On the Grid : Cool Beans Coffee Roasters

"On Mill Street, just one block west of Glover Park, you'll fine the hippest coffee shop on the Marietta Square. Cool Beans Coffee Roasters, an independently-owned, mirco-roaster/retailer, proudly roasts, grinds, brews and serves the world's finest coffee with their local touch to Marietta residents and visitors. If you're looking to find "that local coffee shop" with an open environment and unique feel, look no further. This eclectic coffee shop's walls are covered with local artists' work, while funky, vibrant music dances in the air as you read a book or type on your laptop. What's most impressive about this shop is the fire-engine red coffee bean roaster that constantly roasts buckets of beans in the middle of the shop every day. Even if you're don't consider yourself a coffee connoisseur, this is a must-see machine for even the biggest decaf drinkers. If a coffee shop environment is not for you, simply walk out the back door and enjoy your drink in the secluded Atherton Square just behind the building. Fall in love after your first sip? It certainly happens, and Cool Beans has got you covered. They sell their delicious beans and blends in store and online for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own home. Coffee is not just Cool Bean's business; it's their passion. And it shows in every drink their baristas prepare. No matter if you're looking for a regular cup of Joe or an iced concoction full of caffeine, Cool Beans will give you the refreshing java fix you need to keep you going." - Green Mellen Media

"Local Coffee Shop in Suburban Atlanta Local coffeeshops are becoming harder and harder to find in Atlanta 's suburbs, as evidenced by the chains popping up all around the Marietta Square. But Cool Beans Coffee Roasters has stood its "grounds" since opening in the 1990s. Cool Beans is the hub of the community, with a large group of regulars and locals coming in every morning as well as during the weekly open mic night. You can expect your coffee favorites at Cool Beans, like the cappuccino or espresso, which come from all over the world, so ask your barista for suggestions. They also carry assorted teas and pastries."

This local coffee shop has a charming, artsy vibe and a spacious layout that’s perfect for studying or catching up with friends. The staff is friendly and service is efficient. They roast their own beans right in-store, and the aroma alone is worth a visit. Highlights: ✔ Unique Local Flavor – The decor, art, and roasted beans give it a real community feel. ✔ Cozy Atmosphere – A lot of natural light and plenty of seating. ✔ Great Drink Selection – Solid coffee choices plus teas and smoothies. Minor Downsides: Some drinks are a bit on the sweeter side, so it’s worth customizing your order if you prefer it less sweet. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Definitely a nice spot for a relaxed coffee break or remote work session!

Right in the heart ❤️ of Marietta Square is Cool Beans 🫘 Coffee ☕️ Roasters. Not only do they roast their own beans here and have an extensive selection of high-quality coffee, but they also have a very comfortable restaurant with multiple seating areas and cool vibe. If that’s full, which it often is just outside the doors or multiple seats in a courtyard in a beautiful setting with murals and chill vibe. The coffee is high-quality and worth the price definitely a better experience than going to the Starbucks right next-door. Support local own businesses 🇺🇸 Easy to access from anywhere if you’re shopping and hanging out around the Square coffee shop is conveniently located right by the train tracks . They have public parking right next-door. 💯👏🏽🐺

From the moment you walk in, you just know — this place means serious coffee business. The vibe? Cool and inviting. The smell? Heaven. We ordered an iced latte and a smoothie called Tropical Sunshine (mango, peach, pineapple, apricot — yes, all that goodness in one cup). The coffee was very very nice, smooth but strong, and it totally woke me up in the best way. I loved it — like, instantly added to my top favorites. The smoothie? VERY VERY tasty. Like sipping sunshine. It was fresh, bright, and the fruity combo hit just right. This spot gets everything right. Great drinks, great vibes, and definitely worth coming back again and again. Cool Beans Coffee Roasters — you're my new go-to.

