An absolute gem and a must go to!! We ordered 2 Carne Asada burritos without rice and it was packed with meat beans and cheese. The green and red salsas were delicious and had the right heat. The tortilla had an almost smokiness to it. This is my new stop whenever heading into or from the desert but they are closed on Sundays! Great pricing and the staff were fantastic. The restroom was spotlessly clean!! It is takeout only.

Great chile verde burrito. Had awesome heat and large chunks of pork. Salsa and guacamole was delicious. No seating but worth eating in the car if you are on a road trip. Order ahead, 30-45 minute wait if you walk in during lunch.

Haven't been here for years and was in the area so I decided to get a chili Verde burrito. It's still one of the best chili Verde burrito I've had. I asked for the beans on the side and was told that it would be an extra charge. 🥴 I loved the shrimp fajita burrito too, but it's no longer on the menu. 🥲 Overall I'm glad this establishment is still going strong!

Consuelo’s Home Style Mexican Restaurant is truly something special. During Covid, they didn’t just survive, they thrived by pivoting to pickup-only and continuing business as usual, and I’ve been grateful ever since. They make the best beans I’ve ever had, and that includes any homemade beans I grew up eating at my grandmother’s house. The Chile Verde combo burritos are incredible, and the Chile Colorado is just as good. The tamales taste exactly like grandma made them, comforting, authentic, and full of flavor. I’ve never had a bad meal here. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve had everything on the menu, which makes it surprising that I’m only now writing this review. Every single order has been consistently excellent. What really sets Consuelo’s apart, though, is the people. They know our orders. They know our kids. They’ve watched them grow up over the years, and that kind of personal connection makes every pickup feel like more than just a transaction, it feels like family. Absolutely love this place and their service. A true neighborhood gem that never disappoints. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

One of the best Mexican food restaurants I have eaten. We had quesadilla with shredded beef, chimichanga with Carnitas and also shredded beef and carne Asada plate all the best. Prices are on point too. Ohh and the best chunky salsa ) thank you!

It's good overall we've been going here for over 15 years. The only thing that's unfortunate is they just close the sitting area and have no bathroom. The food is great but I gave it a three stars on atmosphere just because I wish there was at least an outdoors bathroom maybe with a passcode or key. And maybe an outdoor sitting area. But overall it was good

Everything was fine. The people were quite nice. The food was fine, not great, not bad. Time to get food was a little long. Chile verde was OK. I've had better. Chicken was OK, I've had considerably better. The carne asada was a tiny bit over salted. The beans were quite good. The rice was OK. Some reviews sang the praises of this place. Don't go to Consuelos if you are expecting great food, you'll be disapointed. If you're looking to be fed and not disappointed, you'll be satisfied.

Okay here it is The review that you want what I'm driving and I happen to be in banning I do drive a lot but when I'm going east my truck automatically starts to exit and I have to go to this place and I usually buy four burritos I get the chile verde burritos I get chile verde only with cheese these things are amazing and yes they are hot as fire they are so hot most people can't handle them but they are so good The meat is so tender I don't know how they do it and the sauce is just absolutely amazing My wife and I are really into this place and like I say when I swing by I grab four burritos I eat one immediately and then I'll have another one for lunch then I'll have two more that I can bring home lol

I may regret posting this, but its too good not to rave about it. I can't remember how we found out about this location, but when i tell you I craaaaave this burrito. AND willing to drive the 45 mins there and back for it, it should tell you how truly good it is. You CAN and SHOULD place a phone order; but you can order in person, and online with one of those platforms. There WILL be a wait of at least 30 mins plus. When they warn you that the chile is HOT today.. believe them. We get one thing and one thing only; the chile verde burrito with beans and cheese. Parking is limited, but people are constantly coming and going because it is a strictly pick up location. Once you walk in there will be people seated along the walls waiting for their food. If you placed a phone order, you walk to the counter and check in. They will pull your order from the chest of goodness and have you on your way. When i tell you.. this is one of the BEST chile verde burritos I've had in my life. I am not exaggerating.

I was referred to this place by a resident in Banning, and I am a huge advocate for the small business and not the big chain businesses. I ordered the asada burrito, and the sign posted read: "please allow 15-20 minutes for your food to be ready." It took that period of time. When I got to my car and since I was hungry, I dug in. The burrito was warm, not hot at all, I don't want to judge, that burrito was not just made. That burrito should have been so hot, it would've burned my mouth. The taste was ok, no WOW here. In conclusion, for a $14 burrito and 20 minute wait, I was expecting a lot more. But hey, I still advocate for small business and I hope this helps them adjust.

