"The Copenhagen Admiral Hotel began its life as an 18th-century warehouse on the Copenhagen waterfront, before being turned into a maritime-themed hotel in the 1970s. With the royal family’s Amalienborg Palace on one side, the lively and picturesque Nyhavn canal on the other, and the Copenhagen Opera House across the water, the hotel couldn’t be better placed for feeling like you’re in the heart of Copenhagen’s sights. Historic tall ships regularly dock out front, and, when the sun comes out, locals and guests alike spill onto the waterfront patio for a Carlsberg beer. Inside, the hotel feels quintessentially Scandinavian, with exposed beams and a blue-green color palette. The acclaimed SALT restaurant puts a modern spin on traditional Scandinavian cuisine with inspiration from local, raw produce and French cuisine."

This is one of the loveliest hotels we have stayed in. Beds were ridiculously comfortable. Loved the pillows! We chose the option without breakfast and there were plenty of lovely spots for coffee and breakfast nearby. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it was excellent, one of our favourite meals in Copenhagen. The location is perfect. It is very quiet but an easy walk to all the sites. There is construction work going on at the hotel but we heard nothing. They do not work weekends and works commence at 9-5pm. The rooms are insulated so again, the space is very quiet. The staff were super helpful and had some great sightseeing advice.

The hotel is beautiful and in the process of further construction, but they do an excellent job of keeping that separate so as not to disturb guests. We wouldn’t even have known if they hadn’t told us. ||We were in room 546, which was adequate and nice overall. The beds are made in the Scandinavian style with 2 duvets, which is interesting.||Pros: the room is small but well organized with plenty of space to move luggage out of the way & hang clothes for a few days. The bathroom counter is big. The towels were luxurious and we were each provided with a bath robe as well. The toiletries were very good. The view was very nice overall the water. The blackout curtains were excellent. We were able to easily borrow an umbrella when it rained. ||Cons: The window was extremely difficult to open and close, and the room gets very stuffy. We weren’t able to get the air conditioner to turn on. The area around the water is a gathering place late into the night and was very loud since we had to leave the window open so as not to overheat. There is no shower door, so the entire bathroom gets very wet when taking a shower, no matter how careful you are.

Stayed at the Admiral for a family vacation in june. Service was excellent. The staff took our suitcases before we were even out of our Uber. Check in and out was smooth. Location of the hotel was excellent. Right on the water at the kissing steps and short walks to everything. Bed was comfortable and room clean and reasonably sized. Shout out to Louis who helped us with Tivoli Gardens. Would definitely stay here again

We truly loved the room. Not only were we well taken care of by the receptionist, but we also were upgraded for free with a view over the water. The breakfast was wonderful both days, with everything my wife and I could wish for. Allergies—no problem. They took care of everything. I also celebrated my 50th birthday at their lovely restaurant, Ray Ray. The waiter, the guy with the cool tattoos, was truly professional. He didn’t give up until he knew exactly everything about my wife’s allergies and that she is also vegetarian. Once we were sure we understood each other, we started talking about champagne and wine. The food and drinks were a perfect 10. Everything was incredibly delicious. I also received Danish flags on the table—a pretty fun detail for a Swede :) I’m attaching a view from the room and the restaurant. Thank you for a lovely weekend! We will be back.||Best regards,|Peter

Perfect location, very beautiful hotel. We enjoyed our stay! The sauna with the view on the Opera is great. Clean, quiet, and very cozy. Despite the size it gives the feeling of an intimate place. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Copenhagen.

The Admiral location is pretty ideal— walking distance to tons of restaurants, two metro stops, and shopping. The view of the harbor is gorgeous. I’ve stayed here several times, but it seems they put all their effort into the remodel and missed in other areas. Remodel is pretty, but the restaurant food is still mediocre at best (including the breakfast which is sorely lacking despite the ads in the elevator claiming how great it is!) Blackout curtains don’t work. Our room was fully lit by 5:30 am. Air conditioning didn’t work and after we called the desk, they brought a fan, which didn’t help. There are fridges in the rooms but they are so packed with minibar items that there’s no room for anything else (and if you move items, it alerts their systems and you get charged even if you don’t consume them.) uncomfortable pillows and itchy new bedding. I really want to love this historic hotel, but it is not a comfortable place to stay and sleeping was difficult.

Beautiful cozy hotel in the heart of Nyhavn! This charming hotel is perfectly located just 150 meters from the iconic Nyhavn canal and an equal distance from Amalienborg Palace on the other side. It’s surrounded by excellent eateries and must-try local bakeries — ideal for anyone who loves to explore on foot or by bike. The rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed, with a cozy ambiance that reflects classic Scandinavian style throughout the property. Service was warm and helpful when needed. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Copenhagen who wants a stylish, well-located place to stay with a local vibe. Renting a Lime or Donkey bike makes getting around the city a breeze!

