Cook Out

This review is based on takeout. I've never eaten at a Cook Out before. Only the drive thru was open. I found the menu confusing. Under the pressure of cars behind me I just ordered a burger with everything + jalapeños. I asked if I could add chicken tenders. I couldn't understand the person on the speaker. Another person stepped in and read out what I ordered. Not quite right but I didn't want to quibble. When I got back to the hotel, I was very impressed by the burger and the strips. I was surprised there was no dip for the strips. It's that a Canadian thing? There were also no napkins in the bag. Not sure if you needed to ask for them or not.

The customer service was excellent. They helped me navigate there menus. Cool Out gives a big bang for your buck. I was able to get a double burger with cheese and everything on it, a beef quesidilia, fries, and a strawberry milkshake for $11.52. That's impressive in these days of inflation and "shrink"flation. And to top it all off at was delicious. Thank you Cook Out for great service and a high value meal at a fair and decent price.

Every time I've come to the cookout everything is always been great superb and wonderful for a fast food chain but two nights ago we went to the drive-thru specifically asked for two hot dogs ketchup and mustard and chili and coleslaw no onions and a cherry cobbler milkshake, they got it all messed up the hot dog had onions and they did not even blend the cookies and the milkshake there were full size cookies the service for Saturday night was the worst ever whoever was working Saturday night was not doing their job properly

This is my first time try their hamburger and I really enjoyed it! The price is really attractive compared to other hamburger places yet offer decent quality and different options you can choose. Burger set offers TWO sides with only $7.99 and this was very attractive to me. The burger with every ingredient was classic and simple yet delicious. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a simple & classic burger. But if you want an intense, heady flavor, then this place isn’t for you.

Service was terrible. Lady in the drive thru speaker was very rude and had a terrible attitude. And when I kindly asked if I could add one more thing to my order she shook her head and said uh uh no. Seriously ? Where is the customer service. I had no problem going back in line I just had a question. Never coming back.

Family loved it. Our first visit ever. Great burgers, excellent prices. Milk shakes were a big hit. Clean to eat in. Long line outside in the drive thru. We will go back.

Re: Receipt number 1300 - November 16, 2025 I am writing to share a recent experience at one of your franchise locations that fell significantly below the standards of any brand. This was my first visit to this location, and unfortunately it has left a VERY poor impression. During my visit, the drive-thru cashier rushed through my order and spoke in a manner that came across as rude and dismissive. When I arrived at the window, I paid for my food but was given someone else’s order (#1301). Thankfully, I checked the items before leaving, which required me to park and go inside to request the correct meal. Once I finally received my order, the issues continued. The food quality was poor, the condiments I requested were missing, and the soda machine was not calibrated properly. This experience highlights several areas in need of improvement, including customer service training, management oversight, kitchen accuracy, and equipment maintenance. Given this experience, I will not be returning to this location and possibly any location of yours. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve operations for future customers. Do not respond asking that I return but instead please train your staff and management.

This cookout is slow never been to one so slow, went inside several people seen us standing at counter no one said anything after all of our party going to the restroom one at a time cashier finally came to take our order, she had been in lobby the whole time? Took our order and disappeared again, after a while someone arrived with our food when asked about the one milkshake we ordered he looked confused as to why we did not have it already and had to go asking around to see where it had gone As we were leaving there was a line in drive thru around the building making it difficult to get out of the parking garage lot, not local maybe this is how they are, our cookouts are fastest, if it takes more that 12 minutes from the time you enter the parking lot until you are leaving they are apologizing for how long everything took, this place took that long just to e ready to take the order

One of my favorites when visiting the triangle. I was surprised to see lower than expected scores The first thing I noticed was the % 100 grade from the local health inspector. My burger was just like I had made it on a grill. Very hot and fresh made to order. I can't get hush puppies at home. The ones i got today were hot and fresh and I was surprised on how many I got. I wish they were opening stores in CT.