After all these years I still can't believe I haven't left a review for Consuelos I've been going to this restaurant for at least 20 years, when I first moved to Banning. Unfortunately for me I no longer live in the area but when I go home to visit family this is the first place I end up at. Everybody raves about their chile verde burrito. They're chile verde is absolutely delicious and the best I have ever had anywhere. Believe me I grew up in Los Angeles and I've had some really good chile verde everywhere but nothing as good as Consuelos. What I don't like is there flour tortillas. I have never been a fan of their tortillas. I usually end up ordering a tray of Chile Verde and head to my sister's house so we can all eat. We have ordered food for baby showers, for birthdays, for everyday meals. Don't be scared of this unassuming hole in the wall restaurant. Inside those Mamahs are making some of the best food you will ever taste.

Grabbed the Wednesday enchilada special. Although there is no place to sit, worth the food! Reasonable prices and friendly staff. :)

Best Mexican food in town! You can never go wrong with any of their burritos they always hit the spot. Personal favorite the chile verde burrito. They have a special on it to every Friday! Good service great food taste like home in a way.

food is not good is really salty the people who works right there have a shitty attitude order my food saying it will be ready in 25 minutes get there after 25 minutes the food wasn't ready I wait another 15 minutes will not come back

Food- I would like to preface by saying that I won't include a picture because the photo does not do it justice in terms of the flavor profile by just looking at it. The item in question is the , "CHILE VERDE BURRITOS". While just looking at it, its just a typical looking burrito. Not too small, not too big, but when you take that first bite, you get flavor town! The chunks of nicely spiced pork and chile slowly melts away in your mouth. The perfect kick from the chile causes a happy twinge between those chipmunk cheeks of mind and leads to the next bite and the next bite. That's all I need in a perfect chomp. Cleanliness- very clean and sterile like a hospital operating room. Serice- Eggcelent - courteous and friendly! They may say 15 to 20 minutes for orders, but I usually get it in half the time or less. If you wanted quicker, order ahead, that's the best way. Parking - plenty

Very good. Flour tortillas were pleasantly tender and chewy. But the show stopper was the chile verde. I was lucky enough to stop in on a chart-topping day (as with all real food, ingredients can vary in potency. So they have a sign up to inform customers how spicy the chile verde is that day.) and I had a fantastically spicy chile verde, just like God intended. I am excited to go back.

Great Chili Verde burrito! It's a takeout restaurant and there's always customers. Definitely give it a try if you're passing through Banning. Opens early and closed at 5pm.

Excellent service and superior food quality. Old fashioned taco take out location. The ambience is old school. Plus it is so sparkling clean. It is always super clean. It is family owned and operated by lovely people. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. I just wished they had a dining room so I could go with my friends. But their is a park near by.

Consuelo's seems to definitely be a local favorite. The aggregate Yelp reviews seem to validate this. Me and my plus one went out to Cabazon for Orange County. We stopped here for lunch before heading into Cabazon. Consuelo's is truly a hole in the wall. It's essentially take out only. There's a big gravel parking lot right next door. A lot of cars and people were loitering as well as eating in their car, or tailgating. When you arrive, it's clear this place is in high demand. The restaurant itself is basically a room with an attached kitchen in the back. Just a few chairs. You wait in a long line to the counter. Once you order, then you wait for a long time. We waited for about 30-40 minutes in the waiting room. It was crowded so there were no seats. People waiting weren't too considerate... For example, some of the chairs were occupied by young people who never offered some seriously old seniors to take their seat. My girl and I got 4 tacos, some fries and drink. On the tacos, we got one of each meat: asada, pork, chicken and al pastor. Fries were damn good. And the tacos were large and damn good too. We ate in the car. We had leftovers that we took home. While the food is good, given hour of waiting in line and then getting the food... It's just not a place I'd return to. If you try it and absolutely love it, let me know. It was worth all the hype. I havent tried the carne asada its kinda pricey but the chili verde is the best ive ever had. Spice level is posted on tje wall and changes through out the day. Tje fries are crispy salty and hot perfect

I'm probably going to sound like every other person here. Heading to AZ wanted to grab a breakfast burrito a good one. Sign states 15-20 min wait time but worth it!!! It was love at first bite!!! Chili verde was on point. Spicy not for the weak. I'm bookmarking this gem!!! Hubby ordered the Machaca & egg, he should have asked for salsa it would have made it better. I suppose they too could have offered but u nvr know if people actually eat or toss it. Ask for salsa. I like that it has a Simple menu. Lots of to go orders. It was delicious Thank you!

