A review of their restaurant only - although the service received in the restaurant would probably be representative of the hotel in general. First and foremost the food in the restaurant was excellent. I highly recommend the fish and chips which both my wife and i had. My kids had the spaghetti from the kids menu and it was also excellent. However when i asked if they would put the Rugby match on the television i was told categorically no. Within 15 minutes the restaurant was empty and i asked again and i was told that the manager didnt allow it. A feeble effort was made 15 minutes later but quickly abandoned. One has to wonder why you have an expensive TV on the wall if you wont put the 6 nations on for the sole customer in the restaurant. But thankfully we went to Boyles and spent our money there instead. At least 2 other parties asked if they would put on the Rugby but we saw them all in Boyles when we went there. The bar in the Conyngham Arms was empty and the staff had their preference for music (Jazz and Irish) on instead. Of course we left 0% as a tip and definitely wont be back - inspite of the good food.

We had our wedding in the Conyngham Arms Hotel in September 2024 and it is an excellent venue and myself and my husband can’t recommend them enough. Some particular points of note were: The decor: The hotel is decorated beautifully and the garden is gorgeous. We couldn't have picked a better setting for the ceremony. The Food: Guests were absolutely raving about the food. We also had a lot of different dietary requirements, and all were catered to perfectly. The Staff: Tracie, the wedding coordinator for the hotel, is excellent at her job and was available and approachable regarding any of my many questions in the lead up to the day and kept us all on track throughout the day itself. The entire team, from the servers to the bar staff, were fantastic. They were attentive, friendly, and ensured every detail was looked after. When an unfortunate situation led to our cake not making it to the venue, the chef put together a fake cake for our pictures that looked so good people thought I was joking when I told them it was cardboard. Overall, a very positive experience and we would tell anyone considering them as a venue to go for it.

Stopped in Sunday lunch after visiting Newgrange. Really nice menu for adults and kids. Very quick service and great food. Would go back again.

I was in room 13, which should not be a room for guests. Smelled strongly like mildew, mattress was awful., room was so small that a regular size man would have had a hard time turning around. Staff was excellent, though, and food was great. But maybe save room 13 as a storage room.

This hotel is lovely. Rooms are pleasant, spacious, airy and clean. The staff could not be more helpful and nice. And the food is excellent. A great spot to stay if you're exploring New Grange etc it's all only 10 mins away ish. There's a great little bar a couple of doors up from the hotel and the place on the corner is great for lunch

Came for lunch with friends on bank holiday monday. The menu has good variety and between us we had wings, prawn red curry, rib of beef and the mushroom pasta. All was really tasty. Also a good wine collection by the glass and bottle. The decor is fabulous and the service really good. I hadn't been here for a couple of years and it's much improved. I'm glad to recommend it and will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel that looks like an old quaint pub. We actually stay in the building across the road and up the path. The building looked like a stone manor and looked newly renovated. We had a triple room and it was huge. A double and single bed that was so comfortable. The bathroom was also huge with a great shower. We were visiting for a wedding at the Mill house and it was perfect. A very quiet location. Clean and modern inside. Really reasonable price. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family and I would love to stay again.

We had booked for our wedding guests as we got married nearby at The Millhouse. However, the experience left us feeling let down. Communication with the staff leading up to our wedding was a nightmare – they double-booked several of our guests, creating unnecessary stress at a time when we had plenty on our plate already. To make matters worse, we had to make multiple calls to sort out their errors, and during one call, they hung up on me mid-conversation. They did attempt to rectify the situation by accommodating guests elsewhere, but the whole ordeal was frustrating and unprofessional. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without this added hassle. If you’re considering Conyngham Arms for wedding guest stays, I’d urge caution. As an aside, the rooms are nice and clean.

Yelp
The service here was spectacular! Everyone we encountered was so nice and pleasant. The rooms were comfortable, and it was nice to have the hotel bar. Our breakfast was included as well which is a huge perk. We stayed here before visiting Emerald Park as this was recommended on their website. It is within good distance to the park, but is an expensive cab ride if you aren't driving yourself there!