Not sure the food gets a 5 star but I love the place. We don't cookouts were I live so I try to stop at one when in the area. The food is ok but for fast food it is very good. I found a location that had a Wendy's on one corner, a Mcdonalds on the other corner and a cook out next door. at 10 pm at night there wasn't anyone at Mcd or Wendy's but the line was around the corner of the building at the cookout. Even though it was a long line, it went very fast. Go for the fast food, the experience and the shakes.

Ended up at Cook Out near midnight on a weeknight. I was hungry and it was one of the few places open late. Only the drive thru was open, and there was a pretty significant line. The menu is a bit overwhelming. They have a lot of options, and the combos are not numbered. You choose a tray, a main, two sides, and a drink. I opted for a double burger with everything on it, with jalapeno cheese fries and white cheddar cheese bites for sides. I upgraded the drink to a chocolate shake. They were pretty quick. I got my food from the drive thru very quickly. The burger was surprisingly good. The bag advertised the food as "cooked outdoors style" and that burger tasted like a burger bought at the grocery store, cooked over a flaming grill. The fries were a bit soft, but they were well salted, and covered in standard cheese sauce and fresh jalapeno. White cheddar cheese bites were tasty, but they didnt stretch like a mozzarella stick. The chocolate shake i ordered was super thick, creamy, and delicious. It's a simple burger, simple fries, simple shake, and it's cheap. And sometimes, simple and cheap is all you need. Definitely worth a visit.

This place was surprisingly good for being a regional chain. As we drove to our final destination, I saw many signs advertising the shakes and burgers, so we decided to stop and give it a try. I got a regular burger with mayo, ketchups and pickles, fries and a pache cobbler shake, while my husband got the big double tray with fries and the Orange Squeeze shake. I DID NOT like the shakes. It was like trying to drink a pint of ice cream and was way too thick. It should have been serve in a bowl instead of a cup! The fries and the burger were very basic, but just like a burger you would eat at a cookout. The staff seemed bored with their jobs, but when you approached the counter to order, they were very friendly and helpful. The .enu was very diverse and had a ton of options. If I have my kids with me on the next trip, I would bring them to try Cook Out, but probably not order the shakes.

Make sure you check your food before driving off. They get my order wrong 90% of the time. I am a vegetarian so don't order meat and somehow my food always ends up with meat in it!!!

We stopped by on our way home after dropping off a friend at the airport. We were at the long line at the drive-thru when one of the staff approached us and said that there's no line inside if we want to come in instead. I needed to hit the restroom anyway, so we went in. Both the ladies' restroom and the dining area were clean. No surprise that their sanitation rating is 100%!!! I had my usual Heath Shake. As usual, it's delicious! I would have gotten the tray with double up side, but since wasn't that hungry, just got the shake. Good food and very reasonable prices! Bookmarked this particular location for future visits!

One of the best things about cook out is their shakes. They have about seventeen million varieties of shakes. Okay so maybe it's only about fifteen million but you get the point. They will also add more to them if you request. I always ask for extra malt and they always oblige. If you've been here before then you know the shakes are super thick. One of the things about them is you will need a spoon because the straw will not work. I'm not considering that a negative though because it's a quality product. They also have their trays. For a tray, you get an entree, then two additional entrees aside dishes. Name another place where you can get a double cheeseburger as your main meal and chicken strips and a corn dog as sides. The food is very reasonably priced and always cooked fresh. They also have a lot of additional toppings. Cooked onions and chili are examples. The only reason i'm knocking off a star is because of the speed they speak in the drive through. They always talk so fast it's almost impossible to understand what they are saying. This includes when they repeat back your order. I always thought this was just me until the last visit. Our friend in the car Made the same comment. At least i'm not crazy. 4 stars for now. Five in the future if they can chill out on speaking like an auctioneer.

$10 for all of this is so cheap ! The shake was actually gas I asked the cashier (who was nice asl) what his favorite was and he put me on mixing Oreo Cheesecake Caramel and Strawberry. The burger was really good too and the fries were definitely acceptable. Overall CaloriesPerDollar and quality of service was amazing. It was a bit dark inside though and I would've liked if it was more well lit.