I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, and a delightful array of latte drinks. The back patio was a serene oasis to savor my creative concoctions. If you’re in the Marietta area and on the square, you owe it to yourself to stop in and experience the magic of this enchanting spot.#coffeecrawl

Great place to sit and work! They have a lot of local art around the shop which is awesome to see. There are plenty of seats and great lighting. The coffee is good and pastries look delicious. We will definitely be back again one day.

Google
I absolutely love this place! It has such a unique vibe, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Every holiday season, we come here to buy small bags of coffee as gifts. They offer them either as whole beans or pre-ground, and they even ask if it’s for a regular drip coffee maker or a Keurig, which shows an unmatched attention to detail. Sam was incredibly helpful and even guided me in choosing the perfect coffee for each person in my family. For 2 sampler packs (6 bags total), it was only $30—such an amazing deal! Sam even went the extra mile by writing the names and brewing styles of each coffee on the bags, which was such a thoughtful touch. Thank you, Sam! I 100% recommend this spot for your everyday coffee needs or for bagged coffee to take home. I’ve included a picture of all the different coffee options they offer, along with the prices and Sam’s detailed labeling!

First time. I had tea 🍵 😌 and the most yummiest snickers cheese cake 🎂 😋. Alot of options but that cheese cake was truly amazing. The funny part is I never liked cheesecake but this changed my perspective. I wish the bathroom wasn't so far down the hall 😕

Great location in Marietta. Love this coffee spot for working remotely during the week. Great coffee and tea too.

Yelp
COOL BEANS | there are very few coffee shops in Atlanta that allow dogs inside. I've had this one on my list for a while but I'm not usually in Marietta... so when I finally wandered into the area with pup in tow during the work week... I had to take a look. I ordered the nitro cold brew on tap. At the time of my visit it was very affordable: $3.54 for a 20oz. Definitely can't find that kind of price for nitro cold brew anymore these days... based on photos I'm seeing online, it looks like the price hasn't changed as of 10 months ago. It looks like quite a few dog owners like to stake out here for a couple hours at a time - I noticed one guy with a big ole generator to power up his computer and a big ole lazy dog sprawled out on the ground next to him (unfortunately I took no photos but it was amusing). Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area and looking for a dog friendly & affordable coffee shop!

Yelp
They had a nice Ayurvedic tea and plenty of seating! Located in Marietta Square. They also had some interesting smoothie options, I would be back

Yelp
I had a great experience! I was looking for a place with great chai and a great ambiance and this place totally hit the mark. There were lots of seating options where people could sit and chat or quietly do work. The service was great and I enjoyed my chai in their large outdoor seating area. I will be back very soon.

Yelp
I drove to the Marietta Square yesterday to pick up another pound of roasted beans from my new favorite coffee roaster. I am a bit of a coffee snob and have been buying my roasted beans from Mail order coffee roasters such as Intelligentsia in Chicago. I wanted to find a good local source and I have absolutely found a great one! This business sells coffee drinks and sells whole beans (or ground coffee) from a small retail store on Mill Street. Upon entry, there are numerous tables that were packed with coffee drinkers and Internet WiFi users on the afternoon of my visit. The order station is located towards the back left side of the business. There is a rack of bins containing all the roasted beans available for purchase on the back left wall. A label is affixed to each bin describing the origin and flavor profile for the coffee beans. Also a roasting date is written on the face of the bin. I reviewed the available coffee beans and selected a Costa Rican Geisha that is absolutely delicious. The kind young woman that took my order asked if I was a member of their coffee club and told me that a purchase of 1 pound or more included a free cup of their coffee of the day. I was pleased to find out that it was another bean from Costa Rica. The staff was super helpful and friendly. This is a great coffee shop that sells numerous varieties of whole bean coffee. This local business is a must try if you love coffee!

Yelp
This place is super cute for a grab and go coffee. Space is limited so it feels tight. The coffee was good and the service was timely.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
The coffee and tea options are plentiful and the space is quaint with nooks to work in and options inside and out back. The service was oddly split with the people at the counter cheery and attentive, but the girls stocking a Sam's run were both ridiculously miserable. The place is fine, nothing special nothing bad, BUT here is my issue. Sitting outside watching a teenager unload her car parked by the back door, not only did the gallons of milk sit in the July heat for 20 minutes in the car, the fridge that they were being put in had the door open the entire time. It's milk, in July sitting in the heat. For that reason, I don't trust returning.

