Conner's Supermarket

Been to OBX many times, but until this year had never ventured any further than past Salvo. Saw this supermarket while passing through Buxton, and it brought back memories of the small-town type of supermarkets of my childhood so I decided to stop. I must have spent 20+ minutes in there just taking it all in and just enjoying the vibe of the place. All the employees I encountered there were very friendly. Deli & Meat Dept were outstanding with a great variety, and all the aisles were impeccably well kept and stocked. Will definitely stop in again on future visits!

Searched "grocery nearby" food lion and Conner's supermarket pulls up. There's 1100 food lion locations currently. There's only one Conner's. So, I figured id try food lion later at one of the many opportunities that will present itself. What did I find? 1100 reasons why I was glad I went to Conner's. Everything you'd expect at a store, at good prices. Plus, a slew of smaller name brands that offer the same thing Conners offers, an experience you won't get everywhere and a better experience to boot. The staff, they're awesome. Its like they're people with a purpose, not a person with a number. Make sure to look at the history board, it has the founders, their kids, their kids, their kids, and possibly (can't quite remember) their kids. 5 generations, and I hope many more to come, that can all hold their heads high with the operation they maintain. I urge anyone and everyone visiting these parts to take advantage of the superior products and experience offered by Conner's supermarket.

We visited Conner's while camping in the area to pick up a few items and see what unique goodies we could find. We were so happy that this grocer is here and is doing a wonderful job serving the community. We will stop back by when we are in town. We love to support local!

Excellent grocer on the island. Quick in and out, fresh everything and very helpful staff. We like keeping our money local instead of going up the island to the big grocery chain and they rarely don’t have what you need. Maybe a little pricey compared to the big one, but it’s better than waiting in all the lines.

Love this grocery store on the island and always stock up for beach trips. Their chicken salad and potatoe salad are excellent. They have a great craft beer selection for such a small store

Great local supermarket in the area. I had found it looking for the Deli section. I was surprised with their cheese collection and just the wide assortment of items they carry. They had Keto bread! Prices are decent and the staff is very welcoming. Their prepared food in the deli was delicious, wish they had more items! Worked perfectly for us trying to put together a cheap meal and we got some local farm peanuts covered with chocolate for dessert. They have meats, alcohol, produce, fresh vegetables, healthy food options, frozen foods, beach items, you name it. I think it beats many of the giant supermarket chains. Shop local!

Employees were friendly and knowledgeable. They helped us find what we needed in a timely manner. The prices were reasonable and were right around the food lion prices if not cheaper.

I went to Connors on a Sunday afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised at the friendly service I received and how much baby stuff they had in stock for forgetful parents like us! Swim diapers, puddle jumpers, sippy cups, 360 cups, bibs, pacifiers...and so much more!

Wonderful store! Has just what you need and decent prices, considering how far off grid you are from the mainland! Everyone was friendly and we were able to get our dinner needs here!

I am really impressed with this store! From the outside, I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly proved wrong! It is clean and larger than it looks. They even have a deli! Give it a visit!

A great small town private owned grocery store! They have everything you need for vacation. The service is excellent, and the selection is also very good. I prefer going here over food lion in Avon! They have a full service meat and deli department, produce dept, a huge selection of wine and beer also. This is our go to grocery store!

This is the island grocery store experience you've been looking for where it seems like everyone knows each other but you. They have almost everything you could get at Food Lion, maybe a little more expensive but a lot more of the Newhart charm! I thought I was back in Ruth Anne's store in Cicely Alaska ("Northern Exposure" reference?) ! Anyway the staff was very helpful when I asked for *big surprise* sunburn/aloe lotion. Yes, I roasted myself but Conners was there to help. Go to Conners they have it all!

Not a big place size wise but had everything we needed. Very convenient to the Hatteress area and beyond. Staff is super helpful also.

What the heck happened?! You're now the most expensive place on the island. Can you say "Price gauging"!!?!! But on a positive, the cashier was a sweet person.

Stopped at Conner's while on vacation last week. This is a local grocery store that has everything you need to feed your family for the week. I like to patronize local places rather than "chain" stores. We will definitely stop again when in the area.

It's almost unbelievable the great selection this store had for everything I needed... from organic spices to sugar-free bbq sauces and fresh produce. The cashier was very fast, accurate and friendly. For being Memorial Day Weekend, the store was well stocked. The 30-min drive south from Rodanthe was definitely worth it, plus it's a cool area of the Cape to explore.

Well stocked grocery store in an area where there weren't many choices. Very large wine selection!