I walked in the house bragging about the customer service at this location. I don't visit this location often as I don't live on this side of town. I placed a larger order (meals for 5 ppl) and with only saying it once, all the orders were perfect. The food was hot, the orders were perfect. I asked for extra condiments and I received extra. I arrived at home and took a bite of my burger and started chomping down on something hard. Pulled it from my mouth and it was a piece of plastic. I'm sure it was a one off but I was disappointed in the manager's response when I called. After I explained, his response was simply," ohhhkaaay, so you want a refund?". No apologies or anything. Just asked when I could come back and hung up. While I was impressed by the staff's attitude and attentiveness, I guess it unfortunately didn't extend to the manager.

I've been a Cook Out lover for years and this location is one of the best ones I've been to! You can't find the value you get at Cook Out anywhere else. The trays are about $6 and you get a HUGE variety and amount of food. The service here was also incredible! There was a long line in the drive-thru when I went and I thought it would take at least 20 min. We were out with our food (hot food!) in 10 min or less! They even have a walk up window where you can order from, as well. As vegetarians, some of my family members were worried there wouldn't be many options for them to choose from. And they only saw the cheese quesadilla on the menu. But after asking the staff, they immediately and gladly agreed to make veggie quesadillas for them. I found this incredibly thoughtful and did not expect this to happen at a fast food restaurant. The best part was that despite having to make an item that wasn't even on the menu, the whole order was still ready in less than 10 min! MUST TRYs: hushpuppies, any one of their 50+ milkshake flavors, Cheerwine, onion rings, quesadillas

Loved it! Food was delicious and plenty of it for a good price. The food was fresh and timely. Highly recommend

This cookout is slower than other ones I am used to and also made three errors in my order. Go to a different cookout than this one if you can.

I asked my coworkers what would be like an In-n-Out equivalent in Raleigh, and I was told that the Cook Out would be it. Um. Well, no... not at all. The Cook Out, however, was not bad though. The burger tasted more like a Dick's burger from Seattle, which I do like very much. I ordered the Cookout Tray, which included an entree, 2 sides, and a drink. Service was pretty fast. The shakes came out before the meals. I got a cheeseburger with Cajun seasoning, ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions. I thought that the burger was greasy, but hey, that's what made it tasty. The grilled onions were the best part. They gave the burger a nice sweetness, and I also liked that they weren't grilled for too long. The onions gave the burger a slight crunch. I ordered fries and hush puppies as my sides. They were fine--nothing really special about them. I didn't realize that you could ask for Cajun fries, so I missed out on them. The fresh banana milk shake was excellent! It was so thick and creamy that I had to eat a portion of the milkshake with a spoon. You could really taste the freshness of the bananas and eat the chucks of banana in the shake.

Only continue to read after you've accepted your mission not to tell! You must tell no one! Food was satisfying. Wait was not. Came here for a extremely late night food rush; wait. Food after the long wait, was worth it. I've been craving grille food for some time now. I couldn't tell it was grilled though so I'm still waiting.

Started going to Cookout back in the 80's maybee earlY 90's in Greensboro NC. For the price, you can't beat the food. I mean come on, you can get a burger plate with sides of a corn dog and nuggets. Crazy combinations. I mean for college students this is the bomb. Oh. And try one of their 100's milkshakes

Go for the season milkshakes or if you want to test your bodies metabolism on any given day. I've been going to Cook Out for years. It's never an amazing experience but its usually what you want at that given moment and that's why you find yourself at Cook Out at either 1PM or 1AM ordering who knows what. Typically I'm ordering the seasonal milkshakes like the watermelon ones or the eggnog ones. Occasionally I'll still grab a burger cheddar style along with a corn dog and chicken nuggets just to round out the four basic food groups on a platter. Cook Out is like the taco bell of american food. It's cheap, not terrible good for you (it's actually pretty bad for you) but it tastes great before you have that crash of "What did I do to my body?". Cook Out is a staple of the Carolinas. If you go to Cook Out reguarly you're not reading this review you've already left with a greasy bad of food and a few milkshakes.

We stopped by for a quick bite and Natalia was our cashier. To say that she was amazing is an understatement... she was busy, but all smiles and very happy. She made sure we got everything we needed and did it with a smile. We need more Natalia's!!!

