We had a wonderful experience staying at the Conscious Hotel Museum Square location. It was my first visit to Amsterdam, so I took my best guest on the location, and boy did I choose well. The hotel is a 5 minutes walk to the Van Gogh and Rijk museums, a 10-minute walk to the lovely Vondelpark, and just 15 minutes to the heart of the city centre.|The room was spacious, quiet, and super clean. Our room overlooked the back garden and had french doors that opened to that space. The bed was large and so comfortable, and came with multiple pillow options! The shower had great pressure and quick heat. I found the bathroom sink a little shallow and oddly placed.|We appreciated having the in-room safe but a small fridge to hold leftovers, and cold drinks would have been welcome. And as we were there for six nights, we could have used more space to unpack our clothes.|Every staff member we had the pleasure to interact with was friendly, helpful, and made it feel like a home away from home. I would highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel has an excellent location — close to the airport, museums, the city center, and the concert hall. The room was spacious, and those facing the back are very quiet, with no street noise at all. I’d like to mention the lovely lady from housekeeping (I didn’t catch her name, but she’s from Israel) — she was extremely kind, cheerful, and energetic. Honestly, she deserves to be at the front desk. She was by far the most customer-oriented staff member I met, and she really made a difference in my overall experience. Now, the parts I didn’t like: there’s no real reception. There’s a person present, but that same person is also the bartender, the receptionist, and basically does everything. Also, none of the rooms have an actual bathroom door. There’s only a small door separating the toilet, but not the shower area. Apparently, if you ask, they can provide a panel as a temporary “door,” but this really shouldn’t be the case in a 4-star hotel. Another issue — the hotel provides almost no amenities. Only soap and shampoo are included — no vanity kit, sewing kit, toothbrush or toothpaste, slippers, or minibar. You can buy some of these at the hotel, but the prices are heavily marked up, which feels unreasonable for this category of accommodation. Overall, the location and the kindness of the housekeeping lady were definite positives, but several aspects of comfort and service did not meet 4-star expectations.

Lovely 3 night stay in 2 rooms with family. Cool minimalist rooms, huge bed. The Cheese and Wine is a lovely touch, especially after a day sightseeing. Location is amazing, bus to airport outside the hotel. Pricey breakfast (20e, may be a fair value) was too much for a family of 5 so went elsewhere.

This was our favorite hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were more than accommodating (helped us check in super early for free & gave us free delicious lattes our first day; they had an upgraded room available so she gave us that as well!) and super friendly. They were so attentive and helpful. The room was beautiful and extremely clean with a beautiful view of the Amsterdam streets. It is very close to bus and tram stops, as well as many restaurants and cafes. If we ever come back to. Amsterdam, we will definitely stay here again!

Google
Good location, welcoming staff, nice, healthy breakfast. Lovely garden. Overpriced, it’s like staying at a friends house, using their bedroom and their bathroom, a refurbished wardrobe. Outdated photos, worn down, very noisy from the street. Not a choice in warm seasons.|Is ”Conscious” today to have a bathtub? Considering that the place exclude the fridge for conscious reasons.

Our second time staying here. The location is excellent next to the museums and public transport, but nestled within a quiet street and lovely neighbourhood. ||The rooms and facilities are fantastic, with a sustainability ethos. From housekeeping to customer service, the team went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, welcoming and memorable. ||Highly recommended!!

Google
We chose it for the location. Location is perfect, close to Van Gogh Museum and the concert hall, amazing acoustics there. But this hotel looks and feels more like a 3star hotel, the bathroom is not separated by a door from the sleeping space, when you shower, all the steam goes into the room, not to mention you can easily disturb the other person in the room with the light and noise while you are showering and using the sink. They don't have any amenities, just soap and shower gel. We had to buy our own slippers and they didn't even have them at the reception, bought from a store in town, because the floors are made from ciment and it was a pain to walk on that ice cold floor. They don't offer a vanity kit or a shoe sponge, there is no closet, just a few hangers, hang over an iron thing. Also, pay attention to the pillow covers, ours were broken and we asked to be changed. I would recommand this hotel if you don't have high hopes and really like the museums area and to be close to the airport, line 396 is a direct bus line to this hotel.

Google
This hotel has very poor hygiene. A stray cat roams inside, even though they claim "pets are not allowed". Staff touch the cat and then serve drinks and food (breakfast) without washing their hands, which is unacceptable. People with allergies should be careful. Both management and staff are unprofessional and don’t take complaints seriously.

Yelp
Great hotel. Very friendly people. Clean, Smart, Close to US consulate, Rijksmuseum, PC Hoofdstraat, but without the crazy busyness. Highly recommend

Yelp
We loved this place. We thought everyone was very kind and our room was lovely- and large. The shower was fantastic with some of the best water pressure I've had anywhere. It was tempting to take a couple of showers a day. There is a school near the hotel- so if you sleep late the noise of children might bother you if you don't use earplugs. We are early risers, so it was not a problem. The breakfast was wonderful and served in a beautiful setting. The back patio is really peaceful and pretty- as is the inside eating area. Coffee and tea were delicious. The wine happy hour was a lot of fun. I loved the area. There's a store quite close and of course the symphony is just down the street and the Rijksmuseum is an easy walk. The Vondelpark is very close and we enjoyed a stroll there in the mornings. Lots of wonderful eateries around and a fun (small) farmer's market just a block away. We have stayed in many places in Amsterdam but this place is my favorite. It was the best location for price and the most comfortable and the friendliest.

