We booked a four night stay at Coogee Bay Boutique Hotel, and while the room itself was beautiful and the location was great, there were some major drawbacks.
For starters, we were travelling as a couple with a baby, and the room we were put in was on the second floor in a part of the building that had no lift. This meant we had to carry our pram up and down two flights of stairs every time we went out, as there was nowhere the pram could be securely left on the ground floor.
Secondly, the windows were paper thin so you could hear every single noise from the street, as well as the pub below. This made for three nights of little sleep for both us and our baby, and as a result we ended up checking out early and not staying for the last night.
And finally, we noticed a pretty major safety issue in our room. Our room had a window seat, and the double hung windows open so that the opening is at the bottom. One of these windows opened far enough that a child would easily be able to fall out of the window, especially with the window seat right there at the same level. This was very concerning, especially given we were on the second floor.
Overall, the location is fantastic, and the room was very spacious, but some acoustic treatment would go a long way. I also suggest for anyone who decides to stay here that needs use of a lift for a pram, mobility reasons, or otherwise, make sure you are put in a room in the part of the hotel that does have a lift.