Not big on leaving bad reviews, but made a yelp just to comment on how I intentionally avoid this specific cookout after about 8:00pm. The line is always wrapped around the building and never moves fast. Typical wait time is 20-30 mins for okay quality fast food

After many years of just having to drive-through to get my Cookout trays I am happy to see locations like this one where we can sit down and eat where we order. This store is always clean and the waits are usually very reasonable for how busy they are. If you order s shake though the wait can be longer and sometimes incorrect. The worst part about this location is the parking situation. Tight fit and small lot. Overall I love Cookout and this location proves why...

It's been fun coming out to North Carolina for this manager's conference. Every day we've eaten at different local places. I really like this place. I would go here alot if I lived here. The food was really great, and the price really reasonable. Don't get me wrong. The other places we ate at were really great also, and I would definitely go back again. This place for the price and all the food you get, I would go alot. 5 stars all the way for me. THANKS Cookout!

This is the closest cookout to my home and weirdly the first time I have been here. It also the cleanest and nicest because there is a dining room. It was sparkling clean. You could probably eat off the counter or table, and they were cleaning just as I was leaving too. The service was friendly. I came here because I went to a yogurt shop, sampled 3-4 flavors, and was ultimately disappointed. I turned to another customer and asked her what flavors she liked, and she said, "Ummmmm. It's so hard to choose." I could tell in her voice she didn't like them either lol! Isn't there a joke in The Good Place about yogurt being just okay but ultimately a disappointment? So I left the store and said, "F this, I'm getting ice cream!" I went to the closest cook out and saw a loooooooong line of cars at around 3 pm. So I went inside. No line!! The person behind the counter was very friendly and helped me decide on a milkshake. There are 40+ flavors, so it's always a challenge. I also ordered a corn dog because I have trouble saying no to corn dogs. I think I paid around $4 for everything? Not too bad and if you get a plate, it's an even better deal. As always the shake was thick as heck, so I waited for it to melt a little and ate my delicious corn dog. And guess what, the shake? 1000x better than froyo, as you might guess. This store also has some cute decorations that made me smile. I shared the cardinal banner with my bird lover mom and she texted back, "Good advice." Now that I know there's such a nice Cook Out nearby, I will be back. But not too often because I am working on my summer body! Also, I asked for a little thing of ranch on my way out, and the aforementioned friendly person behind the counter was all too happy to give me a couple. I'm sorry, I put ranch on everything. Pizza, chicken nugs, fries, Oreos. Just kidding about the Oreos. But ranch goes good with anything savory!!

I have never left a review on a business ever before. Coming from someone who works in the service industry, this means a lot because I've been there and I get it. They were out of milkshakes, corn dogs, cheese quesadillas. I have never been through a drive through with this bad of service. The manager of this place needs to hire better workers. I was screamed at while ordering. One of the coworkers came outside and parked their vehicle at the entrance to block off people from entering. Just no respect for people at all. Do not come here, I will never come to this location EVER again. I would seriously like to get in contact with the owner of this location and explain to them the shitty service I received.

Brand new and clean as a whistle. Super nice employees too. So why the two stars? Seems it takes a couple months or so for the grills to get seasoned at these new sit down locations before the char flavor gets into the meat. Plus they use a different exhaust system compared to the drive thru locations so it won't be as strong. That was the case with my burger, not a lot of flame flavor. The corn dog was very good. Fried just right and the dog itself was good. Was surprised there were only four onion rings in the order. Seemed kind of scant to me. They were just okay. I had a peanut butter banana shake, which didn't sit really well in my stomach and I had to throw half of it out. The peanut butter was in the bottom of the cup and never really got mixed in. They play Christian soft rock on a continual loop. No more country music. Neither is my cup of tea. Also bible verses on the cups was a bit of a surprise too, but no surprise at all where they're coming from.

