The Five-Stop Shopping Guide to Oaxaca, Mexico

"In town, your best one-stop shop is Colectivo 1050, a socially conscious boutique just a few blocks from the main square that offers a curated selection of both types of pottery. (Plus, they take credit cards and ship directly to the U.S.)"

5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So happy I finally got to visit! Picked up six beautiful pieces—such a wonderful place, and I love supporting small businesses and female artisans. Great prices, but heads up—mosquitos were out for me, so bring bug spray! Grateful for this space and the amazing team.

I loved this pottery store! I have been doing pottery for about three years and the pieces here were so well-made and felt so authentic. Great functional work, and not like the touristy spots in the busier part of the city. The staff were great, walked me through the different regions of where the different types of pottery came from, talked about the making/firing process, etc. I even went back the next day because I was close by and couldn't not stop in. Go here, you will be moved!

I saw a review here about flags so when I was in Oaxaca I went specifically to this store to make a purchase and show my support. Thank you. Good quality products at fair prices.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I’VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was so unbelievably terrible, I can’t stay quiet. I spent $450 in this store, carefully choosing items to bring back home. To make sure everything arrived safely, I carried them by hand through airports rather than risk putting them in a suitcase. Despite all that effort, two bowls — $20 each — arrived completely shattered. Why? Because the associate I handed them to for packing threw the two most fragile bowls at the bottom of the bag and stacked four heavy bowls right on top. When I reached out to customer service — politely, mind you — I simply asked if they could replace the broken items or offer a refund. The response I got was not only dismissive, it was downright insulting. I’ve worked in customer service, and I would’ve never dreamed of speaking to a customer like that. Basic human decency would’ve told you not to send something so condescending. And to Pablo, who replied to me: What the hell is wrong with you? If the answer is no, fine — but the attitude? The tone? Totally unacceptable. You don’t get to talk down to people who supported your business. That email reeked of arrogance and zero accountability. I will never be shopping here again.

A treasure trove of beautiful and functional pieces of Oaxacan handcrafted ceramics. Unique items, well priced.

They're clueless about the situation between Israel and the Arabic population in Gaza yet they place flags and posters about it. Ignorance doesn't justify letting Jewish and Israeli feel unwelcome. This flag represents violance against the Jewish people. Sad to see this happening in Oaxaca. Study, learn, read, talk to both sides, and then decide. What a shame.

I bought three of four ceramic cups here. The shop is accessible and makes great ceramics. I will probably find a way to change my cutlery to their stuff too. Their Instagram is a great teaser but being able to feel their stuff was even better.

Coop ceramic store supporting 60 villages in Oaxaca of which half there is only one potter left. Great pottery at good prices. Don’t miss the books on the book shelf. Go next door for great coffee. Don’t miss it.
