My wife and I stayed at the Conrad Hotel Istanbul for three nights in July 2013. In terms of location, service, room quality, food quality, and overall satisfaction, each night was better than the previous one. If you're traveling to Istanbul for business or pleasure, you absolutely must consider the Conrad.
As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I was upgraded to a suite on the Executive Floor with access to the wonderful Executive Lounge. The views from the lounge's 15th floor roof deck were magnificent, and the lounge was well-stocked throughout the day with juices, coffee, finger foods, and wine and beer in the evening. Sitting on the deck, sipping a chilled glass of surprisingly good Turkish white wine whilst listening to the evening Call for Prayers was one of the highlights of our stay at the Conrad.
In terms of customer service, the Conrad staff went out of their way to meet our requests. Extra pillows? Delivered in ten minutes. Forgot your toothpaste? Tube on the way, madam. Access to the gym? The cardio center is open 24 hours for our guests. Coffee refill at breakfast? Done.
Superlative service differentiates the Conrad from most hotels I've stayed at internationally (and that's a very long list). To wit: I accidentally left a Thomas Pink shirt hanging in the closet at the Conrad. I discovered the loss two days after we checked out en route to Gallipoli and Cannakkale. When we returned to the hotel a week later, I inquired--forlornly--about the shirt. Lo and behold, a smiling staff member delivered the shirt to my room--laundered and pressed--within an hour.
Congrats, Conrad Hotel Istanbul, for getting service right. Your compatriots in America could learn a lesson or two from your attentiveness, friendliness, and value.
