Located conveniently across the street from the train station, for easy access to the lakeside stores and cafes, and the Lugano shopping area. The hotel is charming with well appointed modern rooms, while reserving the old world charm of decades before. Water pressure in the showers was excellent which we much appreciated! The grounds are very beautiful and well maintained. There is a beautiful bar and resident on site which I wish we had time to visit!

A total 5 star experience BUT NOTE this gorgeous hotel with amazing views sits directly above a small but busy train station with both commuter and cargo trains alllll day and night. With that said it did NOT detract from our stay (maybe just a little from napping with the doors open... ). With the doors closed it was very quiet and trains were not an issue (an inner garden room might not be affected by trains). We had room 70 and it was such a glorious view. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant was AMAZING! The waitstaff were so friendly and helpful. Service was exceptional. Breakfast was outstanding. Also note as the hotel sits above town, you could do a steep multi stair down and up but recommend the funicular which is right in the train station below. As a little crowded and hectic as town can be this hotel is a beautiful and peaceful oasis. The grounds are gorgeous and the whole experience was wonderful. This part of the trip was my favorite because of the Continental Parkhotel experience!

A very beautiful, older hotel, exquisitely furnished and only a five minute walk to the train station. I stayed in the “annex” for two nights and in the main building for one. Annex rooms were very plain and simply, but clean. My room in the main building was bigger, more nicely decorated and updated. I had personal and uncertain situation that I never knew whether I needed my room for another night, yet the kind women at reception were very understanding, kind, and accommodating and worked with me each day to help me. Excellent breakfast.

The property is a stunning, park-like retreat, complete with artful sculptures, cozy green nooks perfect for unwinding, an outdoor pool, a vineyard, climbing roses, and serene views of the lake.||The building is a beautifully preserved 19th-century grand hotel, featuring chandeliers, wide ornate staircases, a charming music salon, and a variety of inviting indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, socialize, admire the views, and enjoy the lush surroundings. Our room had a balcony with breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains.||Breakfast included a delicious European spread served in a bright, airy dining room overlooking the gardens and lake. It featured freshly baked butter croissants, seasonal fruits and vegetables, eggs, pastries, and an abundant selection of cheeses and cured meats. Dinner at the on-site grotto-style restaurant was equally enjoyable, with the option to dine al fresco in the garden adding to the experience. Happy Hour is a treat! The barman is exceptionally knowledgeable, warm, and engaging. The hotel produces its own wine and grappa, both of which are well worth sampling.||The location is ideal—just a short walk from the train station, and within walking distance to center of Lugano, making it a convenient base for exploring Lugano and the Ticino region. It’s also near the Lugano boat terminal, perfect for scenic cruises on the lake.||The area is very pedestrian-friendly. We enjoyed walking not only to Lugano’s old town but even all the way to picturesque Gandria. For an easier route to the old town, a nearby funicular provides an alternative to the stairs.||Though the train tracks are nearby, we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was. Swiss trains are remarkably silent and infrequent at night, which allowed us to sleep peacefully with the balcony doors open.||The hotel offers excellent value for money; the experience far exceeds what the moderate pricing might suggest.

This is a superb hotel- a lovely old building with an excellent swimming pool set in beautiful gardens. It is well located very close to the railway station, but there was no intrusive noise at night. Breakfasts were superb. I'd have given 5 stars if the restaurant staff had been a little more inclined to serve desserts and coffees, but on 2 occasions we simply gave up waiting.

I was here for business and stayed for two nights and I got to say: the surrounding, the greenery and the ambiente is amazing. Especially in summer times. The pool seems amazing. It is less than 3 minutes from the Lugano main station. The service at breakfast, reception and the bar is impeccable. Totally worth a stay and would come again, if I am in Lugano. The only downside I had was the proximity to the main station, as I was able to hear the train in the night, even with the windows closed.

The location of the hotel is great, being just a few minutes walk from the station. The entrance next to the railway tracks is the main entrance to the hotel, and the main door of the hotel is up the flight of stairs. It was a bit unassuming at first and I had thought I arrived at the back entrance. The hotel's theme and decor is very grand and classy, fitting for its long history. The buffet breakfast is great with lots of hot food (so much meat!), and the staff makes you a cup of coffee to start with. The bar in the hotel is also a great option, with happy hour between 17:00-18:00 during which drinks are almost half priced. In addition I was served some free snacks to go with my beer so I was happy to order a few more. A great place to relax after a tiring day out. The rooms are comfy but a bit bare. For one there is no kettle in the room, which I had thought was almost a standard item in any hotel room by now. There is shower gel provided but they come in these weird, flat, single use packets. Lastly there are no blackout blinds, only a translucent lace layer. Leaving the issue of sunlight interrupting your sleep aside, it seems to provide not much privacy especially as there are other occupied buildings in sight. There is a balcony with a chair attached to my room, I imagine if you are a smoker you can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while you relax. There are modern air conditioners in the room which are also capable of heating as well as cooling.

Had a ground floor room on the outdoor pavilion. With the windows closed, you can hear the trains all day and night, as well as your neighbors from the adjacent rooms moving their furniture (why at 6:00 AM???) and tending to their crying babies. The room itself was simple and dated, relatively clean. To lock the door you had to jimmy the handle. I have to say it didn't feel very secure. Another thing is that to get to the city you have to go through the train station, which at night might not be very plesent. The receptionists were very nice and helpfull.

Yelp
Charming hotel sitting on the hillside above Lago di Lugano a few minutes walk from the main Lugano train station and a short Funiculare ride down to the lake front. The perfect setting to our romantic weekend getaway. My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend in Lugano a couple of weeks ago at the Continental Parkhotel. We decided on going down there last minute (literally one day before) during the popular tourist season so did not have too many nice hotels to choose from as most of them are booked out. My main criteria was that the hotel has a nice swimming pool, air conditioning in all the rooms and free wifi. As luck would have it, this hotel fits the bill and there was ONE room left. We were very excited and booked it straight away. At checked in, our reserved standard room type was not available. The reception agent promptly upgraded us to a superior room in the main building with a huge terrace and a beautiful view (at no extra charge). You always expect the photos on the web to look better than the real thing but this hotel looked even better in person. Built 120 years ago, the hotel is both old fashioned and updated. There's been many renovations done over the years but a lot of the original details were carefully preserved throughout the property to reflect it's former splendor. There's a palm tree garden with little stone path that leads up to a charming Grotto with long tables and benches where the hotel host BBQ's during the summer weekends. Since the property sits on the hill, the swimming pool, sun deck, and even a vineyard are all set on different levels in perfectly complimentary layouts. The hotel offers a feast-like buffet breakfast (included in the room rate). The wait staff brings you individual pots of coffee with heated frothy milk on the side. The croissants are freshly made and smells wonderful. The best part is the sunny bright dining room with a view of the mountains. The hotel is very family friendly. It seems like people go there generation after generation. The guests and wait staff greet each other like old friends....something you don't see in big major worldwide hotel chains. The concierge was friendly and helpful. They provided a lot of assistance to us over the weekend from restaurant recommendations, the best way to get from here to there, making a late night reservation at their restaurant after closing time, to supplying insect bite lotion and insect repellent spray late at night when I had no way of obtaining them from anywhere else. There's a big first aid box behind the front desk with just about everything you might need and not able to get when you need them. I was so grateful for the Fenipic gel which spared me a lot of grief after getting a string of mosquito bites on my leg walking back up from the lake late in the evening. Everything about our experience at this hotel was pleasant and positive. I would definitely stay there if I'm ever in Lugano again. Maybe even with my family from the US next time.