I originally thought service was slow because of the single drive through line (and maybe that's part of it), but after placing an order inside it seems this location is way understaffed. My first visit I left after sitting parked in the drive thru line for 10 minutes. My second visit, I parked and placed a to-go order inside. I did get my food faster than going through the drive thru, but it wasn't all correct. The dining area wasn't very clean and most condiments, napkins, straws were not stocked.

This is one of their better locations we love the cookout trays and they are good and greasy just what you expect from cook out

They said the dining room was open and it was closed so we couldn't try it. We saw two other families try to come into dine and they left once they realized it was closed as well. We drove from apex so it was a disappointment.

The lowdown: Best milkshakes ever! Best price/food ratio anywhere! I always get the Cajun chicken cookout tray w a bacon wrap and fries w Cajun sprinkle! This feeds me for 2 meals! Seriously! So worth it and it's under 6 bucks! I have not had a bad choice here! The hush puppies are good too. There should be cookouts everywhere!

One of my favorite cookouts! I love the indoor seating and the always friendly staff! Besides where else can you go and for less than $6.50 get more food than you can eat? I highly recommend this location when in the mood for a fast food burger with good taste and little cost.

First time at one of these, and was pleasantly surprised. 40+ flavors of shakes, and they even customized it for me. Got the bacon ranch wrap, which was quite tasty, lettuce was fresh and crispy, bacon was delicious, and with the shake it was enough for supper. Staff was very courteous and efficient, restaurant was clean, would definitely stop again when in the area.

Big Shot Out to the skeleton crew. Pulled up at 2:28am on 2/26. The line was pretty long, got my food pretty fast, hot and the staff was very friendly and helpful. No attitudes.

Five Stars for the service by the cashier. This was my first time eating at this establishment. We are from Cali. The cashier was helpful in assisting us on how to order. He recommended some popular flavors of the shakes and my wife chose banana pudding. She didn't really like it. The burger was not like In n Out but the patty was definitely juicier and plump. My wife stated the cashier was very polite and friendly when she picked up her order at the counter. I do like In n Out more..

For $6.35 I get a double bacon and cheese burger, a chicken tender wrapped in a flour tortilla and an order of fries. Burger is like a better version of Burger King chicken wrap has a good flavor and fries are good with the cajun spices. For the price is a really good deal, good flavor and fills your tummy.

My first visit. I decided to go basic. Hot dog with ketchup and mustard, regular fries, and a chocolate milkshake. Everything was good, not amazing, but good. I was very hungry and ate everything. The hot dog was just a hot dog, a little small - but flavorful - I could taste the "cookout" grill flavor - yum, and the bun was like the ones I get at the store. The fries were a little limp by the time I got home and ate them, but they were flavorful. The chocolate shake was very thick (use a spoon), but I did drink every drop. I like the chocolate shakes at Chick Fil A better, but this was fine. I plan to return and try one of their burgers and one of their other 40 shake flavors - or maybe I'll have a Cheerwine float. So many options....

Drive through lady literally screams the whole time and is the most rude person I've ever met. Definitely won't go back on a Saturday night bc that service is absolutely pathetic

This particular location gets very busy after sunset...expect to spend some time waiting in line before teaching the order speaker. Also,, check your orders carefully before driving away from the pick-up window - on my most recent pick-up receipt, 2 items of 5 were correct, 2 other items weren't as ordered, and one was missing altogether.

Enjoy their food, but their service was outrageously bad today. I can forgive slow service when an establishment is swamped with customers, but there's not many legitimate reasons for super slow service when the place is not busy. Drove in to grab a milk shake. As I drove around the store to get in line for the drive thru, I saw that there was no line for service inside. Opted to park and run in to get a shake. Ordered the shake at 5:44 pm. At 6:08 no milk shake yet. At this point I went up to the counter and tried to get someone's attention. No one seemed to care. Oh well, just opted to walk out before I got more pi**ed. Cook-Out last a regular customer. There are other competitors I can go eat at.

Putting the fast in fast-food. I don't get Cook Out often, but the Cook Out tray is a good deal and hits the spot! And you get your food quickly. I'm a fan of the chicken wrap and quesadilla as sides. They are presented pretty unceremoniously, items are individually wrapped in aluminum foil. But I don't mind that since it tastes fine. By far my favorite thing about Cook Out is the milkshakes!!! Can combine up to 4 flavors for the same price! So so good.

