Cooktown Hotel

we do like this hotel for a drink and a game of pool. seems to close early though, and no tap beer.

Booked accommodations (1 night) 3 months in advance. 5 days prior to arrival called for confirmation and could not get through as well as many other calls closer to the stay. Upon arrival at 6:30pm the pub was closed with people upstairs but no answer. We were left to sleep where ever we could fine. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Real Aussie pub experience. The food is good with ample helpings. The building is historic for the area, being 150 years old in 2024. Large outside area with plenty of shade. Pool table and online betting/ Keno also regular events and live music.The pub is dog friendly but be aware that the resident pub dog is definitely not other dog friendly, so check for his whereabouts before bringing your dog into the bar😉

Great place for a cold beer, and the Texas T-bone Steak was the best in North Queensland. You could of cut the steak with a spoon, so tender & tasty. I managed to finish it, but only just.

Comfy clean rooms and wonderful staff!!! Highly recommend

After a long drive it was a pleasure to have such a great meal. Never tried a squid 🦑 snitzel? Highly recommended comes with a prawn 🦐 garlic sauce. Well done kitchen crew together with the chef's son who took great care with service.

Very friendly staff that the bright and bubbly barmaid. And owner name is Michael his in the back ground. They have. Realy good pizzas. And food is great as well . There is a beer garden. And you can take your kids and if you got a dog. To the beer garden.

Rooms are very basic with shared facilities. Bed was comfy with clean linen. Kitchen and bathrooms very grotty. Staff very helpful. (Rip up dirty carpets, Karcher and paint everything...basic is fine if it's clean. Lots of potential but missing the mark.)