Yelp
I had a quick, but nice stay at the Conscious Hotel Museum Square. Its a bit away from downtown, but 10-15 min walk from many museums as well as the tram. They have an all-digital process for check-in and out, but when checking-in, I prefer to deal with a person to address questions etc. Lucky an attendant was available when I was checking-in and she was very accommodating. The room was exactly as advertised! I felt much relieved, as at times pictures can be deceiving. It was spacious, with a sleek modern feel to it. There was a small safe as well as a bar to hang clothing (not a proper closet, which is common in Europe). Note there was no refrigerator or microwave. My room was on the first floor right next to the elevators, which I thought was going to be problematic but I actually didn't hear anything at all (or maybe they had low occupancy at the time?). My only qualm was that the room did not have AC! The receptionist explained that they are a "flat roof building" where the heat is expected to rise, and only the 4th floor rooms have AC. The balcony door does open but since there is no screen, I was weary of bugs and did not keep it open all night. The room was equipped with a fan but I still woke up drenched in sweat.

Yelp
My family of four had two excellent rooms near one another for a four-night stay to primarily visit the nearby museum district and it did not disappoint. Before I post more thought it is imperative that visitors secure tickets to the art museums in advance. My son-in-law spoke with several guests who arrived without tickets and were unable to see the Vermeer and the Van Gogh exhibits as they were sold out. The museums are very close to the hotel - just a few minutes walk. The Rijks Museum is large and filled with a variety of art. We saw the Vermeer exhibit there. The Van Gogh Museum is among the best I've ever been to. Be prepared for large crowds of photo-taking tourists at all the museums. There is a very convenient underground grocery store right next to the Stedelijk Museum that is fully stocked with whatever you need and the prices were exceptionally low compared to U.S. grocery stores. For example, you will find an ample selection of excellent wines at very low prices. I bought an exceptional red from Spain for 5.99 Euros. Speaking of Euros, you don't need any. Many places will not even accept cash. All you need is a chip card for everything. Tipping was never expected or pressed for. Most taxis to the downtown area (The Anne Frank and the Rembrandt House, for example) were right at 20 Euros each way to and from the hotel. Unless you're a frequent and confident bicycle rider I don't recommend renting one to get around. The locals ride very fast and can be unforgiving if you stray into the bike lane when walking. If art is what you're going for then this has to be the best hotel option for art lovers. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
I just finished a week at the Conscious Hotel at Museum Square. I had only one problem with the hotel and will mention at the end of this review. The location was excellent for walking to the museums. I have an elderly parent that joined me and she was able to walk to and from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gough Museum. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms had newer fixtures. The shower was large for a European hotel. I enjoyed being able to have breakfast at the hotel prior to venturing out around Amsterdam. Only gripes I had about my stay was the communication when booking and the checking out process. When I initially book the room in January, I didn't get much of a response from the hotel. I did receive a booking number, but not mention of the dates I would be there and the amount. When trying to communicate through their website, I didn't find they were very responsive. It took awhile to get an email confirmation with the dates associated with my reservation. The checking out process should have been simple, but the front desk mixed my room up with a family member. Even after letting them know multiple times, they still couldn't get it right. The other problem I ran into was getting charged twice. I book back in January/February and was charged the full amount for just the room. When I checked out, Conscious Hotel charged again. I tried to contact them via their website, and no response back. I had to call my credit card company to dispute the double charging. My message to the hotel is I had a great time and enjoyed most of my services; however, you need to improve on your administrative functions at the front desk. Your staff struggle with being able to print out receipts, and none of your staff could get my room number correct. I do want to return to your hotel, but you will need to make an effort to apologize for my inconvenience and improve on your reservation check out process.

Yelp
Not bad~ Loved the smile we got from the hotel concierge when we first checked in around 10pm on a Saturday night. It definitely gave us a positive energy :) and made us want to go out and explore the city right away! The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. I also liked the complimentary breakfast~ Their sausage was really good and I also appreciated the cold cuts an the cheese~ I do wish that I stayed a little more inland since the museum square was a bit further away from the main area with the canals, but it wasn't too far. The hotel is very close to all the museums which works because you want to go to the museums during the day and slowly walk up to the canal areas later in the day. (The other Conscious hotel in Vondelpark is even further away fyi)

Yelp
I had an excellent 2-nights stay! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the housekeeper in particular was so energetic and friendly she lit up the room! The breakfast is delicious (all organic), the common area on the ground floor is cosy and perfect for a chilled glass of wine or beer at the end of the day! The room are simple, could do with an update (windows let in some cold air), but are very comfortable and clean! I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Excellent hotel!! Prime location - walking distance to Rijksmuseum, Concert Hall, Van Gogh, ... The hosts are genuinely personable, helpful, affable, engaging. Maya and Colin went out of their way to show us the way of parking sensibly and economically in Amsterdam. Colin recommended some great eating venues, just an all around great guy. Kudos to this hotel and the people who run it effortlessly and paperless-ly!!

Yelp
Our experience there was delightful. The room was clean and cozy. And the location alongside all the museums was great. But what really made the stay wonderful was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was welcoming, warm and helpful. It was like staying with friends. We loved our stay in Amsterdam and the hotel made that stay even better. Could not recommend it more highly

Yelp
John Q's review is so comprehensive that I really don't have much to add, but I will say that I enjoyed my two-night stay here and that I didn't mind the location being a little away from the center, particularly since I rented a bike from the hotel (10 euro a day, if I remember correctly) and since I was lucky enough to have in rain during my day. Then again, if you're going to be going out late at night, and you don't want to bike or take a taxi, you'll find that the late-night transit service (regular service ends around 12:30a) isn't ideal for this location.
