seating, helped right away, very cool atmosphere. Server was prompt and friendly. Food arrived timely and was delicious!!!! Queso and guac top notch, California burrito was awesome. Highly recommend!

Kerrie-Lynn M.

Yelp
It's hit or miss. Churros, get em'. They are delicious! Tacos and guacamole are sometimes good & sometimes average.

Edward B.

Yelp
First time eating in this place. The beer was Bad and the enchiladas were dry. They charged me extra for sour cream which should have been served with the dinner. The server was awesome but I will not return.

Danielle S.

Yelp
We came for dinner on a Friday night. The service was very good and our food was too. I had the shrimp burrito and it was a big portion. The guac is small for the price but good.

Wanda G.

Yelp

Yelp
Outstanding 5+ stars all around for food, location, service, ambiance, decor, and value! This restaurant has come a long way since we last visited years ago and based on my recent experience, I can honestly say that this is the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in the U.S. Family friendly, perfect for date nights, stimulating ambiance--fun and lively. I was impressed the minute the hubby and I walked in--visually stunning interior design with upbeat Latin music playing in the background. We were immediately greeted by the host, promptly seated, and shortly served chips with amazingly fresh and mouthwatering salsa (4 kinds of dips, including well made beans)--sooo good that i tried to savor every last bite before they were sadly taken away to make room for the main course. Someone often came around to check in on us and graciously offered refills for chips and drinks. Very attentive! The hubby ordered fish tacos (fried), which were gourmet quality--not your usual street tacos. Definitely made by a well-trained chef who knows how to balance the five basic tastes: sweet, salt, bitter, sour and umami. I will definitely order this for myself next time. I ordered ENCHILADAS TAMPIQUEÑAS (GF): Three queso fresco enchiladas covered in salsa verde, topped with grilled steak. Served with rice and beans. The enchiladas were Very tasty. Though I didn't like the steak, my partner loved the strong liver flavor untertone to it. Wish they offered horchata, a traditional Mexican cinnamon milk drink *wink*. The dessert menu looked tempting. Need to make room for next time! They have Lunch Specials! $10 for each entree item on this menu. Great deal! IMO, pricing is very reasonable considering the portion and quality of the food and upscale, yet casual dining. Located in a trendy dining plaza with other fine eatery in the suburb of Smithfield, where you don't have to worry about heavy traffic and limited parking.

Carrie S.

Yelp
Please do not eat here. There is much better Mexican Food in RI. Just drive a little further into Providence to eat. All of our food was literally dripping in oil. The steak was covered in oil, the tacos dripping in oil, and a puddle of oil at the bottom of our rice. One person had an immediate stomach ache and had to run to the bathroom. None of our large party of 9 finished their food and no one wanted to take it home for later. Customer Service needs a lot of work. No one seemed happy to be here. Our waiter was missing the entire time. He showed up to take our order and drop off the food. Other than that, we never saw him. The place was empty. Only two other tables. It was difficult to even get a drink refill.

Carrie B.

Yelp
We ordered the california burrito to share with cheese queso .. everything was fantastic!

Joe B.

Yelp
Best Burrito we have had since we have been to California. Strongly recommend the California Burrito! Authentic Mexican cuisine. Our waiter (bartender) was fantastic. Very knowledgeable of both food and drink. I was looking for a smooth silver tequila- margarita and his recommendation of ocho with house margarita mix was perfect. The house mix is great (some places it's hit or miss- not here. Top notch). Turnaround time was Fantastic for Friday night rush (6:00pm). My only recommendation to the business- bathrooms need updating. Other than that? Great atmosphere, great drink, great food, reasonable prices. Well done. We will return.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
The place is beautiful. You'd never think it was a Mexican Restaurant because the layout of the restaurant is just very modern and doesn't display the usual Mexican flair. For my drink I ordered the spicy cucumber margarita (which I make on the Dailey :) ) and it was delicious! We sat at the bar. The service was good. There was a lovely girl making guacamole at a small station in the corner. My taco entree came with 3 steak but I asked if they would substitute one of them for Shrimp. They were fine with that. They asked if I wanted a flower taco or corn taco. I chose corn because that was what they said is the norm. Honestly the corn taco was so super soft and it was very hard to handle. My order came with rice and refried beans. We also ordered the chicken quesadilla which was awesome. The place is beautiful, food was great, and I'll definitely be back!

John A.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican joint around! The plates are huge, the drinks are delicious and the staff is always so friendly! I recommend the burrito and a margarita, you will leave happy and full! Also the guacamole is amazing!!!

Bill Z.

