City Guide: Amsterdam
Conscious Hotel The Tire Station

Google
We stayed there for about six nights, and everything was perfect (great location, great service, nice view). Our room was spotless, and we really appreciated the hotel’s eco-friendly approach. At some point during one evening we needed medical assistance, there’s always someone at the reception (day and night) and Sjirin, a member of the hotel staff, was incredibly helpful and supportive. Thank you so much for making our stay even better! 😊

About 200m from the tram stop - €2 / 20 mins on the number 17 to the central station this was a great choice. Although a little out - 40 mins walk which was very doable - rooms were great - we had a triple bedded room - good size, decent bathroom and WiFi. Really good public areas with a bar and food and good attentive staff. If you want a cheaper alternative to typical Amsterdam prices, it’s worth looking at

A nice hotel with very spacious rooms; we were satisfied. The bathroom was just a bit cold. The view is quite nice, the price is reasonable, there is a nice café at the entrance, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Prices are normal and the taste is okay, and the location isn’t bad either.

I would like to share some feedback regarding our recent stay at your hotel. Our arrival on Sunday afternoon felt rather disappointing. Your staff seemed unaware of the “winter package,” and there was no background music or welcoming atmosphere at the reception. After speaking with you on the phone, the young lady at the front desk kindly tried to assist us and mentioned that we would receive a link for the “digital guide tour” the following day. Unfortunately, the next morning, the receptionist had no idea what this was about. This “winter package” therefore appears to be mainly a marketing concept rather than an actual experience provided to guests. During our stay on Monday, we also received three WhatsApp messages asking us to check in — which seems to indicate a technical issue with your automated system. Last night, the young man left alone at the reception did not know how to prepare a hot chocolate — supposedly included and unlimited in your “winter package.” He admitted it was his first day. I then asked for tea, simply hot water, he also didn’t know how to prepare it. This is not what one would expect from a professional hotel service. In addition, our room keys stopped working at noon, even though we had paid for a late check-out. The only positive aspect of our stay was the breakfast — mainly the quality of the food — as the staff were not particularly friendly. This morning, one of the waiters started clearing our table while we were still at the buffet, and as a result, we were left without fruit or croissants. Given all these inconveniences, and considering we paid €410 for two nights, I would kindly request a gesture of goodwill or partial refund to reflect the experience we had. Overall, it was a rather disappointing stay, especially considering the price paid — from check-in to check-out. I look forward to hearing from you soon Kind regards,

Tristan

Google
A really friendly hotel and a great base for exploring Amsterdam for a few days. Location was excellent, being away from the centre, but still walkable and being close to tram stops and the Vondelpark meant our stay was very relaxing. Breakfast was really nice, appreciated it being fully vegetarian, plenty of options and a nice relaxed setting. Room was very comfortable, quiet, and didn't get too hot and stuffy.

Pros:|Big room|Great AC |Close to bus||Cons:|Not as close to tourist spots. About 30 min walk.||Check in was easy. We got there about two hours early and they were nice enough to let us into our room. You can start the chicken process via link they sent you before arriving.||The room: ours had three twin beds. The down comforter was perfect. The beds were a little firm. They all had an outlet near the bed and a light. The room has an electric kettle. They provide tea and coffee.||The bathroom: nice and modern. The water always ran perfect temperature. They do have shampoo, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. There is a blow dryer available.||If you’re in the lobby between 5-6pm, you can get a complimentary glass of wine. ||Everything is about a 30-40 min walk except for Vondelpark that is only a few minutes away.

The room is very nice, the shower has strong pressure and is good. The bathroom is nice. I found the reception staff to be very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was decent, but definitely not the best hotel breakfast I have had. The location of the hotel is bad, it is not in the city center at all. But you can take the tram, there is a tram station not too far from the hotel. You can also just ask the hotel to order a taxi.