Yelp
Great spot for working. Beautiful indoor and outdoor space. Really good coffee, too! Service was friendly and quick.
google avatar

Dale G.

Yelp
Chai latte was delicious. I like being to fill my own water glass and going back for more. Outside seating was lovely and happy for the option. Sitting inside was filled with folks quietly on their computers. Not conducive for those who want to have a coffee and chat. Way too quiet. It was like being in a library.
google avatar

Yelp
Coffee was phenomenal- the Madeline cookie flavor 10/10. Service was warm and kind. It was a busy place but didn't have to wait long.
google avatar

Schyler D.

Yelp
Awesome little shop. Tons of different drinks and a lot of customizability of those drinks too. And their bean selection is very impressive, so many different countries and roast types. I love how you can order any amount/weight, not just standard 12 or 16oz pre-packaged bags. The beans are very delicious which makes their drinks excellent too.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
Bean me up Scotty!! It was a hot summer day and we stopped for an ice coffee. The joint was packed so we were lucky enough to get a seat inside. Also the almond crescent was Amazing. There was out door seating too.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Such a cool environment, really lives up to the name. If it's a little crowded don't worry there is outdoor seating in the back. Coffee is great with so many different options to tailor to you. The staff were warm and very inviting.
google avatar

Jenna O.

Yelp
I love going into a coffee shop when they have the roaster right there on display. There's just something about coffee learning how it is made, that makes the experience better. The coffee itself was just fine, and the place is not the vibe for me personally. It did have tons of seating, but not comfortable or really the place I would want to hang out for a lot time. It seems like this place has a good pace and are pretty quick with getting people in and out, which is super helpful since they are right off the main square. It is a super walkable business, but parking could be difficult if it is a weekend or there is an event in the square. This isn't the place I would go to hang out or if I was looking for really good coffee, but I might stop in for a quick coffee if I had time to kill and I was walking in the square
google avatar

Cassandra G.

Yelp
The best frappe in the city!!! Literally this is one of my favorite frappes and coffee spots in Marietta! There's just a really good coffee flavor to the drinks that they serve here. I also like to frequent the crooked tree café because they brew in house cool beans coffee. Yum!!! Did I mention they're also pet friendly and have quite an array of local art for purchase? But literally the coffee's enough to get me in the door
google avatar

Madalyn J.

Yelp
Great coffee shop on the square! There is almost always a line, but it loves fast. They have great coffees and specialty drinks, and we love the selection of flavors. Their croissants are good too. There is a decent amount of seating inside, but it is usually pretty full when we go! We like to stop in and grab a coffee to walk around the farmers market with on Sundays. Parking on the square can be difficult if you go on the weekend as well- you will likely have to park in a paid lot!
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Service was great and the interactions with staff are pleasant (with a smile)! My drink came out fast and was the best Chai Tea Latte I've had, period. The vibe of the place is small and cozy but there's also a great, spacious outdoor area in the back that's very spread out and it was so fun watching the birds swooping around.

Yelp
Terrific place to get coffee near Marietta Square. Lots of tables to sit at, a great mixture of remote workers, students and people just meeting to catchup. Super courtyard outside - I deal when sun is shining. Cool Beans has a great friendly atmosphere and super baristas.
google avatar

Tyler B.

Yelp
A cute stop if wanting to try something other then Starbucks; they have a good variety of flavors. The atmosphere is cool, very boutique like, and some sweet treats are available if desiring. The seating area outside is limited, but pleasantly quiet and hidden from the Main Street. I recommend the butterscotch iced coffee (a medium is $4.50).
google avatar

Sepideh Z.

