Conscious Hotel Amsterdam City (The Tire Station)

Location: Not the greatest location for either train stations or the city center, but not the worst either. You do need to walk a bit for three or four minutes and know which tram stop to catch to get into the center. Go the wrong way and it's a much longer walk and a change to do that. Three or four minutes isn't bad, but the center isn't right outside the door. Getting a taxi from the train station to the hotel is prohibitively expensive. The room we stayed in was for three and it was huge and air conditioned. The beds were large, too, and were very comfortable. The staff were pleasant and welcoming. The hotel operates it's own cafe in addition to having an area for those who order breakfast in with their room. We preferred to eat, ad hoc, in the cafe, because we weren't sure about when, what and if we'd eat. The pastries and coffee were both excellent. I'd definitely stay here again.

We had a delightful four-night stay here this month. This boutique hotel is a short walk to the Surinameplein tram stop, which offers easy access to the city. Vondelpark is just around the corner from the hotel and is a wonderful place to visit. The coffee shop downstairs offers vegan options for muffins, etc. and a fantastic cup of coffee. The room itself was quiet and clean, and larger than I expected. Only minor issue is limited places to unpack or store clothes. We chose this Conscious Hotel location because it has air conditioning - big plus in August!

The hotel is let down badly by a couple of things. Firstly we were in Amsterdam for a wedding celebration and so had much formal clothing with us. There is absolutely minimal clothing storage, just a few hangers above a 1 metre high alcove above the kettle and tea coffee tray. Another smaller alcove had books and a mannequin taking the space in it for aesthetic effect. There was wasted space between the wall unit and the door which could have been used for a hanging rail. When we asked reception staff if they had any solution such as a clothing rack, they said no, they had heard it all before and when I said why does it not get addressed, they just shrugged. Despite harping on about the environment, the design of the room is largely impractical.|Our room was only cleaned once on the first day out of 4 days. Although we left our towels hanging, usually a sign that you don’t need them changed, they were changed, despite the hotel majoring in its environmental credentials. We never did know why our room was ignored for the next 3 days. |Apart from that, our room was quiet, the hotel is just functional. Breakfast does not contain any meat items but was adequate. Breakfast staff were friendly and helpful.|It’s a bit out of the centre but bus routes are quite near by.|Overall, I would only recommend for a reasonably priced overnight stay.

Visited her in mid August with my partner and 2 kids (ages 16 and 12). We had twin rooms. We did request adjoining but wasn't available at the time.||The hotel was fine. Little things could make the stay better, silly things, for example, a bin in the room, the wifi code could be more obvious, no powdered/sachet milk for a coffee, a fridge! ||Location wise, its right at the end of the Vondelpark. Its a good 20 minute walk to the hustle of the city but the trams run so regularly and are cheap from just down the road. A few bars around, decent supermarket. So location wise for the money, all good.||Would I stay again? No. But it was fine.

Wonderful bright, clean and comfortable hotel. Room was spotless and very stylish. Bed and sheets were soooo comfy.|Staff all pleasant and helpful. Breakfast excellent with lots of choice.|Lovely to have a nice coffee after a day/night out. Fresh water available and a free glass of wine once a day 😀|No faults at all. We had a fabulous time.

Overall good and worth the prices ! I liked the coffee in the morning as well. Also offer bikes for rental! Recommendation! 🙏🏻🤍😊

This place is a GEM. So affordable for a great location and a very nice room. Bigger than I expected. Spotlessly clean. Very comfy bed and posh sheets| Room nice and cool even in the hottest day of year. Very friendly staff| Cafe downstairs is very welcoming and trendy and also a good place to sit and work - WiFi was great in room and cafe| A hotel room like this in London (where I live) would be ar least three times the price! Will definitely come back to stay again when I am in Amsterdam next time. Chic and a bargain!