If you're looking for a true hole in the wall place that has great food, this is your place. Be warned, this is strictly a to-go place. The menu is simple, which I think makes it so good. We were traveling to Palm Springs, so we ended up eating in the car, so I don't have a pic of the burrito. We got a carne asada burrito and red chile beef with beans, rice and cheese. Juicy and flavorful and the portion size was more than enough. Don't forget to get some hot sauce. The red sauce had great smoky flavor and the green was good and had your heat. Use both. I have this place on my list when I am in the area. Look for the small white house

Been coming to this place for years and it has always been a treat, but we ordered the combo today and I bit into the chili verde burrito and ate a big chunk of pork fat. Never in my years coming here would I have been so turned off. Today was a complete bust in was one of my favorites places to stop when traveling through. Thank you Consuelos for the years but I think it's a bitter farewell.

DELICIOUS!!! The Chile verde was listed just below "OUCH", my tongue was still numb from having surgery a couple days before, so it didn't taste too spicy when I tested it before ordering my burrito. WELL, several bites in, my nose opened up like a faucet, sweat pouring from every pore in my face. Yet, I STILL can't wait to come back!! Reminds me of my late tía's chili verde, that I love and miss. I SOOO appreciate that they have the chile verde thermometer on the wall, I guess I just wanted it "regardless", and a numb tongue helped Service was friendly and helpful, especially the sample of the chile verde. Maybe plenty more menus would be helpful, having only one on the counter, isn't helpful to those in line trying to decide what they want. No menu on the walls, menu online is outdated (prices).

Pretty excellent homemade food and salsas. I walked in and the wait was about a half hour (just some seats for waiting, no indoor dining area). I ate in my car and had two shredded beef tacos. I felt the beef lacked a little flavor but was very fresh and the crunchy shell and toppings were good. I think I was more expecting a place to sit and eat! It looks like you can also order ahead so that's probably your best bet. As for prices, two tacos, chips salsa, a side tortilla, and a drink were 20 bucks. So not bad, not super cheap. Either way - worth a stop if you're passing by or in the area because it's definitely homemade.

Chile Verde breakfast burrito is excellent. If you don't like spicy foods, don't get the chile Verde because they won't compromise their cooking to make it any less spicier.

This place is still on the top of the list of great places to eat in all the riverside county I've been eating here since I was a kid and there still King of Mexican food.

So I was working close to this hidden Gem and a lot of my workers would stop here from time to time to pick up chili verde burritos. I must say this place has the best chili verde burrito I have ever had. It's very simple, it's beans, rice, cheese, and chili verde. I'm not a fan of beans so I usually get it without the beans. The awesome thing about this burrito is that the heat intensity changes on the daily. There is a chart they have indoors that lets you know how spicy their chili verde is that day. I stopped by here on the way home from one of my projects thinking I could just walk in and get my burrito. The lady at the front told me it would be a 45 min wait. And you know what, I wanted one so bad I said ok, that's fine. It's well worth the wait. The inside is clean. This place deserves all the business it gets. Anytime I pass this place, I will be stopping by for a chili verde burrito.

It's a tiny take out place, but the chile verde is out of this world! Like astronomical... it's tender, flavorful and the day I went it was spicy too. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it spicy but be prepared to suck on an ice cube between bites. Lol They close early so phone your order ahead of time if you want to use a credit or debit card. If you want to pay cash then you can't call ahead (maybe they got burned before). We will definitely be back.

No frills and walk-in only. You can smell their delicious cooking from the parking lot. Their chile verde is EXCELLENT and the spice levels can differ daily. We got our takeout and headed to a nearby park. We could have split one order for two people, the chile verde plate was so plentiful!

Great juicy carne asada tacos. Make it lean and tender goodness. Dont forget their red sauce too.

The food was great, genuine. The location a bit off the beaten track. We took guests from Europe who wanted to try homemade Mexican. This place delivered. Not in the least a ritzy place - there is literally a waiting room for the pickup orders and that's it. Some people we talked to drove 1hour+ to get this food. Many were Mexican blue collar workers out for a lunch break. Ain't that a great seal of approval?

You can't beat the food quality and the authentic taste. Service is excellent ambience is more of a get it and go situation... If you're in the area, you must stop in.

Fresh ingredients, friendly service, and nearly perfect for takeout. Call ahead as it's busy. The style of tortilla isn't my favorite, but the salsas were quite good (more salsa is needed than the two little cups provided). It's nondescript & just off the freeway.

