Wow, This place is really expensive, and the food is mostly not up to the price point.( I must say that their pizza is pretty good however).
I ordered a meatball grinder with green peppers and onions added, and a Coke.
The price for one sandwich and a drink was $31 including tax and tip.
The "meatballs" in the sandwich were more like low grade meatloaf, and apparently I paid an additional $5 simply for adding green peppers and onions to the grinder to actually give it some flavor. That add on price is not acceptable.
The grinder was edible, but worth no more than $10 maximum. (Not $25).
I ended up throwing the leftover half out in my backyard for the crows to eat, (and they were even not sure if they wanted to eat it at first....).
Restaurant prices are completely out of control, especially at Contos.....
The service was great and the atmosphere is nice, however I would rather have excellent food at a reasonable price, with bad service and bad atmosphere, as I can always get the food to go.....! Their salads are usually good but are also way overpriced.... Once I ordered a caprese salad to go, and when I got home and opened the container It only had three small pieces of wilted lettuce, soaked in balsamic vinegar with no tomatos....! It felt like I was being pranked by the restaurant or on candid canera, and I can't even make that BS up...!!!
That alone should have told me to never go back there again, but now I know for sure that their prices are about three times more than they should be, and the food is not even close to what I can make myself in my own kitchen for around $5 a plate...! Especially any of their pasta dishes.