Yelp
Cute little coffeeshop in Marietta Square. The coffee itself was okay but not very hot which I prefer my coffee piping hot since it usually cools down quickly. The service was great and the staff was very friendly. There was seating inside as well as outside.
google avatar

Frederick D.

Yelp
After walking through Saturday's farmers market and the art stands across the street we were those people who stood in a line that wound itself outside of the front doors and were assured that it would move quickly, which it did. We enjoyed two large iced coffees and noshed on a delicious almond croissant. This place has a hip vibe with a coffee roaster prominently across from the barista bar. Coffee was great. Lots of seating inside and out. Tho it was a hot Georgia morning.
google avatar

Jessika B.

Yelp
This little coffee shop is on the corner in the Marietta Square area and if you pay cash they give you $.25 off per cup. I got myself the Mexican hot chocolate, which is delicious and my husband got the regular hot chocolate and it taste like dark chocolate soul sucking beauty. Service was great and I love the area that we got to sit in.
google avatar

Jess D.

Yelp
Oops on Veterans Day, as a vet I got skipped 3 times to see if they'd notice the first two times of me just standing there waiting. Only visiting here for a bit and was told this was the spot to go. Unfortunately I never got my drink, asked for a refund and they politely did so.

Yelp
This is my go-to local coffeeshop to do my college homework at. The interior is what first drew me in to this place. I love the way that it is set up and that they display and sell local artist's work on the walls! There is not too much seating inside, but they also have a large outdoor seating area out of the back door. I also found out about various events through checking out their cork board with a bunch of local event flyers in the back! Definitely check that out if you are looking for things to do around the Marietta area. My favorite drink to order from here is an Iced Chai Latte with oat milk. It is always the perfect level of sweetness for me and is never sweetened to the point of being undrinkable like some other places. The baristas are always friendly as well! The environment in this coffee shop truly is like no other around, it energizes me in a wonderful way, just sitting in there and observing everyone coming in and out! They are also very dog friendly!

Yelp
I usually avoid "the Square" bc parking is a mess. I was on the search for a place that I could buy fresh-roasted coffee beans for a gift. This place is really cute. The coffees are great (and next time, I'm gonna try the Mexican hot chocolate). What I like most - it does feel as big box and overdone like the "StarXXX" and the coffee is 1000x better. I also asked a million questions about the on-site-toasted beans. They even let me invade their barista space for a few mins to check out the labels and descriptions. (The staff were super friendly and very patient with me). I can't wait to try their custom roasts and hope my gift recipient loves them too. I had a small turnoff when I visited the girls room - it looks like all the shops on that street corner share a common public bathroom -- and it wasn't the best.

Ally ..

Yelp
The staff here tbh makes my work morning so much better . They are always very friendly. They give out amazing recommendations to try. There's inside and outside sitting areas.

Ken M.

Yelp
I decided to up my coffee game, i however didnt/dont know that much about different single origin coffees. The staff has been really helpful suggesting beans that i might enjoy and i really am starting to learn the flavor profiles of different beans. Excellent customer care!

Yelp
Cool beans is my favorite coffee shop around the Marietta area. Located in the historic down square, you can find this hip lil' coffee shop. In my past visits, I've seen tour guides drop in and talk about the roaster inside the shop. They have a cozy nook area that's modeled after the starry night painting by Van Gogh, you'll be lucky to snag that spot since it's typically occupied. It's a great place to have coffee meets/dates/friend dates. There's a lot of interesting things you can find here also; they sell art by locals and other cool knicknacks. The coffee is good, it's coffee. It's cool, cool beans. But the Mexican hot chocolate is something else, out of this world good. I recommend it for cold weather. Tip: be sure to ask for their punch card if you're a frequent visitor. After a number of visits and punches you get a free drink.

Ish S.