Truly a hidden gem. Driving by you wouldn't think much of what you might expect but then you walk in and get caught in every aisle just mesmerized by the vast items they carry. Better than food Lion, wegmans, giant, Whole Foods etc. back at home (No.VA) you'd have to go to all of the stores above to get the wide variety of items they have just in this one place. All inspired by the regulars who come year after year asking them to carry certain items (I asked...) it has become a foodie's favorite. Staff are accommodating (signs that say "if you don't see it, ask") cuz most likely they have it. I sound like a commercial or sales person but it's just that great. Check it out!!!

Connors is the best around when in Buxton, NC! Located very near to the entrance to the Lighthouse and beach access roads, it's a perfect stop to shop for grocery items. However the key to this little gem is the deli...The chicken salad is a must have for us every time we head to the beach. The made to order sandwiches are excellent, and there are several pre-made options to grab and go, I suggest the Boom-Boom chicken sub...there are even low cal items to select from as well. With a great selection of beer/wine, drinks and souvenirs, you'll find everything you need at Connors!

Outstanding lunch today! Just had the thin sliced country ham and homemade egg salad sandwich on artisan bread! Try the deli at Conner's, you will be glad you did!!

This was the BEST small little town supermarket. It looks small but they had EVERYTHING we wanted and all prices were reasonable. We were only in town for 1 week and did all of our food shopping here!

Everything you need in a single store. Butcher, deli, beer, beach. Produce, bakery, gourmet. No need to go anywhere else.

Nice upscale grocery store. It was clean & well stocked. The deli counter had very fresh Boar's Head cold cuts.

DO NOT SLEEP ON CONNER'S this place is super legit and has everything you could possibly want from a beach town grocery store. Believe me y'all, I've been to my share of these kinds of places and they're all basically the same. Decent service, friendly enough people, and prices triple what you're used to. Conner's is similar, but their selection is psychotic. Yes you might be paying $14 for a 4-pack, but it is something local that you haven't heard of. Their beer and wine selection is out-of-this-world good. They have extremely top shelf stuff, and also the lowest fare you need. We bought a reusable bag, on the side it says "from caviar to PBR, we've got it all.". Truer words, etc Get some pimento (the caviar of the south) and little croissants for a cheapo lunch. Also snag some pasta salad. Closes at 9, so don't be too late.

We love Conner's! Wonderful, well stocked, friendly store. Fast service. Excellent deli. Great beer and wine selection! Go here while visiting HI, you will love it.

My husband and I have been vacationing on Hatteras Island for decades. Conners grocery store has always been there for us. This year, with COVID, they offered ordering via email and curbside pickup! We placed a $300+ order and it was absolutely flawless. I can't thank them enough!

Top Shelf service from the friendly peeps at Conner's ! Great spot to pick up all we needed. No need to go to Food Lion. We stopped here for a quick in and out if we needed anything... (Stopped in 4 or 5 times). We spent most of our $$ here as well as we cooked our dinners for ourselves in our rental all week. The isle where they have the Nick Nack gifts and such has Magnets, shot glasses , T shirts..ECT.. We had the best tasty Sausage , Chicken, Thick pork chops and Steak . YUMMY meats and loved the The Ice cream cookies They were out of this world! Lemon cookie with Lav Blueberry Ice cream !!! Support small Biz Shop @ Conner's. See you next time.

Can't say enough about Conners! This is the upscale foodie outpost on Hatteras Island. I can't get fresh mint and fresh chives or phyllo dough at most bigger luxury supermarkets in Virginia, but Connets has it in December. Staff was friendly, helpful and on point. It's really a pleasure. Thank you!

Great little market in Buxton NC, they everything you need for a stay. No need to go elsewhere and the service is the best!

Amazing grocery store right near the Hatteras Light. They have everything! Their motto is "PBR to Caviar" and I believe it. Stop by for a deli sandwich and picnic supplies, gourmet snacks, and TP. And a sweet thank you to the gal who made my sandwich today- I wondered if you had butter instead of mayo, and I saw you sneak into the market for butter for my sandwich! Thanks for the delicious lunch, which I am eating on the sand, enjoying myself!

This place is so special and amazing. My favorite thing about this place is it's family owned and has been open for a very long time. They have so many unique things other grocery stores don't have. Their customer service is like nothing I've ever seen. They are very friendly and willing to stop everything to help their customers. If they don't have what you want, they will special order it for you.