Overall the stay was okay - the concept of the hotel is very cool and love how economically conscious they are trying to be. The rooms were quite small but as other reviews state - you get what you pay for and overall it was a pretty good deal as long as you're okay with being quite far from city central for this particular location. The thing that bothered me most was that we took off the "skip my room sign" on our 3rd day to get a mid-trip clean, our room was NOT cleaned and when we asked the front desk about it, one of the girls kept pushing that we must have kept the sign on regardless of how much we explained we took it off. The other girl was nice, said she'd make a note to have our room cleaned first thing the following morning but again, our room was again NOT cleaned and cleaners showed up at 3pm instead (we had already come back to the room for a mid-day refresh at 2pm). I don't think 3pm is considered first thing in the morning, especially since the cleaners told us they couldn't come back as they were done for the day. The hospitality and service overall was very disappointing compared to the reviews but don't think that's their priority anyway since overall the entire stay including check-in/check-out is self service.

Yelp
A wonderfully modern hotel in a great location with moderate pricing! Perfect! I had a fantastic stay at The Tire Station. I was pleasantly surprised everyday at how wonderful the hotel was. Things I really loved: -Streamlined DIY (do-it-yourself) check-in that takes 60 seconds to complete -Friendly and helpful staff -Modern property that has a playful, delightful feel -The pictures online look EXACTLY like the hotel itself -Clean, spacious rooms -Sticky Fingers (the cafe in the lobby that has delicious desserts and great coffee/teas) Additional pro-tips: -Free happy hour at the adjacent Moer restaurant from 6-7p for hotel guests -Discounted guest passes to the fancy David Lloyd gym next door (which has a sauna/steam room and pool) -Bike rentals (€15 per day) From what I researched in the Vondelpark area, The Tire Station (or its nearby sister hotel, Conscious Hotel Vondelpark) is the best options in terms of convenience, quality and price. Thank you so much for a truly fantastic stay, Tire Station. I would gladly stay again anytime!

Yelp
Room and service was good, but my airpods sat in my room for 3 weeks before getting taken off the property. Called multiple times to have them retrieved and eventually got hung up on. Keep your stuff close.

Yelp
A group of my friends and I booked to stay with the tire station during spring break. We are graduate students studying health care and decided to deviate to Amsterdam after volunteering for 2 weeks providing healthcare services to children with disabilities in Africa. We were excited to rest and relax after our philanthropy mission in Ghana, West Africa and booked the "Conscious" Hotel because we really resonated with their mission and wanted to invest our money in a place that had moral values. Unfortunately, we were VERY wrong to choose this hotel. Our trip was cancelled by our university due to the coronavirus outbreak and EVERY single accommodation and airline took pity on our situation and reimbursed us. My friend called the front desk several times and was met with rude employees and a lack of understanding despite providing them with documentation stating our trip was forcibly cancelled. I am SO disappointed in this hotel and their customer service. So much for being conscious and considerate. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

Yelp
A group of me and my classmates had a layover in Amsterdam, where we planned to deviate for a few days after completing a university organized, humanitarian trip to Ghana, Africa. We booked our stay at The Conscious Hotel and were very excited because we loved their vibe and overall mission. Unfortunately, our trip was cancelled by our university due to the global health crisis caused by the spread of coronavirus. We had no control over this situation and our university forbade us from traveling internationally until further notice. All of our airlines and other accommodations provided us a full refund, as they understood the complexity of the evolving global crisis. The Conscious Hotel, however, was not accommodating whatsoever and refused to offer my group a refund, despite having written documentation that our trip was forcibly cancelled. The employees were rude, inconsiderate, and refused to compromise. It is so disappointing that this hotel would rather profit off of us and make a couple hundred of dollars than do the right thing. Would not recommend this hotel!!!

Yelp
This hotel is looking to make a profit and does not care about their customers whatsoever. I originally booked this hotel due to their look and mission behind the hotels. I was supposed to stay here with a group of friends in March after completing a medical internship, however due to the global health crisis due to Coronavirus, my university cancelled my trip. Every single one of the other hotels, airlines and reservations that we had made were beyond accommodating and instantly reimbursed me-- no questions asked. I have called the Conscious Hotel three times to plead for a refund, as this cancellation is affecting people worldwide. We are all students, with limited funds as it is. I was met with rude, unaccommodating staff who simply were unwilling to help a group of students. Never, in all the years of my travel have I had a situation like this. Truly, truly disappointed.
