Go if you’re white and old, otherwise, prepare to be “poked fun of”ie have people be super rude to you and make racist comments. Left before ordering because the bartender somehow managed to try to pick a fight with me in the 2 minutes I was seated. Didn’t taste the food so I didn’t rate that

Stumbled upon this place visiting from San Diego, CA. This is a very unsuspecting cool lil dive bar. Bill greeted us after I yelled through the window (we were trying to enter through the side door 😂) the drinks were strong and cold. Jody made us a fabulous cheeseburger that hit the spot as I was starving. If you're in New Haven, CT I highly suggest giving this place a visit. Their story and history is super interesting! From prohibition until today! Ask Bill or Jody to give you the scoop. Will definitely make this place a regular stop everytime I'm visiting. Thank you Bill and Jody for the best time!

Burgers are phenomenal. The best in New Haven by far. Old school atmosphere. Not for the weak hearted . Perfect place to chill on a Sunday.

Saw the place and thought it looked so lovely to the point that I cancelled my uber to enjoy a beer at the place, only to be met by the rudest bartender I have ever encountered. HE came up to me asking for my order, while I was canceling my uber, and berated me for using my phone while ordering. I explained myself and he ignored me. I ordered and he kept on making rude comments. In the 5 minutes I was there he also somehow managed to also sneak a racist comment, which I’ve also seen in other reviews. I don’t understand how other reviews are so good, I think this is a different bartender that doesn’t work W/F. Ruined the night. Extremely rude, extremely inappropriate, extremely racist, will never come back here again.

cool place, no one cared about my dog (in fact, ladies were swooning over her) and the bartender was (unfortunately) super nice to me despite the fact I’m european 😔😔 heard people talk about uncle ted, exciting burger was generous, tasty, no seed oils, and prices were fair good vibe

Great bar great banter but expect abuse that's the charm. Best burger in new haven better than Louis lunch. Cash only but has ATM

It's neighborhood dive bar perfection. As with any local dive the atmosphere can vary if you're not familiar with the local crowd. You're inevitably going to get people looking at you/wondering who you are but that doesn't mean they're unfriendly! I'd be scoping out the newbies too in my own spot. I found the service to be just fine and damn -- those burgers were WAY better than I expected. The burgers are WELL worth a stop.

Obsessed with this place. Has become my neighbourhood hangout, and I love the bartender (Bob) who’s on Wednesday and Friday. Iconic man. The place in general is cash only neighbour hood bar vibes and can assuredly be found playing The Game
