Cook Out

Inexpensive quick meal. Burger and cheese bites are excellent. Good selection of sauces too. Have not gotten any of their shakes yet bc the tray fills me up, but they hace a huge selección to choose from.

All the rave, if your in virginia come check them out. I did, and they really give you like 5 fries, or hush puppies(3) or onion rings(4) like I mean the food is good, but I rather go some place paying the same amount and get acutal food with the order. Total was 50 for the family and you could probably combined all the sides and it would one acutal serving of sides. Lol cook out tray standard is 6-9 onion rings(on the internet bu cook out themselves). They say call the 866 number but get sent to voice mail. Naw we will just go somewhere else for now on

Probably my worst Cook Out experience ever. Service was slow. We ordered 4 trays. 2 out of the 4 had the wrong sides. Trying to explain this to the staff was painful. Then it took longer to get the correct sides then it took to get the original order.

They never mix up our order of unsweet tea and diet coke, it's always perfect and they're always kind and quick. I love this Cook Out. Only taking one star away in the atmosphere category because I'm personally not a fan of all of their printed religious paraphernalia.

Went to the drivethru 2 nights in a row. Food was good, the service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and courteous. It was a real pleasure to go there. And the milkshakes are great!

As of writing this review this is the northernmost cookout, hoping for more expansion into the DMV and Maryland though. I was very happy to find one opened up here and makes for a good stop when traveling by. Good service and great value as usual. You get a cheaper meal then what you would get elsewhere and it tastes better too. Highly recommend. The milkshakes are worth the extra cost and really make the expensive.

Cookout is good because the food is edible and affordable. It also stays open late so I can actually grab a bite to eat before 3 am and have myself a decent meal. In terms of the *taste* of my meal tonight I have no complaints. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted as good as it needed to for what I paid. My gripe is with the steadily decreasing portion sizes of the sides when ordering the meal trays. I understand skimping on the more expensive sides like onion rings or cheese bites, which is why I always order fries to supplement my meal. They're nothing to write home about but at least I feel like I'm getting a full meal. However, tonight's visit was really pushing the limit for how much skimpage I could handle. I got precisely 6 cheese bites and a scant handful of fries. My husband got 4 very, *very* tiny onion rings also with a pitiful serving of fries. Y'all. Come on now. If I'm paying close to 20 bucks for 2 trays I *at least* want a *full* Cookout box. Cheap indeed....

First and last time eating at Cook Out. Heard rave reviews about this place. Decided to come and check it out. Placed my order and as I sat down it was ready. Never a good thing. The fries were over seasoned and the burger…the cheese ain’t even melted. Yeah no thank you. Mediocre food and places to eat are a staple in Virginia…It’s sad.

I haven't been to a Cook Out in ages and I was pleasantly surprised by this location! It was clean and well-organized inside and the new boxes are really cute. However, the portions are a little smaller than I remember but tastes just like I remember. It's nothing crazy, but just some solid fried carbs to hit the spot. Love a good ole corndog and crispy onion rings from here!

I literally just got a mint chocolate milkshake and it was fine! Very filling too and thick, just like the other cookouts I've been to. Almost $5 for this shake, which I don't remember it being back in the days but inflation. Staff were nice and attentive with cleaning the tables actually. Parking was a bit annoying for me though, as I parked in the back of the store, and the drive through line blocked my way out, so I had to wait a bit until a kind person would actually let me leave.

It was my first time eating at a Cook Out. It was a little overwhelming trying to figure out where to start, what sides to pick and if I wanted a shake, soda or just water. There was a line but the cashiers were quick and efficient with those who knew what they wanted. (There was one customer behind me that explained the best choices for the most food.) I went with the Double tray (double burger), slaw and cheese bites. The slaw although good had too much sugar. The cheese bites/curds, were small but good, another 10 Or so would have been great. The double burger...I asked for everything plus bacon. 0.95 cents for what looked like a 1/4 piece of bacon, up charge for cheese and tomato. The burger patties were so thin I would not even consider a double to be a single in a non-fast food restaurant. You could not even taste the meat between the bun and condiments. The biggest negative is using styrofoam for dining in. They could be so much more environmentally friendly by using a paper bag. Great choices but if you want a good burger I definitely recommend finding someplace that is not fast food.