Super! I had doubts when booking this hotel, but after visiting, I can confidently say it was totally the right choice, and they are great in everything! The location is perfect: trams are nearby, it's quiet, and there is no outside noise. Water canals and a park are also nearby. It's not far from the city center. Breakfast is perfect: they offer a wide choice of different foods. They make vegan food, and while I am not vegan myself, I was always full, and everything was fresh and super tasty! Amazing breakfast! The rooms are good: a standard room, clean, quiet, with a nice view of the city life from the window. I had a special request to be accommodated on the highest possible floor, and they fulfilled it. The bathroom has a cozy design, a very good shower, no leaks, and it was tidy. So, overall, I would recommend it and definitely will visit again. Special thanks to the staff for the warm conversations and clean room.

Room and service was good, but my airpods sat in my room for 3 weeks before getting taken off the property. Called multiple times to have them retrieved and eventually got hung up on. Keep your stuff close.

A wonderfully modern hotel in a great location with moderate pricing! Perfect! I had a fantastic stay at The Tire Station. I was pleasantly surprised everyday at how wonderful the hotel was. Things I really loved: -Streamlined DIY (do-it-yourself) check-in that takes 60 seconds to complete -Friendly and helpful staff -Modern property that has a playful, delightful feel -The pictures online look EXACTLY like the hotel itself -Clean, spacious rooms -Sticky Fingers (the cafe in the lobby that has delicious desserts and great coffee/teas) Additional pro-tips: -Free happy hour at the adjacent Moer restaurant from 6-7p for hotel guests -Discounted guest passes to the fancy David Lloyd gym next door (which has a sauna/steam room and pool) -Bike rentals (€15 per day) From what I researched in the Vondelpark area, The Tire Station (or its nearby sister hotel, Conscious Hotel Vondelpark) is the best options in terms of convenience, quality and price. A group of my friends and I booked to stay with the tire station during spring break. We are graduate students studying health care and decided to deviate to Amsterdam after volunteering for 2 weeks providing healthcare services to children with disabilities in Africa. We were excited to rest and relax after our philanthropy mission in Ghana, West Africa and booked the "Conscious" Hotel because we really resonated with their mission and wanted to invest our money in a place that had moral values. Unfortunately, we were VERY wrong to choose this hotel. Our trip was cancelled by our university due to the coronavirus outbreak and EVERY single accommodation and airline took pity on our situation and reimbursed us. My friend called the front desk several times and was met with rude employees and a lack of understanding despite providing them with documentation stating our trip was forcibly cancelled. I am SO disappointed in this hotel and their customer service. So much for being conscious and considerate. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

A group of me and my classmates had a layover in Amsterdam, where we planned to deviate for a few days after completing a university organized, humanitarian trip to Ghana, Africa. We booked our stay at The Conscious Hotel and were very excited because we loved their vibe and overall mission. Unfortunately, our trip was cancelled by our university due to the global health crisis caused by the spread of coronavirus. We had no control over this situation and our university forbade us from traveling internationally until further notice. All of our airlines and other accommodations provided us a full refund, as they understood the complexity of the evolving global crisis. The Conscious Hotel, however, was not accommodating whatsoever and refused to offer my group a refund, despite having written documentation that our trip was forcibly cancelled. The employees were rude, inconsiderate, and refused to compromise. It is so disappointing that this hotel would rather profit off of us and make a couple hundred of dollars than do the right thing. Would not recommend this hotel!!!

This hotel is looking to make a profit and does not care about their customers whatsoever. I originally booked this hotel due to their look and mission behind the hotels. I was supposed to stay here with a group of friends in March after completing a medical internship, however due to the global health crisis due to Coronavirus, my university cancelled my trip. Every single one of the other hotels, airlines and reservations that we had made were beyond accommodating and instantly reimbursed me-- no questions asked. I have called the Conscious Hotel three times to plead for a refund, as this cancellation is affecting people worldwide. We are all students, with limited funds as it is. I was met with rude, unaccommodating staff who simply were unwilling to help a group of students. Never, in all the years of my travel have I had a situation like this. Truly, truly disappointed.