Yelp
My biggest - only - complaint about Condesa is that I live too far away from it and don't visit Smithfield often enough to dine here as much as I'd like. I came here twice in one weekend, for lunch and dinner, and I was very satisfied both times. I enjoyed the decor, the atmosphere, the food, and the drinks, and I especially enjoyed the service. The staff are all energetic, professional, friendly and attentive, and it was a pleasure to be served by them. Both meals started with what could be - if you let it - an almost bottomless bowl of warm tortilla chips accompanied by a relish tray featuring refried beans and a variety of salsas of varying spiciness and smokiness. The beer, wine, and sangria list is extensive, but I zeroed in on the cocktails. They have an interesting variety of margaritas as well as their own take on some classic cocktails. The dinner menu is available during lunchtime, but the lunch offerings are a great deal. Both meals came on 2 plates, one containing all the sides and/or fixings. My Saturday dinner, the Molchajete, was a bubbly concoction of shrimp, beef, chicken, and ground chorizo, cheese and cactus (!), with leftover sauce and chorizo going onto the rice, and they definitely kicked it up a notch. Condesa is an excellent add to the dining options in the Smithfield area!

Rachel M.

Yelp
I heard about this restaurant on my community FB page when someone else asked for a recommendation for good Mexican. Several people said, "Condesa!" So I figured it was worth a try. Admittedly, this isn't in the best location. It's in the same space as a gas station and pizza place and the outdoor patio is basically in a parking lot. Indoors is much more pleasant, large and open with separated booths and tables. Immediately from perusing the menu, I could tell this was a slightly different type of Mexican food than I was used to. Growing up in AZ, we had a lot of cheese-slathered, beefy, fried chimichangas. At Condesa, they have a lot of seafood offerings with toasted pumpkin seeds and pineapple salsa. I'm guessing it's more derived from a coastal region of the country. I love the uniqueness of it. The flavors are light and spicy. I am absolutely addicted to the Cabo burrito that is stuffed with juicy shrimp and covered in smoky, mole sauce. If you're used to the more cheese-slathered, enchilada-sauce covered-type Mexican, this might not be your thing. But if you'd like to try something new, I would definitely recommend it.

Cheryl D.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and the last..literally spent my night on the bathroom floor vomiting profusely...do not recommend I will never return to either of their locations again...

Ernest L.

Yelp
Have tried this place twice. The first time, everything was excellent (service, food, drinks). The second time was bad (food too salty, service was slow, they said they were out of cheese for the cheese dip appetizer - really, out of cheese?, they couldn't make a Shirley Temple - really? - only requires ginger ale or lemon-lime soda, grenadine, and maraschino cherries)! They also brought us 2 diet cokes instead of the 1 that we asked for and they charged us for 2! The difference between visits - good meal/service on a Friday night, bad meal/service on a Sunday night. Maybe it is a cook/bartending/staff issue. Stay away on Sundays for now! Caveat emptor!

Shelley S.

Yelp
Overpriced mediocre Mexican. Not much flavor. Very disappointed . Nice atmosphere. Service was good , drinks were okay.

Holly W.

Yelp
Just had drinks at my recent visit. I had a red sangria. It was large and garnished with a slice of watermelon... my favorite! But for such a large drink and it cost me $11 I felt like there was barely any alcoholic in the drink! Lots of ice... I didn't know the cost of ice was that up there! Free chips and salsa at the bar. The also offered 4 varieties, that's cool. Not sure if I have the desire to return.

Rozet S.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from Condesa because we had a gift card but also I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. Lots of people have said so many great things about it! We ordered the chicken taco family special for 4 which came with a tub of chicken, rice, beans, chips, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa (a veryyy small amount for 4 people!), and a side of the cheese dip. Food was good, but not great--definitely not authentic Mexican food. All the sides were great but the chicken was disappointing--wasn't very flavorful. The cheese dip was delicious!

Lisa C.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in while we where in the area Smithfield RI. The staff and bartender was so nice. They offered help with the menu by letting us know what some of there favorites where. We had street corn. They brought 1 which was plenty but a few minutes later said it is supposed 2 be 2 ears..yumm had queso so delicious with chips and 4 kinds of salsa. Ended the mael with a burrito the size of a grown mand head! So much food. Great sharable portions. Very attentive team. I hope to be back soon. Anytime I come to the area I will be popping in. Thank you for full belly and great conversation.

Barbara Ann W.

