The property is a stunning, park-like retreat, complete with artful sculptures, cozy green nooks perfect for unwinding, an outdoor pool, a vineyard, climbing roses, and serene views of the lake.||The building is a beautifully preserved 19th-century grand hotel, featuring chandeliers, wide ornate staircases, a charming music salon, and a variety of inviting indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, socialize, admire the views, and enjoy the lush surroundings. Our room had a balcony with breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains.||Breakfast included a delicious European spread served in a bright, airy dining room overlooking the gardens and lake. It featured freshly baked butter croissants, seasonal fruits and vegetables, eggs, pastries, and an abundant selection of cheeses and cured meats. Dinner at the on-site grotto-style restaurant was equally enjoyable, with the option to dine al fresco in the garden adding to the experience. Happy Hour is a treat! The barman is exceptionally knowledgeable, warm, and engaging. The hotel produces its own wine and grappa, both of which are well worth sampling.||The location is ideal—just a short walk from the train station, and within walking distance to center of Lugano, making it a convenient base for exploring Lugano and the Ticino region. It’s also near the Lugano boat terminal, perfect for scenic cruises on the lake.||The area is very pedestrian-friendly. We enjoyed walking not only to Lugano’s old town but even all the way to picturesque Gandria. For an easier route to the old town, a nearby funicular provides an alternative to the stairs.||Though the train tracks are nearby, we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was. Swiss trains are remarkably silent and infrequent at night, which allowed us to sleep peacefully with the balcony doors open.||The hotel offers excellent value for money; the experience far exceeds what the moderate pricing might suggest.