There was no line when we pulled up and our food came out very quickly! I got a burger cheddar style and they did not hold back! The hush puppies were ok but the fries were yummy. I enjoyed the cook out sauce. Atmosphere was nice and well kept. Would come again!

**Review for Cookout Restaurant in Winchester, VA 22601** I am absolutely livid after my recent experience at the Cookout restaurant in Winchester. After years of eagerly anticipating the chance to enjoy my favorite fast food, I finally made the trip, arriving at the drive-through at 3:25 AM on Saturday--well within the advertised hours of operation! The hours are clearly stated online and on the building, indicating they are open until 4 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. However, my excitement quickly turned into utter disappointment. Despite the menu light being on, I waited over five minutes at the speaker without any response. I tried to get someone's attention by saying "hello," but there was no acknowledgment. Frustrated, I pulled around to the drive-through window, where I saw an employee cleaning directly in front of the window. She could clearly see me but refused to make eye contact or respond, even when I politely attempted to get her attention. I didn't honk my horn or act rudely; instead, I persisted in saying, "ma'am, miss, hello," to no avail. While I understand that everyone has long shifts--especially considering the employee was pregnant--this should not excuse such a blatant lack of basic courtesy. Not a single word was offered to inform me that they were closed or that they had run out of food. I felt completely disregarded, as if my presence and business simply didn't matter at all. As someone who has spent my entire career in management and customer service, I can confidently say this experience was one of the most unprofessional I've ever encountered. Cookout prides itself on customer service, but my experience was the exact opposite. I strongly advise anyone considering visiting this location to call ahead and confirm they are actually open. It is incredibly disheartening to drive over 30 minutes only to be met with such unprofessionalism. I will be posting this review on multiple platforms, including Yelp and Google. It's disappointing because I typically reserve my reviews for businesses that genuinely deserve recognition for good service. However, I cannot overlook the appalling treatment I received at this Cookout. I have also reached out to Cookout customer service and left a voicemail, hoping for some form of response. If you're planning to visit this location, please proceed with caution. Your time and money deserve far better than the dismal experience I endured.

Food was booty. Even did a return an got something else and the food still sucked. Idk how cook out it still even open, atleast this one

If I wanted to eat cat shit I would have gotten it out of the litter box at home . Food was stale ,old , tasteless,and poorly portioned . Don't waste your time or money. Inedible.

Chain fast food burger joint that serves more than just burgers to go. The menu is big and a little complicated the first time, but once you figure it out it's a breeze. They offer grilled to order burgers- just like the ones in your backyard. They have burgers , dogs , chicken, fries and famous handmade milkshakes!! Super good burgers and seasoned fires better than most other fast food joints. Grab a burger and a shake - I am sure you will be impressed.

We love to get cookout on road trips - there isn't one too close to us so it's always a treat. I'm obsessed with their hushpuppies. I got the burger last time and it was a really solid burger. I like that you get to try a lot of things for a decent price. The milkshakes are a staple here. I always get the cheerwine because i don't find that commonly at other places. I love their barbecue and honey mustard sauces.

Over the weekend I had a cheddar burger and my son had a Cajun chicken sandwich along with fries and both were very good. Loved that chargrilled flavor.

Too expensive for sub par food. Burgers can be dry and sides, although many, can be hit or miss. Save your money & hit a Roy Rogers for that burger craving

Ok so it's fast food but Cookout everywhere else in the world is amazing. Ordered a Bacon Double but the. Bacon was undercooked and stringy. The Chicken Nuggets were THE absolute worst EVER! I believe they were microwaved reheated or something awful because they looked burnt in spots. The saving grace for the meal was the French fries were fresh and delicious and so was the Strawberry Banana Shake. Another negative was the Manager at the window only gave my husband and I 1 napkin. That is just laughable but sadly made for an uncomfortable experience using tissues we had in the car. Like you are literally packing a bag and couldn't get that right so how are you managing the whole store? I guess another chain comes to Winchester to die a slow death.