Yelp
This is a great place for food and drinks that are as close to authentic as you'll find in these parts. The service is always great, too. They are very attentive and friendly, whether you're in the dining room or sitting at the bar. Speaking of which, the bar is a lot of fun. The bartenders are helpful, they serve the same free chips and four different salsa/dipping things as at a table. We gathered recently for a family birthday celebration and they were most accommodating. As usual, the drinks were top notch and the food was amazing. The setting and decor are subtle but classy - a nice accompaniment to the delicious colors and flavors of the meals and cocktails. On this occasion, I wasn't starving, so I shared a chicken quesadilla with a friend. It was delicious and plenty of food to satisfy us both. My daughter ordered the chicken tortilla soup, which she couldn't finish. The steamy, fragrant broth was hand poured over a bowl full of fresh ingredients from a tea pot - a very classy touch. Her boyfriend ordered sopes, which was a new dish to me. It was three, thick cornmeal flatbreads (similar to polenta), topped with meat, e and, lettuce and queso. He had three different kinds: chorizo, pork and steak. There were two orders of tacos at the table, one shrimp and one chicken. They were both enjoyed and came with a nice presentation of rice and a tortilla shell filled with beans.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Our favorite RI Mexican restaurant. Great food and drinks and the service was very good

andrew w.

Yelp
Food was good , carna asada. Service was spotty had to wait awhile once we sat , we weren't offered waters or even greeted. Weird. Was there for a engagement party , lady did t even say congratulations. Lol.

Jack T.

Yelp
Very good! Great service, reasonable pricing and delicious Mexican cuisine. I loved it!

Kyle R.

Yelp
Food was great, drinks were very good. You have to try the carajillo with the mazapan rim. Wife had the tacos pastor and loved them and I had the molcajete it was great.

Robert G.

Yelp
The biggest and tastiest burrito!!! Condesa in Smithfield has a welcoming ambiance and a helpful and friendly staff. We will definitely be back soon. Their California burrito and tacos de pollo are delicious, however, the highlight of the meal was the Chicken Tortilla Soup... so much flavor and texture. It might be tough to do but make sure you save room for dessert because we had churros topped with raspberry ice cream and chocolate sauce and it was definitely worth it.

Kyle G.

Yelp
Much better than average food with great margaritas. One of our favorite places to eat Mexican food.

Judi E.

Yelp
We have done a lot of Mexican over the years but I tried an entree I did not recognize, COCHIMITA PIBIL. It was fantastic. This was a while ago after an event in the area. Sadly, they're not that close to our home. Recently I tried this same dish elsewhere and was disappointed....dry and overcooked. Can't wait to make a trip back to Smithfield to try this version again!

Frank S.

Yelp
We came here based on the reviews we'd read about the food. We weren't disappointed, the food was very good. We had a chile releno ap, a couple of fajitas and a short rib plate. The food was nicely plated, the beans were in taco shells to prevent them from mixing with everything, the rice was piled nicely, etc. The chile releno was really good...maybe the best I've ever had. just the right amount of breading, and good cheese that didn't run all over the place. The salsa was not great. Prices are on the high side of typical Mex, but it was worth it. Our server Carlos was very good. The place is modern, open and hard inside so it's kind of noisy. Definitely recommended, I suspect it gets busy here on nights and weekends.

Sharon H.

Yelp
Ordered catering for work and everyone absolutely loved the food! Was a big hit, everyone went in for seconds. We got the Fajita bar - chicken, beef & veggie, and more than my vegetarians wanted the veg. A few of us had eaten there for dinner so we knew the food was good. We will definitely be getting this and more in the future for my group. Highly recommend. Thank you Ernesto and team!

Julie L.

Yelp
First time for dinner, so convenient on Douglas Pike, ample parking, had reservation for 2. Seated immediately, beautiful colors but not dark or gloomy, was busy but warm inviting vibe. Full bar also busy with people having a good time and separated from dining room so seated guests could enjoy their space. Our waitress was so sweet, she was so busy with a large party but she was so friendly, answered our questions and re- filled our drinks so quickly. Service was awesome, food came- was so colorful, perfectly presented and nice and hot. Smelled delicious too. We never tried tomales and ordered them as appetizer- we could've had them for dinner! They were sooo good- melted in our mouths. I ordered enchiladas with rice and veggies- i ate everything- the taste of the food just perfect. My husband ordered the molcejito? I misspelled I am sure- it came with rice, little taco bowls with beans and a separate stone " tandoori- like" raised server with 4 legs with shrimp, chicken, beef, chorizo, cactii, sauce, not sure what else in that stoneware but it came right from oven and looked and smelled espectacular! He was so happy- he is Italian and likes lots of food! We really enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back for more churros- they are my favorite! If you have never tried Mexican, you should try Condesa- there is something on their menu for you done right to make your tastebuds dance!
