I had made a reservation 3 months ago.|When I arrived at the hotel it was completely closed down and nobody at the property. I had not received any notice of the closure. Fortunately I was able to get a room at the Parador de Antequera, which is a very nice place.

We came here for a new years celebration and were really upset to see that the hotel has really gotten worse since the last year. |1. New year’s dinner. The meal was nice but the atmosphere was boring - really cold in the chapel, no music and no entertainment, but the cherry on top was an absolutely disastrous Dj - he did everything he could NOT TO LET people dance when they wanted to by putting awful tracks and sooooo loud. |2. Poor breakfast - no vegetables, no omelettes, we had to take our own food at the breakfast… 5 star hotel as they claim it…|3. Spa zone is a mess. Banks in the sauna are so worn out that it leaves stains on your bikinis and towels… children damaged their feet in a tub because of broken parts in it…|Definitely it was the last time we came here. Such a pity…

From the moment we arrived at 11pm until the morning we left three days later the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Offered a glass of Cava on arrival to welcome us. The barman guided us skilfully through the Restaurant menu to ensure we had an amazing meal. The kind lady who cleaned our room helped us access the room when our key failed and provided extra clean towels. People make the hotel experience.|The building is majestic and peaceful. The spa clean and spacious. This is an oasis and a great place to chill out and unwind in peace, surrounded by stunning scenery. Thank you.

This was such an authentic experience! |The staff is very helpful, friendly and speaks English. We had more service than we wished for. |The location is an old monastery, make sure to read the history info provided and take a tour through the church and crypts. It makes the stay more special! |The rooms are luxuriously big and have their own vegetable garden. The spa is a nice extra tough and was never really busy. |The breakfast is a la carte with very friendly staff and choose of local products. Make sure to take your time to enjoy this first meal of the day. Also, at least go for one night to the restaurant! Very gastronomic choices on the menu! ||Most of all we liked the friendliness of the staff. We really felt like we made friends along the way. What a perfect way to start of our holiday in Spain!|

Lovely hotel “in the middle of nowhere” as one might say as it is located in the old convent building. If not for the road signs I would have turned around thinking I am lost in the mountains… No idea why the hotel is ranked 5*… Rooms are big but have no robes and even when I asked for one at the reception I was told I could not get any as I am not staying in their junior-suite. They do have a spa but it is very small and very outdated. The sauna looked so bad that I had to put a towel in the bench. It then got so duty that I had to look for a spare towel but unfortunately they only proved you with one towel per day… Our room (#205) had a terrible canalization smell in it. I could actually only sleep with the toilet door shut and the windows wide open… Breakfast was good though and the lady that serves is it charming and inviting. All in all would probably be decent for just an overnight stay but not for the price they charge. We paid €522 for 3 nights for two people (rate with breakfast) Btw we also had dinner there as the hotel is so far from the town you do not dance to go anywhere. Food was beautifully presented but really mediocre tasting to say the least and the service extremely slow… I am not coming back for sure!

We are a group of eight golfers who go away twice a year and over the years have stayed in many hotels across Spain and Portugal.|Our five nights at the Convento La Magdalena was amazing and it is definitely one of the best places we have stayed.|It's a little way out of Antequera ( 10 min drive) but because of this it's an incredibly peaceful, quiet area with beautiful scenery everywhere you look.|I used to go for a walk each morning and the surrounding area is so peaceful and breathtaking I had to drag myself back for breakfast :-)|The breakfast was excellent (with plenty of options) and all the staff I encountered were really lovely, friendly and helpful.|We only tried the bar food but this was really tasty and reasonably priced.|Thanks Convento La Magdalena. We will be back!||

Great location and interesting building let down by some issues. We were given a garden room which unbeknown to us was below the function room in which a party was taking place with heavy metal music blaring all Saturday afternoon and early evening. There were alternative rooms but nobody thought to offer them. |The decor could be great but is now tired with damp stains on our bedroom walls and mould and missing mosaic tiles in the swimming pool.|The breakfast was good but dinner in the restaurant was not. Some interesting dishes were invariably spoiled by either being too cold or having an inappropriate sauce. I had to repeat dishes as there were not sufficient alternatives for our three night stay. Many of the staff were charming particularly at breakfast whereas others didn't show much interest in our requirements. Possibly being short staffed was the reason although with so few guests in evidence this seems unlikely.|We would give the hotel another try as there were some really good points but would probably eat out in future.|

What a find ! A former convent with a very sympathetic conversion to a Rural Hotel of quality and style. Great rural location but not too far fro town of Antequera. Delightful scenery. Period furniture throughout- yes some bits were a bit faded around the edges but that just added to the charm. Great dining experience. Wonderful staff.
