I found myself at their Hostel doors one night with the clothes on my back and 3 bags. Not only were the staff on that night so helpful, kind and caring but over the time I was there I can honestly say every single staff member was outstanding especially Stacy and Cat. Nothing was too much trouble, always checking in if they saw me, offering hope or just hugs sometimes. I thought it was amazing how they juggle 2 bars, a restaurant, bottle shop and a thriving Hostel upstairs, always a smile and trying their best to accommodate all types of people and their personalities. Well done it's not easy doing that. Come for the Hostel's Queenslander Verandah sunsets, and literally 3 mins walk to the beach bars shopping centre. I will treasure every memory made at the Cooly Sands! Thank you is not enough.

Shout to Stacey and the girls and the Sands in Cooly. Always kind, friendly and professional 😊 An Iconic Pub, in a great location with icy cold beers….. Priceless ✅💪🏽 See ya next time we’re in town 💯

My 19 young old brother has just flown from the UK to the Gold Coast and they have REFUSED him entry. His flight was delayed, he pre paid his stay for the week and they wouldn’t organise someone to let him in past 10pm so he was forced to sleep on the street . Absolutely diabolical customer service from a hotel. You’re not a petrol station - do better . AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID

The bar: over $20 for 1 schooner & a can of ginger beer (not impressed) The food: my Senior’s calamari lunch was excellent! Partner’s veg nachos had ample cheese, the guacamole & sour cream was adequate, but lacking in quantity of diced tomatoes The twin room & facilities: It’s all run like a well organised YHA for budget conscious travellers. The shared balconies are expansive but there’s no clear delineation of outside furniture to sit on; i.e.. our next door neighbours had their items flung over everything as if to say ‘this is ours so don’t think about it’. So when we did go out on the balcony, we had to go through the kitchen (clean & tidy) to access the furniture out there. The bathrooms are very clean. Very good overall for a budget friendly place to stay in Coolangatta.

I booked low budget female dorm. This did exactly what I needed. Sleep and a safe place. The restaurant was awesome! I would book again. Not sure I would during peak summer though due to lack of a/c. But I have really enjoyed my stay and the staff running everything. Thank you from new zealand

Yelp
This was basically one of those pubs where the really bad service was at the door. Yep, that's right, this is another one of those pubs that has a rather hot headed bouncer, and even though I actually got inside, I was sort of shaking my head as because this is certainly not one of those places that you would need such a bouncer. Well, okay, maybe it does happen to be because it is Coolangatta, but honestly, this pub, yeah, it really isn't that great at all. Anyway, there were certainly much better pubs in the area, and much better, and friendlier, bouncers as well.

Yelp
Certainly an inn/hostel, rather than a hotel in a more formal sense, Coolangatta Sands isn't bad, but is a bit pricey for what you get. Rooms are a bed only, with only a few communal toilet/shower combos for the whole place. The crowd I ran into were mostly pleasant backpackers from around the world. My bed was clean, with a comfortable IKEA mattress, and the room was clean enough, about average by hostel standards, and a bit less good if judging as a Motel. The air conditioning was broken in my room, and the light dim, but everything else was in good condition, and the communal kitchen was kept clean. Downstairs is a lively bar and sports tab that seems like one of the choice spots in town for a Saturday night. In all, Sands was a decent spot to spend a night.

Yelp
Clean and well kept. The food has been excellent and the staff is courteous and attentive. The specials are a great value. I think they constantly change but I had a chicken parmy that was perfect. Their portions are large and the food comes out quick. If you like wedges I believe they have the best wedges in town, ask for extra chili sauce because that is fantastic as well.

Yelp
I dropped in here a number of times for a couple of drinks and a nice feed a few years ago. There was always some pretty good live music going in the evening. The place had a lot of energy.

Yelp
Used a buy one get one free voucher and tried the Chicken Parmy and the Fisherman's basket. (Normally $22 and $20 each) This place also has $10 meals. Drinks were a bit pricy, at $4 each for a Coke and Lemon, Lime and bitters. The meals were a really decent size and the calamari was the absolute best I have ever tasted. It was so soft and obviously fresh. We will be back!

Yelp
Great prices for a lovely selection of classics from the bistro. There are regular weekly specials as well.