Yelp
Coffee is amazing here! And such a chill environment! Also service was absolutely amazing not a single complaint about this place will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
We went in on Saturday looking for some beans for our new coffee maker. We were hoping to purchase and try a couple of different kinds of brews before we committed to a bag. The gentleman at the counter said this was not possible, they they only had one type of bean brewing per day. He also explained that the brew they were selling that day was from the most expensive beans they had on offer. I ordered an iced coffee, and asked would this be from those beans, then? Nope, he answered; the iced coffee is a special, different roast. I have to say that it was delicious. We chose two half-pound bags, blindly, based on the barista's recommendation, but it really was not what we were hoping to achieve. With a whole wall of fresh beans on offer, I'd think there should be some way to try them. We will probably be back, the coffee is good, but perhaps consider what customers might be interested in.

Toby

Yelp
I love love love coming here! The coffee is always top tier and the service is always super quick! Lex always does such an amazing job of treating everyone kindly and staying on top of all the duties they constantly have. Sam and tiara are also consistently amazing! I will never stop coming here!

Rick V.

Yelp
Excellent coffee. Very nice owners. Very nice folks and chill atmosphere. At this point this place is a Marietta institution as much as the Big Chicken is.

Yelp
Nice little spot. Service was good. I'm a black coffee guy. I was pleased with the roast.

Yelp
I take a picture of literally everything but my actual drink. We normally do a drive by because the square is so crowded but today was super low in volume prob bc of Easter so yay for that. Altbough we didn't stay long bc we had things to do, the inside area is open for seating and so much outdoor space for hanging out. We had our first date here and we just got favors made for our wedding next weekend! We provided bags and labels and they filled/sealed them for us. We normally get the t man here so you can never sleep again but they have stronger and milder options too. They also sell cool local artwork & non coffee drinks/merch/baked items Staff is so pleasant and you actually see the same people when you come back Awesome coffee, and great vibe. Definitely check this place out for a date or a coffee run.. you never know, you might marry that person

Yelp
Kyle's Coffee Reviews. Unfortunately I discovered that Copper Coin was permanently closed today. Sad day, one of my favorites. None the less, I stopped by Cool Beans instead! Pumpkin Pie Latte - Mike hooked it up - Coffee: 8.9/10! Great taste, not too sweet! If anything it could use alittle cinnamon. Atmosphere: 8/10! Earthy yet Urban, several different rooms to choose from. All serving different settings to work in. Homey, and worth coming back!

Yelp

Yelp
Stop by here after strolling at Murrieta square. Love the set up and outdoor seating. Coffee was not the greatest but its okay.

Yelp
The coffee itself was okay. Nothing special ! I do want to give some grace and recognition to the staff. Line out the door and just two people working. Spacious environment Well definitely give another shot to them!

Yelp
Went on a very busy Black Friday afternoon and was so impressed with the two baristas! The line was out the door and they were amazingly efficient, kind, and easy going. All the other coffee shops seemingly closed early. I ordered 2 oat milk lattes (extra credit for having 3 non-dairy options: oat, almond & soy). One with vanilla and one with toffee crunch. They had a TON of flavor options! There were so many I wanted to try (pistachio, peppermint, elderflower, salted caramel, the list goes on). The barista who took my order also took the time out to compliment my nails Ambiance was cool. Many people studying or on little chats with peers. Lots of local art hanging on the walls to purchase. Will definitely go again.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Very welcoming. The ham and cheese croissant was yummy and I ordered the 8-Ball with toffee flavor added which was delicious too. The cookie on the side was quite crunchy which I why I gave 4 stars.

Yelp
I have been coming to this coffee shop since I lived in the area (6 years ago) and it is still my go to place every time I'm in town. It is not your generic "Starbucks"...NO! This is a true coffee place for coffee lovers and coffee aficionados alike. I'm super picky about coffee, so much that I have an espresso machine at home because the coffee shop in my area does not know what good coffee is.... However, the people at cool beans know how to prepare a good cup of Joe. They roast their own beans and have quite a selection. To be honest this place is the only place I like to get coffee at in Atlanta ...I have tried several other places......they do not come close to this place. So, don't think about it and go visit the nice people at CoolBeans....life is too short to drink bad coffee!
google avatar

Calbin L.

