CONFINE - PIZZA E CANTINA

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ Confine Pizza — Milan 🇮🇹 We tried the tasting menu (5–6 courses) and honestly, it was a mixed experience. The starters were impeccable, beautifully executed and easily the highlight of the night. But once we moved to the pizzas, things fell apart for me. Three pizzas on the menu were simply not enjoyable. While I appreciate creativity, I personally don’t think pizza should lose its foundational flavors, and that’s exactly what happened with toppings like pumpkin or tuna (which smelled strong). It felt like they were targeting a very specific niche rather than honoring the essence of Italian pizza. To see this spot ranked #4 in the world feels like a stretch. I’ve had dozens of pizzas that easily surpass this. Spending €310 for four, I expected far more consistency and authenticity, especially here in Milan where great food is everywhere. Service was fine, ambiance was stylish, but overall… not worth the hype. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Truly great concept. Shy flavors. Loved the innovative pizza tasting menu (took the signature menu) as an experience! But too often the dishes lacked some punch and were close to bland. The ossobucco croquette needs to be more juicy, the calzone with anchovies was a bit plain and the last piece of the meal with the reinterpretation of quatro formaggi should have been bolder imo. The Margherita cooked in the oven and friend as well as the Umaminara were delicious and this is the level of flavours I’d have liked to see along the whole menu. Would come back to have a whole pizza and maybe try the other tasting menu!

We didn’t have the tasting menu as it shall be whole table and I personally don’t like this idea as usually it only happens in Michelin. So we ordered one starter and two pizza from la carta. Pizza is tasty but not worth the price, starter is really good (forgot taking foto), so it depends on if you are willing to pay extra price to eat a pizza with cocktail service or not. Maybe if you go here is better recommend for tasting menu then I won’t consider it as a piazza place at all. Finally the table is SO SO small, as you can see in the foto and behind me there is bar so it’s so noisy and bad position. I don’t think we will come back again.

I told the people trying the tasting with me this would have “probably ruined pizza forever” for them (they are not Italian and not that accustomed to very nice pizza). They shrugged at first: “how good can this be, it’s just a pizza”. Well. Let’s just say they apologised after their first bite. 😇 I had the pleasure of eating at Confine twice in a few months. The food - especially the tasting experience! - is 100% worth the price tag. I am still unsure whether I would stop by again for a quick lunch but I might have been spoiled by said tasting. The inside, the atmosphere and the service are incredibly fancy, maybe even a bit too much/unexpected for a (albeit very very good and sophisticated) pizza place that also serves other delicacies. It was almost like eating at a Michelin starred restaurant, but in some cases it felt like they were trying too hard and felt a bit disingenuous. It might just be me though, some of the other people I ate at Confine with really enjoyed being taken care of this nicely. One thing that must be noted: the place is not very big and can be fairly crowded and moderately noisy.

Came here with my partner and we had such a great meal. It is probably one of the best pizza places we have ever dined at. We highly recommend it! We unfortunately could not order the set menu as my partner is pregnant so did not want to risk having any raw food that comes part of the experience. The starters were really well done and tasty. As for the pizzas the flavors were really great. The crust was soft and the dough very light. The tomato base was perfectly seasoned, and all the various toppings were just right and balanced. We cannot recommend this place enough. Confine is definitely high on our list to revisit should we find ourselves back in Milan. Totally deserving of the high praises and accolades in the top pizzas of the world list!

The best Pizza we ate in Milan, no doubt at all. We had the 4 dishes menu, the starter with the fish was great, the piazza Semplice was the top, also Botox with all types of cheeses was super special. The staff was professional and very friendly. I had the best time and even had the chance to talk to Francesco the chef and take a photo with him as a great memory. Highly recommend!

Didn’t expect much from a pizza omakase style but was blown away. Venue is incredibly clean with fast guest WiFi. Staff are very professional and well spoken in English. The 6 course meal is incredibly filling and underestimated their pizza slices. Their fried appetizers tasted great and crunchy but the pizza dough and flavors were too notch. Excellent margarita ingredients and the crust was perfectly fluffy. Well worth the visit. Hard to look at pizza the same.

Francesco has taken a Michelin approach to the art of pizza making. He is a master of his craft which reflects on the level of professionalism his staff has. From the moment we were greeted till we exited the restaurant. It’s was world class. Great experience.