Don't get me wrong, I like cookout. But recently it's been completely FALLING OFF. I ordered 4 trays outwest style burger with extra onions, extra lettuce, and extra tomatoes. But these guys SMOTHERED our burgers in onions and gave us zero lettuce or tomatoes. We took out the excessive amount of onions and it came out to be almost an entire onion.

Always a great time at Cook out. Quick and friendly staff. Good cheap food. A+++++ Will be back.

This restaurant started out pretty good, but lately it has gone downhill. The fries are mushy and never crisp! They don't have packets of relish and I'd really like relish on my hot dogs. It would be so easy for them to add this condiment!! I do like the chili dogs.

Cute little place if your looking to for a cheaper family meal. Food takes just like you're at a cookout & there's something for everyone. Milkshakes are so good!

The food was okay but not great, really dry and they don't toast their buns. The milkshake was really good actually but was really hard to drink, we had to use spoons. Now onto the bad part. The service was absolutely horrible. Don't go unless you're prepared to stand in line for 20 mins while people are pushing past you and you're waiting for the manager (I think) to remember your 3 item order. And then when you go to pick up your order make sure not to make eye contact with the person holding it or they'll try to keep your shakes hostage. The ambience was fine except for the screaming baby and the rickety seats but that's not really within their control, at least half of it isn't. If you want a shake from here, go through the drive thru and pray they get it right.

My family hit the drive thru here for a quick bite. The boy on the speaker was incredibly polite and patient, as we had never eaten here before. Our food came out quick, AND it was all correct. Talk about top notch! That never happens in this area. The few employees we could see did appear to be well groomed, which is an awesome thing for a customer to see. The employees taking pride in themselves and their appearance, well, that speaks volumes. We didn't venture in for this trip, but I'm excited to dine in the next time we eat here. I hope the inside matches the quality of what we experienced in the drive thru.

Ordered a reg hamburger Lettuce Tomato onion and a pickle Lge coke Got my food at the drive thru No pickle? I paid with s $20 Bill was $7.21 They gave me $:11.55 change I went back and the employee could not figure it out The manager interceded and gave me a dollar Screwing me out of .24 WTF? ??

My family and I went through the drive-thru to order some lunch. We ordered our food, and the lady checked with us to see if everything was good with our order before we paid and went to the window. We told her that we needed to add cheese to our one burgers, and she said that already made it. So what is the point in checking over our order if you're just gonna make it anyway?? The burgers are paper thin, and our milkshakes were barely blended. The quesadilla was very spicy. I'm not too impressed.

Food isn't greasy. Burgers are tasty and the lettuce/tomatoes seem pretty fresh. Cajun fries and the hush puppies are good. Decent price compared to McDs that is way lower quality.

Menu is hard to figure out if you just want a deluxe cheeseburger. Been there twice in last couple months and they got order wrong both time. Which sucks cause you don't know till your gone Once wasn't even close.

Went to get food and when I got a side of onion rings they only gave me 4. There was a Latina girl with a long ponytail working. She had a horrible attitude.

I mean....it's OK. Certainly not the worst place to eat. The menu is confusing, the food is bland, and the portion sizes are small. There was a lot of talk about how great the reputation this place has, when it first opened, but it was a letdown.

I'm always going to love me some cookout.. the variety and the price alone is worth repeated visits.. but when you put chicken tenders in a tray, with another tray on top it tends to melt the Styrofoam which can't be that good for you.. at least I'm guessing it's not healthy.. either way I still love the cookout

Ordered a double cheeseburger. I got two paper thin patties. They barely fit on the bun. What a way to treat your customers. At least Wendy's actually gives you two regular size patties when you order a double cheeseburger. Isn't that what a double cheeseburger means?

OFFENSIVE! We were mid-meal when I realized what was coming over the sound system: a full-blown fire-and-brimstone sermon by some raving evangelist preacher! We asked that the station be changed and were told "We're a Christian company." (Then why are they open on Sundays?) I don't need to hear prosteletizing when I eat. NEVER AGAIN.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. Hamburger & hush-puppies were good, no complaints here. Fries were just under-cooked... put half of them to the side as they were yuck. Onion-rings were the most bland and flavor-less I've ever had. Kind of sad really. I might come back at some point one day, but I won't be in a hurry to do so.