Yelp
Cool Beans Coffee is a good spot to chill and pickup interesting coffee mugs. The service was good though the inside seating is very limited. The coffee was just above average.

Claire D.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop! Lots of personality with great coffee. Staff was fun and knowledgeable!

Yelp
This place reminds me of true coffee shops in the PNW before Starbucks and gentrified sterile outlets ...not that there's anything wrong with that ;-). CB is easy to miss...located on Mill St., where the weekend FM is held, next to an ice cone shop! ++ Ambiance is small unpretentious funky cool vibe. Both sides of entrance sitting cubbyholes have fun painted murals. Inside is an open rustic space... several large tables for working and socializing on the right and the ordering station to the left. Opposite the Mill St. entrance, their rear door opens to a chill court yard with several self-service café tables. ++ Coffee, teas, pastries and beans are to be found here. I've had drip and macchiato and they were verrRy drinKable! Unfortunately, they don't have MY nitro that I'm hunting for in A-town. (They do have nitro). If you prefer frou frou kinds, they have those as well. Also, CB is a ROASTER and their beans are in dispensers to the right of the counter. They have a decent selection, I think at least 20 and each bin is labeled including the date of roasting! My friend got some fresh roasted Guatemalan that they ground up for her liking. Food-wise, they serve croissants, macrons, protein bars that are sold by Pete at local FMs. They also sell limited coffee gadgets. It's a good place to get a pick me up when I visit the weekend FM and the Marietta Square. ++ Price is average for the area. ++ Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. + Parking is street and lots. Overall, what you can get at CB is a very decent cup of joe made by friendly staff in a fun down to earth true coffee shop!

Yelp
I'm working my way through a Mental Floss list of best coffee roasters in each state. When a trip to Atlanta came up, I immediately checked to see how far away Cool Beans Coffee Roasters in Marietta was. I was ecstatic to find out it wasn't very far. Cool Beans is located in Marietta Square, a cute collection of local stores, restaurants and entertainment venues surrounding a park. The first thing I noticed when entering the shop was their huge red coffee roaster which they've named Big Red. It was just hanging out in the middle of the shop for everyone to see. This is not normal, most places keep their roaster tucked away in some back room, not right in the middle of the shop. The coffee geek in me immediately headed over to check Big Red out. After my roaster exploration, I got down to the business at hand. What should I order? I started with my go to, a latte with nut milk, and my wife's, a mocha. I added on a chocolate muffin for my daughter. I wanted to take home some beans for my aunt and myself. Unlike other coffee shops that have beans prebagged and sitting on a shelf, Cool Beans has over a dozen plastic bins of different roasts tucked to the right of their bar. They don't measure out and bag a pound of beans until after you order it. I found this approach a bit overwhelming, so much to consider, but the barista took the taste profile I described for both me and my aunt and offered up some recommendations. After everything was paid, I went to find my family. They were seated in a little "private" room to the left of the entrance. It had a small counter (the perfect size for my kids) and was painted like the famous Starry Night painting. My kids loved sitting in their own private space. There was another "private" room on the other side of the business entrance. The rest of Cool Beans is filled with your typical cafe style seating: bar spots, window seats, two and four seated tables. About that coffee. Loved the latte, one of my favorites. It had the perfect balance of nut milk and espresso. Not too sweet, not too milky. My wife found her mocha to be just "ok". The real win of our visit was the beans I took home. Outside of a roast I got from New York, these have been my favorite beans. They are very flavorful and help me make a mean (and sophisticated) cup of coffee. If you love coffee and find yourself in Atlanta (or Marietta) do yourself a favor and give Cool Beans a visit.

Yelp
Always enjoy coming here. Prices are reasonable, in a great location with good parking nearby. Baristas are always friendly and I always enjoy my lattes. Sometimes seating is hard to find in the mornings because it's so busy. Outdoor seating is great during the warmer months. Great hours for studying into the evening. Cool merch available for sale.
