If you like glamping, this is a good choice. It's situated less than a minute walk from the beach, with a gated fence around the compound. There are other amenities close by within walking distance, like groceries and restaurants. We had a small issue checking in. I booked this place online and booked the cabin with an outdoor kitchen, bathroom and 5 beds for $75. Upon arrival, we were told we only booked a tiny room with three beds and had to pay an additional $100 for the cabin we thought we had booked. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The outdoor kitchen has a refrigerator, coffee maker and cooking utensils.

The location is beautiful as the hostel is right by the beach. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We stayed as a group at the campsite, and of took time before we were provided with one roll of toilet paper and a bottle of soap. The bathrooms are grim, with mould covering the unstable ceiling, no light in the toilet and filthy showers. Monkeys are in the trees directly above, and their growling makes sleep a distant fantasy. Furthermore, half of the group woke up to excrement on their tents, and we were peed upon while walking around. There are mosquitoes everywhere with no precautions taken to reduce their numbers at all. We regret having chosen to stay here and I urge anyone looking into Congos Hostel and Camping to ignore the positive reviews, and to stay as far away from here as possible.

My stay at this hostel was extremely unpleasant. The room itself was in a terrible state, with a persistent moldy smell and stained blankets. Safety issues were prevalent, including the wall unexpectedly giving way when I leaned on it, and a shelf falling on my head, further highlighting the room's unsafe conditions, as well as the absence of a ladder for the bunk bed.||||Regarding payment, the communication was muddled and chaotic. I inquired about payment upon arrival, but the language barrier made it tough to communicate. What added to the frustration was the repeated promise by the receptionist that someone would arrive shortly to handle the payment. However, this promise was never fulfilled. On the second day of my stay, I also attempted to make the payment, but the receptionist told me that the responsible person was sleeping, which only added to the complications.||||It's worth noting that this individual did not attempt to contact me throughout my stay but only reached out when I had already left for the airport. Given the persistent lack of communication and presence from the hostel staff, it seemed reasonable to expect that he would have arranged for payment through Hostelworld, as he had never been physically present throughout my stay. His words were, "It's incredible we have to ask like this to pay" and "You didn't send us messages by WhatsApp or anything." This misunderstanding resulted in a series of distressing messages and calls demanding payment, including a threat to call the police. Furthermore, the responsible person repeatedly claimed that the receptionist had instructed us to pay multiple times, which was simply not the case.||||In summary, I strongly discourage potential guests from considering this hostel due to my profoundly unsatisfactory experience, which encompassed room issues, unprofessional communication, and payment complications, exacerbated by unfulfilled promises from the receptionist and even a threat to involve the police.

Ana was the woman who checked me in, but everyone I interacted with there was wonderful and accommodating! The rooms and bathrooms are simple, but the A/C was great at night and the cool water from the shower felt nice after a hot day at the beach. It’s a perfect spot if you’re there to relax, since they have hammocks and a table in the shade of the trees.

We stayed in a dorm room, although we were the only two staying at the time so had it to ourselves. |The room itself is quite run down and basic, but has all that you need. The AC works great too. A few ants in the bathroom but not too much to worry about. |The kitchen area is very well stocked, and is a good place to cook, sit and relax. |Anna, the owner, is very nice and did all she could to help us while we were there. |Very near to the beach, so great location, with monkeys in the trees above the house!|Don't spend much time at playa hermosa itself, go to playa bonita, about 20 mins towards playa Panama. Beautiful beach

We spent two nights here. Nice and quiet campground two minutes from the beach and five minute walk to some great restaurants. Friendly owners. Lots of squirrels, bird and monkeys in the trees. Be advised; is is also a popular place for locals to camp out and bbq on a Saturday morning (very nice atmosphere). They start quite early, but not before the howler monkeys have woken you up. Overall great place to spend a couple of days

We camped outside where the monkeys pooped onto our tents and made noise throughout the night that made it impossible to sleep. Dogs were also really loud and toilets not clean

The personnel is great. The owners always keep everything in order so it's pretty clean. Playa Hermosa is a nice beach and the hostel is really close. There are two spots to hang hammocks if you sleep in a hammock instead of a tent
