We’ve been going to Continental Treat Fine Bistro for a while now and it’s always a great experience. My girlfriend is gluten free so it’s perfect that she can have anything on the menu. The schnitzel is our usual favorite but this time we tried the Hungarian goulash and chicken supreme and both were amazing. Also love that they now sell frozen perogies to take home. So good!

Delicious gluten free food, excellent service, and nice vibe. Very large restaurant but would still recommend making a reservation. I absolutely love the dill pickle soup.

Can't wait to go back and try something else on their menu. I had the pork schnitzel and the entire meal was delicious. Impeccably prepared and great care taken in the plating. The pork was tender, mash potatoes were lovely and rustic. Veg were fabulous, perfectly cooked and seasoned, my taste buds were happy dancing! Mushroom sauce was a delightful add-on. My server was welcoming and accommodating. Atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. Bravo Continental Treat!

Found this gem on my recent stay in Edmonton. Being gluten-intolerant, I was ecstatic to find this dedicated GF European restaurant. The menu was full of appetizing European food choices, and my server was very friendly! I went with the classic dill pickle soup and cheese/potato/bacon perogies. I was not disappointed! Even the homemade GG bun that went with the soup was well-crafted. Everything had rich, delicious flavour and the wine pairing (German Riesling) that my server suggested complimented both dishes. Great location, and dark moody decor that worked with the style they were going for. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Edmonton.

Love love love this place. As a celiac i feel safe to dine in and have so much freedom to explore the food. Definitely always recommend. My number 1 place to celebrate birthdays or other celebrations!!!!

Had a family lunch last year downtown. The food was really good lots of choices, the atmosphere was lovely. Very Christmasy and inviting. Interesting drink menu. Went this year to roper road location and were very disappointed. It looked a cheap cafe from the 70s. The food selection limited, overpriced and small quantities. The atmosphere was not enjoyable and despite the fact that there were only another 2 tables there the service was not great. We enjoy the gluten free menu but we will be looking for another option next year

Google
Gluten Free for all menu items! New location is a bit harder to get to, but totally worth it. The food is incredible and the service is top tier, really friendly staff and great food. New location is pretty visibly rough (water stained walls aand ceilings) but no impact on the restaurant itself :)!

I visited here very randomly on my way back from a walk to the Muttart. I pass it every day but have never gone in and I didn't think the style of food would appeal to me. This place blew my expectations away. I had the dill soup and schnitzel and my friend had a Reuben. We also shared a black forest cake. Everything was fantastic and well-balanced. Also the potato salad! The service was really good too and I enjoyed talking with the server. He was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. Lastly, I liked the theme of the bathroom. (No spoilers) Already looking forward to going there again.

Yelp
We decided on Continental after seeing the restaurant featured in a youtube video. As someone with Polish and Eastern European decent, I love finding gems that feature my ancestral cuisine. I want to buy the red cabbage in bulk!!! The warming spices gave the cabbage great flavour, especially on a cold, late-autumn day. The dill pickle soup is famous for a reason: YUM! Thanks for a tasty Thanksgiving (US) meal :)

Yelp
Don't usually have anything to say about wait staff, but Keshia was the exception. It was more like being served by a family member with an atmosphere of warmth. Having said that, we don't go to restaurants a lot due to budget restraints, but here we are at the Continental Treat. We were attracted by the Quartet entertainment that night which was excellent. The dishes were 5 out of 5 which Keshia helped us to select and a big thanks for the Sauerkraut sample soups.

Yelp
Came here for an event and the dinner and wine was lovely. I keep meaning to come back and try their famous dill pickle soup and this review has reminded me that I must go!

Yelp
If you are looking for delicious European food in a lovely atmosphere, this restaurant can really fit the bill. Not only is the food really great but it is all gluten-free which is perfect if you know anyone who is a Celiac or who has a gluten intolerance. Regardless the food is great -- I really like the rouladen among other dishes here. The dill pickle soup is lovely as well. The bread is great especially given the gluten-free nature of this place. The building itself is great (the downtown space has hosted other restaurants in the past) but the food is really the highlight. And the staff go above and beyond to recognize stuff happening for your group if you let them know when you reserve. I thought this was lovely. Yes service can be occasionally slow (which happens with many restaurants of this caliber) but honestly sometimes it feels good to take time for a good meal.

Yelp
First off I have to say is I COULD DRINK THE DILL SAUCE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOAT, I want to bath in it, that's how delicious this sauce is. Oh my goodness, the most divine and succulent chefs kiss for that! Anyways I have loved my meal every time I've gone here, the perogies, borscht, chicken schnitzel and the coffees are out of this world amazing. I'm blown away how everything is gluten free, that is astonishing. I love this restaurant

Yelp
Visited on New Year's Eve. The Strathcona String Quartet was the highlight of the evening!! We had to leave early due to a family emergency. We were hoping to do some dancing. All the appetizers and wines were great! Food and service is always great! Would like to know if and when the Strathcona String Quartet will return!

Yelp
Again, another amazing meal at Continental Treat Fine Bistro. Beautiful and intimate atmosphere. Service was impecable. I hope that this place is full at lunchtime with the downtown crowd. I always start with a cup of dill pickle soup. This time I went with the special of the day which was a fish stew. It was excellent. Everything is good here. Of all the years that I have been to the Whyte Ave location (20 years) and now this new location, I have not been served a bad dish.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! The atmosphere is classy, the entrees were delicious, and the dessert (the bownie) was worth coming back for by itself! They were also very accommodating to food intolerances. Thanks Continental- we'll be back!

