My friend introduced me to congo Bar & Grill (often referred to simply as Congo) in the Senayan area of Jakarta.
I consider this plave as a stylish and immersive cocktail bar, distinctively known for its exotic and atmospheric design.
The Vibe & Ambiance (The Main Attraction)- The strongest positive point is the unique forest/jungle theme- Really like their design that takes inspiration from rainforest landscapes and even films like Avatar.
Design Elements: The space features dark, intimate lighting, walls with rock or stone texture, moss-covered ceiling niches resembling cave openings, and tropical plants and foliage.
Atmosphere: It's seen as a small, intimate, and mysterious lounge/bar, perfect for laid-back conversations or a special night out.
Drinks & Cocktails
The Concept: The cocktail menu is highly conceptual, with sections named after animal icons (e.g., Leopard, Python, Monkey, Elephant), each defining a different flavor profile. This approach is often praised for its creativity.
Unique Offerings: Specific drinks like Bad Juju (complex, hidden bite) and Monkey Business (fruity, floral, creamy) are often highlighted as unique and flavorful. The bartenders are noted for being thoughtful and able to recommend drinks based on personal preferences.
Team - my experience with team is bit flat. Team was not cheerful. We were 4 people and drinks served were only 3. They forgot to serve long island Tea. Ideally in bars , all waiters count the people and ask for drinks and food. Sometimes recommend too. Here its not the same way.
We went on Saturday night at 9.30pm. It was almost empty. I am sure people were coming in. Still they forgot to serve one drink.
And no dj on Saturday. I call it a cozy and nice place to spend time
