The Best Walking Tours in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"When I needed a break from centuries-old landmarks, Cool Tour Spain offered engaging street art tours around the multicultural Lavapiés area, plus walks that focus on architecture, feminism, and contemporary art — a great contemporary complement to the historic side of Madrid." - Matthew Kepnes

🚶‍♀️🎨 A Must-Do for Street Art Lovers in Madrid! We run Mural Ride Bike Tours in San Antonio, Texas, so believe us when we say—we live and breathe street art. This walking tour through Lavapiés and the surrounding neighborhoods was 🔥. The guide broke down the history of Madrid’s mural scene, gave us the inside scoop on local street art festivals, and even schooled us on the real difference between graffiti and street art (it’s more than just vibes and spray cans). You could feel the passion radiating from our guide—someone who’s clearly rooted in the culture and not just reciting from a script. The art? Stunning. The stories behind it? Even better. 💡 Pro tip: Bring water. We went in July and by noon it was already 32°C (aka “very toasty”). That said, the walking was totally manageable. We’re already plotting a return to see more neighborhoods. And yes—we’ll be sending our San Antonio guests this way when they land in Madrid. Can’t recommend it enough! 🖌️💥 #StreetArtMadrid #SupportLocalTours #MuralRideApproved

It was my first street art guided tour and it was fantastic! We visited two neighborhood of Madrid: Lavapies and Embajadores. I loved understand how street art transmit ideas and diferent cultures. Santiago was our guide and has a lot of knowledge about street art, all the tour was amusing and interactive. The visit was well organized, started at time and I had enough time to take photos. At the end of the tour we practiced making graffitis, painting shirts and totem bags and that was amazing. I hope that Cooltourspain could organize this kind of tours in other places of Madrid. I recommend this tour 100%!.

I'm a travel agent, and the worst client any tour guide can have. But, I must say that our family experience with Javier has been an amazing one. We have experienced the charm and feel of the city that we would have completely missed had it not been for Cool Tours. Javier was very engaging with my two children while showing them amazing street art, he talked about history, walked us thru neighborhoods we would have otherwise missed, and showed us secret food places ... Graffiti workshop was a cherry on top. No other tour guide in Spain could have filled his shoes in my kids' eyes. If you are traveling with teenagers, Javier's tour of Madrid is a must! Thank you!

Fab Malasaña tour with guide Yago, discovering various pieces of street art and their meaning. This was followed by a workshop with Aida, where we learned about spray painting and made our own ‘art work’. Highly recommended.

We had such a great afternoon with Javier exploring street art in Lavapies. Javier has the best knowledge about the area as well as the artists and our group loved learning about this vibrant urban culture. We stopped for drinks and chatted about what we had seen and ended in a park creating our own pieces which was so much fun and a great surprise for our bride to be when Javier pulled out a stencil of her face for us to spray paint. We loved it and it was certainly a highlight of our weekend. Highly recommend!