We had a craving for a good ol' cookout milkshake tonight. My friend attempted to ask the drive-thru worker about the ingredients in one of the milkshakes, as she has an allergy. The worker gave a mega attitude in their response to her. When we got our milkshakes (peanut butter flavored), we noticed a strong vanilla taste throughout the majority of our shakes. This was unusual because we are used to a good mix of glopping peanut butter and chocolate. As we neared the bottom of the cup, we noticed that all of the good mixings of peanut butter were at the bottom. AN UNMIXED SHAKE!!!??? This is not what we signed up for. Give me my money back. $9 down the drain! Before this day, I could say that I'd never had a bad time while eating a milkshake. After this experience, I can truly say this is false.

I don't suggest that you stop at this business! I stopped at a location in south central Virginia a couple of years ago and the food was fantastic! I visited the location in Winchester VA today and this was a horrible experience. I ordered a double hamburger and my wife ordered a regular hamburger. Her single hamburger was larger than my double hamburger! The double Pattie's were smaller than the buns! The meat was dry and the experience was terrible. We will not recommend or return to this location. JD

Bad attitudes, slow service, mediocre food l, confusing menu and they recently closed the dining room probably so as not to have to pay for labor to manage it. Now every order is funneled through drive thu making for extremely long waits.

They have a dining room but it is take out only. No thanks. Just in the time it took me to type this I saw three different groups turn around and leave once getting to the inside door indicating take out only. Their loss.

Did a follow up visit with wife and we both enjoyed our fries and burgers. Service was good!

If I had to compare them to anyone it would be 5 Guys whose burgers are so much better. Overall we had expected a higher level of product based on word of mouth, what we got was mediocre at best. We almost never go to any of the other fast food burger restaurants and looks like we'll be adding this to our list of those to avoid. Mostly fried food and poorly prepared burgers. Plus the menu is very confusing at the drive through.

My family and I love this place. The shakes are delicious and thick and the food is great as well. You can't beat the value and the amount of choices you have for entrees and sides. There is no other fast food chain that allows you such a diversity. We will be coming here for a very long time.

I love, love Cookout!! I've only been to the ones in Tennessee but now there's one in Colonial Heights. The price is great and they have Cheerwine ya!! If you're not hip to it, try it out!

It's a newly opened place so they still have kinks to work out. Super busy, long line for drive thru but it went relatively quickly. The person who took our order mumbled quite badly to where numerous times nobody in the car knew what they said. Also there were long awkward pauses where we weren't sure if they were ready for the next order or if they were even still there. You can get a "tray" with a main, 2 sides, and a drink. The sides are small so the 2 sides are like the quantity of 1 side at other places but i appreciate the variety you can have. Burgers were ok. It legit tastes like what you would make in your own grill. Good for if it's too cold to grill yourself or you just don't feel like it. I'm interested to go back after they've settled in for another try.

First time trying cook out not from around town so decided to give it a try ! Drive thur had a pretty long line I waited pretty cool how you get two sides ! Combos comes with a large drink the tea was supper good ! Only problem I had was that when We gave the young lady my card she ended up not giving it back gave us the drinks first and food . I realized till I got home that my card was missing , Definitely recommended double checking for your card before you leave . Food was amazing burgers tasted good other then the cheese tasting like nacho chesse fries were great as well .

Love how affordable the food is and how yummy it is too! For $7 you can get a main course and 2 sides plus a soda! The food really taste like a cookout too! Loved how fast they were able to serve the food. I think I took longer ordering my food from all the choices they had. Love that they have so many shakes to choose from. Must try if you haven't! You get a bang for your buck for sure.

The food was pretty good, the line was fairly long but we were through the drive through pretty quick! The lady taking our order was extremely rude and tried to rush me through my order, so that was disappointing. But the man at the window was very nice! I'm excited to go back next time

We just stopped at this cookout for the first time even though I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews. Our hamburgers were probably the best hamburgers we've eaten in the last year or two. The onion rings and fries were hot and fresh and the peanut butter milkshake we ordered was delicious. Both the staff member who took my order and the staff member that checked us out were very polite. The line had five or six cars in it but moved extremely fast. I would highly recommend that you give this fast food restaurant to try if you haven't already! We will be back!