This has been my biggest surprise on Hatteras Island. Nowhere on the Outer Banks would I have expected to find a gem like this. They've a great deli, selection of (including vegan ones) of hard to find items in such a remote area, outstanding meat department and general items as well. The service can't be beat at this family owned and operated store! You WILL love it!

If you need groceries and you're on "Hatter's" then Connors is your treasure trove. All the staples + wine & beer, organic stuff as well as a good selection of spices and Asian ingredients. I went in looking for something deliberately difficult to find and was ecstatic to discover it was known and stocked. Friendly people and a great choice.

This grocery store is a Hatteras Island staple and the choice if you want to support a locally owned store (instead of the Food Lion). My family has been vacationing here for over 40 years and it has yet to let us down. It has your essentials plus great service at the deli and the meat is solid for any meals you decide to stay in for instead of going out. While the Red and White seems to have scaled back big time (unfortunately - another nice local grocery store), Connors is the way to go

Conner's is an asset on Hatteras Island. Many folks will drive to Avon to go to Food Lion, but it really is not necessary with the variety and quality that Conner's has to offer. Always impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff as well. Have been going here for years during our beach vacations and hope to continue our patronage for years to come.

This is a great local store. I called ahead to make sure they had Boars Head (its gluten free) lunchmeat (Food Lion does not) and they not only had it but I have never seen it so cheap anywhere. They also had a very large selection of fresh and a lot of local produce. All prices I saw were comparable to Food Lion and some cheaper. The staff is friendly (unlike Food Lion) I like to buy local at every opportunity.

Probably the coolest little super market ive ever been too. We are locals, and truth be told, we choose shopping here over food lion. They have everything you could imagine or need, which is wild considering how small town they are. Every single employee is as nice as could be, and i just love comming in here. Probably come in at least every other day.

When I'm in the outer banks, and I have a choice, I prefer to give my money to local establishments rather than a chain. So when I'm in Hatteras and we need to hit the store, I go to Conner's. In Avon I prefer Village, however they're closed for the rest of the season due to the hurricane. You can find all the essentials you need here.

Surprised by how many fresh produce and grocery choices they had. Also had non-grocery options like shampoo and paper/plastic products.

Good restaurant, especially for the area. Not as big and not the selection you will get a the Food Lion about 20 minutes north, but definitely good enough - who wants to drive 20 minutes to and 20 minutes back to a bigger market when you have the beach to get back to. They are very friendly there as well, helpful when we had specific things we were looking for. Prices decent. Of note, the beer selection here is outstanding. Really good microbrew section!

Conners has a little of everything with a very good deli. Avoid the crowds at Food Lion. Feels like the small hometown grocery of my childhood.

What a pleasure to discover an alternative to Food Lion's craziness. If you're an end of the islander this is the place. Huge variety of food including organic and gluten-free. Boars Head deli! Beer, wine, and most of all a welcoming knowledgeable, friendly staff.

I actually did not go in, but my fiancee did and he said it had everything we needed. Right across the street from where we stayed they were fully stocked

Decent selection of basic foods that you need. The premade sandwiches were decent and superior to what you get at a typical supermarket. On a related/unrelated note, I've noticed that many beach towns have people who are working on seasonal visas. Nothing bad or good but I overheard a manager of some type teaching two girls of possibly Eastern European origin the finer points of the southern accent. Kinda an interesting moment. Globalism knows no bounds.

Did a pickup order with Connors.. Awesome!! Everyone that we dealt with were fantastic! Will definitely be using them again. We are here for 2 weeks!! Give them a try..you won't be disappointed! Great service!

I have passed this grocery store many times in a rush to catch the next ferry. One day I had some extra time and went inside. What a great store! The selection was great and the prices were not over the top like some other stores on the Outer Banks. I had their Thai Chicken wrap today and it was amazing!!!

We have been going to Buxton and Conners for 50 years and have always gotten great service and fresh food there. Excellent service from the butcher, deli, and check out folks. It's amazing how fresh everything is and the amount of items they now carry. We believe in shopping local and with the addition of Angela and Becky and their husbands, the Conner legacy will continue. It warms my heart to see the old guy (John) and his bride of 47 years just enjoying life and family. By the way, you have to have a T bone or one their strip steaks next time you are there. They have everything you need on OBX. Beer/wine, beach chairs, ready made foods, coolers, cozy's, they have RAPA SCRAPPLE. Made my whole week!

Nice store friendly staff. Almost everything you need for your island stay (a few items missing that I was looking for - spices & fruit). The prices are a bit higher than the mainland but not to bad. Very clean and the items they did have are name brand and often organic. The fruit & veggies were ok not the freshest.