Yelp
Got a deal on one of the sites for a a two nights stay in the hotel. The hotel itself is lovely- the atmosphere is friendly and warm, the food in the restaurant was excellent too, really enjoyed the drinks at the bar also. Room was quite big and really nice, but the bed was a disaster. It was a four poster bed ( which I was very excited about, looked great in the pictures, but soon the excitement turned into a disappointment) and it creaked A LOT and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. Was very hard to get a good nights sleep! Breakfast on the morning was excellent! All in all a pleasant enough experience, but the beds need some care!

Yelp
I always thought Slane consisted of just a castle and a very large field for concerts but turns out they have a picturesque village too. We found Conynghams when we were on our way to Tankardstown House for Sunday lunch. We decided to stay here instead but turns out they are owned by the same people anyway. The hotel is very pretty outside and draws you in. The restaurant was packed and we got the last table. One thing that puts me off eating out on Sundays is most places only offer a limited carvery menu. At initial glance unfortunately Conynghams was the same, pork, beef, salmon etc but seeing the dishes coming thankfully this wasn't the type of carvery you would get in your local pub. I had serious Yorkshire pudding envy which everyone seemed to be ordering, they were huge! In the end I opted for the pork belly which was melt in your mouth stuff. There is a lovely garden out the back for drinks after if you want and the rooms in this place have the kind of decor girls will drool over, i know I did. Definitely a place to bring the girlfriend, mother or family for a day out.

Yelp
I was up in the air about what to expect from Conyngham Arms Hotel. After a christening, we were invited to enjoy a 3 course meal with about 30 other guests. In the back of the restaurant they have a lovely private room called the Lavender Room which included private bar, our own wait staff and a lovely back garden. The room was set up very elegantly and the service was spot on. The choices were excellent for a 3 course meal an especially serving 30 people at once. The choices for starters were between soup and fresh homemade bread or a chicken Cesar salad, the main course was either a lovely cut of beef or salmon, both served with seasonal veggies, and finally the dessert was an apple crumble with custard. I always find it hard when eating at a large gathering to decide what to choose as you wonder will my meat be overcooked for my main amongst many other concerns. I do have to say I had the salmon and salad as my starter and everything was just perfect. After enjoying a lovely meal, excellent service and a few cocktails we were able to lounge in the back garden and soak up a bit of sun. The back patio/beer garden/back garden (whatever you prefer) easily accommodated 30-40 people with small tables and picnic benches. It was covered with flowers and trees. For a moment I forgot I was in Slane and thought that I was on holidays! When leaving, what I did see of the restaurant itself looked very nice. The decor was very vintage and country which is exactly what I love. One side of the place seemed to be more loungy for coffee, tea and cakes fitted out with sofas and oversized chairs. The other side was more for eating with a small, tasteful bar. Although I don't travel to Slane regularly, I will certainly be back for a visit to eat here!

Yelp
I stayed here for a wedding. I think it's overpriced but I had no choice to stay here. The room was nice but a little small. The food was ok-nothing to brag about. check in should be at 3pm not 4pm. Those staying at the sister hotel Tankardstown had far superior rooms for a lot less. Also transport to and from the hotels was not free nor arranged which was disappointing. If you want to stay in an overpriced hotel this is for but my guess there are lovelier hotels in the area. If it weren't for the wedding, I would have stayed somewhere else.

Yelp
My wife absolutely loves this place. When we lived in Slane, once in a while we would take a walk down the street to here. The atmosphere in the main restaurant has a cozy feel to it and it has never been too loud in there that I can not hear the person in front of me talking. The chairs are also fairly comfortable which is a must for me. The menu is good although my wife always went with the shrimp starter. She loved it so much that the chef actually gave her some of the sauce to take home with her once time. I liked their Caesar salad as it didn't taste like mayo on lettuce. It actually tasted like Caesar dressing. Although the chef did joke with me about me wanting a steak well done. He made it medium for me and I haven't looked at well done steak since.