Yelp
I've known about this place forever, but never really wanted to go because of the fact that I am vegetarian, and my partner is vegan. I was excited to discover the vegan and vegetarian options and I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful they all tasted. There were two vegan on tree options and mini salads and mini soups. The atmosphere is very nice and romantic. I want to go back around Christmas time and enjoy a their vegan cabbage rolls, and dill pickle soup!!

Yelp
I was at the convention center for the ndp leadership debate and found there was no food available at all. But this place was in the area, so I came here for lunch. I just wanted a quick soup and sandwich. So I ordered ruben and a dill pickle soup. No I recently learned that by the book rubens are made with Russian dressing and not mustard. The continental uses mustard, and I like mustard So I was not gonna start an argument, but .... Anyway the soup and saneldwich come and both are good. What was a surprise, because I had not read the menu closely was the sandwich also came with some pickled carrots and potato salad. So now I am in a bit of a hurry, trying to get back to the convention center and dealing with an enormous 2 plate lunch, and all of it good. I had to leave some behind. Soup and sandwich lunch special all that was needed. Put a small bowl of soup on a plate cut sandwich in half, and on the plate with the soup bowl. It's a classic combo cause it works. Anyways nice place with a friendly server

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere. Superb service. Chic and modern space previously occupied by the hardware grill. Tasty European food. The pickle soup and snitizel are my go to's everytime. The food transports u to eastern Europe bc it's so delicious! Elegantly served. This place is another level above the original location because I personally enjoy this atmosphere than the old European vibe the original Whyte avenue location has. They even kept the chefs table! I started off with the famous pickle soup. It was sour and delicious. It definitely hits the spot for a sour craving! It is unique to this restaurant and I would say it's a specialty that most restaurants don't offer. So don't miss out on this! Next I had the tender pork snitzel with potato salad and veggies with a side order of spaetzele. These were my favourite dishes in the original location and it was just as delicious...if not better! The pickled cabbage, cucumber salad and pickled carrots remind me those pickle bars I miss so much in Germany! I always got my fix at this locally owned restaurant. But now it's closer to home. This place newly opened in December 2021. And I'm loving the vibes and location in downtown! It is perfect for a fancy date, girls night out or a office luncheon! I'm impressed and hope to come back soon!

Yelp
This is an update to my review. I was contacted within 12 hours of posting, by the owner, Sylvester. He said our experience was unacceptable and that he was having an emergency meeting w the staff. Additionally, he said his family takes the business v personally - his mother has cooked at the Whyte location for 40 years! And she would be v upset. When a family owns a restaurant and takes such pride in it, you just gotta support them! We r having a "do-over" dinner and I'm sure it will be fabulous

Yelp
Wonderful location with an all gluten free menu. Comfortable atmosphere and moat of the night was great, but I will remove a single star because the bathroom obviously had not been inspected by staff (all stalls were dirty) in a while (I work in customer service so I know it can get busy but bathrooms and kitchens are very important to keep clean in a restaurant).

Yelp
More than just the very delicious food, are the most gracious and accommodating servers and the luxurious yet comfortable dining atmosphere! In every way, Continental Treat Fine Bistro is AMAZING!

Yelp
First time here. Order dill pickle soup and beet salad as apps - both were very good, I will say the arugula in the salad was a bit over salted, main courses were goulash, stroganoff and chicken schnitzel. All were good, spatzel was over cooked but tasty . Over all good food but fire alarms and fire trucks were a little annoying.

Yelp
We have been here a few times but tonight our server Thomas was outstanding. He made recommendations , knew his menu and was such a delight. I would highly recommend sitting in his section. The food is awesome and we love it.

Yelp
First, if you would like to try the most delicious Bavarian style food you have ever had...come here. Second, if you have a gluten allergy, there's no problem, this is a certified Gluten Free restaurant. Everything is gluten free. Yes, I know there's some spouses of gluten free people out there and you're taking a pass. You are just cheating yourself out of the most delicious food you've had. On top of that the service is great, the atmosphere great! Don't pass this up as just a gluten free restaurant. You're missing out.

Yelp
An amazing experience. We had the beef rouladen that's thinly slice round roast rolled up. A typical German dish slow braised served with creamy pan gravy. We finished with crème brûlée just as delicious. Really enjoy old school ambiance jazz music, professional service and elegant setting. Very reasonable priced we will be back!! Located in downtown Edmonton close to the Hotel McDonald.

Yelp
The best part about my dinner here was the beets! They were delicious. The maple salmon was acceptable, but what's with the plates? Every time I put down my knife it slid right into the middle of my plate. I think the sides of the plate were too steep? Crazy! My companion had the cabbage roll and said he'd had better for far cheaper. Service was pretentious to say the least.

Yelp
We had a large group that needed a reservation at the last minute, and the management and staff at the restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate us. They were responsive, happy to work with our special requests and made everything incredibly easy. Everyone in the group agreed that the food was incredible, and both the service and ambiance were top-notch. The dill pickle soup alone is worth many repeat visits. Continental Treat never disappoints!

Yelp
impossible Ruben Sandwich, $29.00 times two, for this sandwich which actually turned out to be two pieces of toast, a table spoon of potato salad, and a teaspoon of beats. totally burnt, with an invisible amount of meat. Managment offered a dessert as a let's be nice gesture. A good server would NEVER have brought this to our table, they would have told the kitchen this is NOT a Ruben. they do not care about their customers. SAVE YOUR MONEY GO NEXT DOOR FOR CHINESE.