The Chili Verde here is some kind of amazing! Looking for something good to eat after a day of shopping in Cabazon, Yelp brought me to Consuelo's and it did not fail me. I made it in before about 45 minutes before they closed and they close early so if you want to pick up some food for dinner you better get in gear. As soon as I walked in, it kind of looked like a doctor's office with a bunch of people sitting against the wall, waiting for their food like you do when you wait for you primary care doctor to call for you to come in and get weighed. But seeing locals there waiting let me know that I was probably at a good spot. What should I get? The girl up front told me I should go with the chili verde if I could handle a little kick. She even went back to the kitchen and grabbed me a sample before I could say anything. Soft pork, slow cooked in very light green gravy. The chili verde sauce was bursting with so much flavor and a nice slow but strong kick. The sauce is not thick and heavy, but it's really, really full of broken down, slow simmered chilies and tomatillos. I ended up with the combo burrito with beans, rice and cheese inside. It was mind altering. The chili verde itself is a little soupy with all the sauce but with the rice and beans there it soaked up the base. They are generous with the meat and their spicy red and green salsas were both very good. I ordered a side of guacamole and that is not a must have. Their guacamole is the premade thick sauce kind, it's very smooth with no lumps or avocado pieces. There are no seats and there's nowhere to eat and Consuelo's. You can either eat in your car in the parking lot or take it home. Everyone that works there is helpful and friendly. After you order, you'll probably have to wait 10-15 minutes to get your food. Next time I want to try a taco or the chimichanga, but I dream about the chili verde so I will probably end up with that in some form. It's good, really good.

Stopped here for some burritos on the way back to AZ . WOW! Legit some of the best burritos we've ever had and we are from Tucson! Be aware there is no seating but we just took our food to a local park and ate! Lovely friendly ladies were super helpful with ordering and we are still dreaming of our delicious meal!

Introduced by a patient who brought me lunch, I was hooked at first bite. I must admit we have only ordered the chili verde burrito but is is amazing. Did enjoy before COVID when they had indoor seating, however still worth the drive from Riverside even just to eat in the car.

The chili Verde is awesome , very few places around that have that spicy authenticity like Grampa or Grandma used to make. A1 in my book. Sorry Burrito doesn't last long enough to take a picture

They have the best burritos. Whenever we are in the area we try to stop in for lunch. They no longer have tables to eat there, you need to take it to go. Definitely worth the 40 minute wait.

Simply the best chili verde burrito around. I drive from the OC to the inland empire to get my hands on this burrito so yummy and full over flavor. The service great but it's not fast food so try to place your order over the phone. Keep in mind there is no where to sit. It's pick up and go.

There's an older mama, that you can tell runs the ship. I didn't catch her name but she's so nice and wholesome. Makes you feel like family when you're there. That and the food itself righteously deserve 5 stars. That chili verde burrito - off the hook. In fact the first time I ever went, she asked if I even tried their chili verde, to which I said no. Even though I already ordered, she proceeded to give me a sample which I joked was too spicy for my taste, when in fact it was so damn good. We had a good laugh and I've been a customer ever since. Now, recommendations from a customer to a business - either make a website to order from (w tap payments) or just take the damn order, and process payment before food is given. I'd imagine a lot of people are ordering as they're driving there (like myself). The snooty chick w the fancy eyelashes and eyeliner setup really kills the vibe. If you're having to say "you're paying with credit card?" every time you preface a phone order, then damn - the system is slightly bugged - no? While waiting for my order, I've seen pissed off customers bc of this. I understand this probably came about bc of no-shows. However! Your restaurant is known for that chili verde burrito. So who cares if it's a no show? It can be given to the next order. 5 or 30 minutes difference in the time a burrito was prepped really makes no difference. If anything it'll probably taste better after sitting for 30m. So, fancy eyelashes quit being so snarky and acting like it's a privilege for us that you're there - bc it isn't. The privilege lies with the nice lady that is more than helpful to all, presumably your mother, or abuela.

The food is great , but today I ordered on Door dash and it took ONE hour People that ordered there in person all got their food before me . I sat and waited to get my food . After getting my food we started driving We have an over an hour drive home My husband is driving so I can eat . And I ordered myself a tortilla soup . Well there is NO spoon in the bag So it makes it difficult to eat By the time you e get home the soup will be cold : I'm just sad and hungry

Chile verde was delicious but super spicy I could not finish it. I kept taking bites until my lips were burning lol. It is worth it!

The green chili chimichanga has been one of the best green chill's I've ever had every time I go there that is what I order. I order pick up due to working 10 minutes away. They're always fast and polite. The ambiance is clean.

The potatoes need a little change, maybe a got the end of a batch but they were like potato chips. The chorizo and eggs were good and the salsa Delicious. Might try again. They only have take out for now. Service and employees were Awesome!!