Ordered a milkshake w/double chocolate + Oreo... this is what I got in return. Just a layer of crushed Oreo on top of chocolate milkshake. They usually blend the toppings into the shake but I guess someone forgot to use the blender.

Waited 20 minutes for an Oreo milkshake (still waiting as I type this)...otherwise it's a good restaurant and it's clean. Just expect to wait...longer than usual. Ended up getting a refund cause I'm extremely impatient

This Cook Out is huge, has tons of seating. Compared to the other sit-down Cook Out I go to, it's also super quick. No experience with the drive-through, but every time I go in, the tray I order comes out pretty much how I expect it to, so no complaints here. Not going to touch on the food because it's Cook Out; the food is self-descriptive.

Awesome, Awesome Milkshakes! The office ordered milkshakes to celebrate some recent success, and C.O.RTP did a terrific job of filling that order in a timely and efficient manner. Very tasty!

Clean and busy. The parking lot can fill up when they are busy, so be patient. I've found the food quality on our with other locations. One of my favorites is the cheddar style. They have Cheerwine in the fountains, too! So very Carolina! There is a small patio for outdoor seating, and lots of booths and picnic style tables inside. It would be nice to have a ketchup and napkin station away from the counter because it gets busy up there.

I'll give them a clean 5 stars. Reason being... It's a cookout with a dining room!!! If I'm correct it's the only one of its kind in the Raleigh Durham area. It's brand new and it's super clean. The location is awesome as its in a centralized busy area. We stopped by to grab a few items and went inside the establishment. The place has only been known for a day or so. Everything looks awesome. There's a lot of people here as they are all excited about the fine in experience. With a crowd of 15 or more people and a flooded drive thru, we still got our food within 5 minutes!!! Awesome job CookOut!

Brand new cookout just opened today! Great atmosphere. Smells brand new. It's one of the few cook outs where you can park then go inside and eat! Inside there are only two registers so be ready to wait in line but it moves pretty quickly. The bathrooms in a widowed spot. Front and center as soon as you walk in look for he red doors. Rustic wooden theme inside. This place is decorated and designed very well. The food was great! Consistent with any other cook out. If you haven't been - this food will taste like authentic charcoal grilled food. Delish! The fries are great and the shakes! 40 amazing flavors! Hint - you can mix more than one flavor of shake! You want Oreo and snickers? Get an Oreo snickers shake! This is a real shake. Thick and chunky just the way it should be. Pick your meat and then pick your style. I love cheddar style - cheddar cheese (like cheese whiz), onions and mayo! ENJOY!

I have gone thru the drive thru or I should I have once and my wife has once and each time they get the order wrong! It's real simple, the orders were for the same thing, double cheeseburger with bacon but different toppings. Both times which were months from each other we got bbq! How in the world do you give bbq instead of a double cheeseburger with bacon? I went on to the website and complained and someone called just to apologize. Each time I have gone back to speak with a manager and I ask them to read the receipt and then look what we got. Each time it's a different manager and they ask me what is wrong? So it appears to start from the top down. So if you go thru the drive thru check your order before you pull away from the window or go inside. The food is good and reasonably priced but get your act together in the drive thru. Also the milk shakes which is more a soft serve is real good!

I ordered a burger tray cookout style with double cheese fries and a burger tray with ketchup, mustard, chili and pickle with fries and nuggets on 9/20/18. When my boyfriend took a second bite into his burger (the second tray) the meat was basically raw inside. We called three times to let staff know, no one answered the phone. He also mention his nuggets tasting gummy like they were cooked through. Usually the food is pretty decent.

Food cold and seemed like it was sitting all day. I understand being short staff and prices going up with all that's going on in the world but the food should be at a 100% quality. I highly recommend skipping this place and going somewhere that you can get your moneys worth.

Worst service. We just ordered 2 milkshakes inside and they forgot our order. Reminded them again and waited 30 minutes and they still didn't make our order. Just asked for our money back and left.