Clean rooms, decent location and good staff. Didn’t feel like a 5* and quite pricy. Location is 10 mins away by walk from the Kongens Nytorv metro station. Plenty of taxis available outside the hotel as well. Bathroom had an interesting Bluetooth speaking which could be used to play audio while you’re in there. Not sure what the building was prior to being a hotel, it has wooden columns and beams passing through and vault like hallways. Our room had a small window overlooking the dock which was quite nice. Beds were comfortable. Overall good stay. Staff was quite responsive late at night as well with slipper requests. It would’ve been nice if they kept dental kits, room slippers etc before hand in the room. They did charge us a 1000 DKK per night as a refundable security deposit which was quite hefty. Room walls seemed pretty thin, we were watching Tv in our room and there was a complain from a neighbouring room regarding the sound. Be prepared to drink water from the bathroom tap, or carry your own. One other thing, while the bathroom shower is nice, it has only half a glass partition and at the same level as the toilet floor, so the toilet area can get quite wet while taking a shower.

Yelp
Admiral hotel Has experience guest receptionists and personnel. Besides, their fabulous service they provide you with residence preferred locations and attractions suggestions. 24/7 5-starts attitude, modern architecture and well prepared breakfast items. My only suggestion would be to create a variety of breakfast options, as they serve the same items every morning.

Yelp
The hotel is conveniently located near points of interest like the Nyvan and walking distance to the SMK and The Little Mermaid, And Amalienborg. There is also the bus 66 that stops right next to the hotel and you can take that to Tivoli. The building was an old warehouse and it is right along the water. There are exposed beams on the ceiling and is very pretty. I cannot comment on the staff as we didn't interact with them because we just came and went during the three days stay there. I would just comment that for the price I would think the furniture would be more updated. I would stay here again because of the location.

Yelp
The pros: in a charming part of town, decent price, comfortable bed, good toiletries, cool art on room walls. Cons: needs a remodel, which is underway (but makes it a little noisy). Hallways are poky and small, rooms are a little cramped, and no air conditioning. Breakfast is good but a little pricey at about $25 dollars a person.

Yelp
I booked this hotel because it was supposed to be in a beautiful location (Nyhavn) and one of the oldest and grandest hotels in this area. They have a lot of unique features because of their history and the lobby is certainly beautiful. However ... that's where it all ends. The rooms themselves are smelly. They literally smell like old, sour gum. I am not sure how I came up with that but that's what old sour gum would smell like! The rooms are also awkward, small, have random beams in the middle that disrupt the space, and not very updated. The bedding is rough, and the whole thing is just ok. For how much I paid this was most definitely not worth it. The whole place was just outdated and musky. I didn't really see any good that came out of this. I would definitely come back for the lobby, the lobby bar, and even the hotel restaurant because the first floor is just gorgeous, old ambiance and rustic wood ... but don't stay here!

Yelp
This is an old storage house turned into a luxury hotel. The ambience is fantastic with rustic wood logs exposed throughout the hotel. The front desk is very friendly and professional. The hotel elevators and slow and somewhat flaky. Clearly in need of an upgrade. The rooms are small but with modern / high end Danish furniture. The rooms have no AC so it can be stuffy in a humid summer month. The bathrooms are somewhat dated, but of OK quality. The warm water lines were broken the day I arrived and it took them 5-6 hours to fix the water. On the third day the warm water was shutoff 10-2 for maintenance. Far from ideal for a luxury hotel. The hotel has free wifi and it is of decent speed. The breakfast buffet is another 145kr / $26 per person. The buffet is OK but not too extravagant. You get your normal eggs, bacon, bread, cut meat, cheese, so it could be much worse. Given the lack of AC, and the water problems we are likely to stay elsewhere next time we are in town.

Yelp
Perfect location. The staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean and tidy, though relatively small. Be sure to get one facing the seaside. The breakfast was phenomenal and had a delicious local touch.

Yelp
Probably Copenhagen's most unique high-end hotel. Built in a 18th century grain storage building, right on the harbor of Copenhagen, it highlights its classic architecture proudly, with thick brick walls, exposed rafts, and much more. The rooms are not the largest for the class, but they do have a lovely ambiance. Have stayed in both the standard room and the junior suite, both are nice, the suites a bit bigger, and in one-and-a-half stories, with bathroom, living area, and TV in "ground" floor, and the bed above the bathroom, accessed by a stair leading up in a very dramatical way. Beds are large, and very comfortable. Bathroom products are nice, and the junior suite has a bathtub in addition to the shower. The information available in the room includes suggestions for running routes in the area, all of them following the harbour, and taking you to various sights. Haven't actually eaten here, as I've used Copenhagen's many cullinary options instead, but have had drinks in the bar, and it is very well assorted, and staffed by friendly and competent staff. Location of the hotel is perfect, with all of the city within walking distance. Do note that the harbour area has increasingly become an entertainment area, so there can be quite a bit of party sounds outside in warm weather, and as the hotel rooms do not have A/C, you may need to have the windows open at night. Minor annoyance, and the hotel does have complimentary earplugs. All staff is helpful and friendly, and this is one of my favourite hotels in Copenhagen.

Yelp
We thought we lucked out by having a water front room with a step-out balcony, and in some ways we did because it was beautiful to wake up to the sun reflecting off of the water. Unfortunately, our room (#202) was also located above the outdoor tables for the restaurant, so whenever we opened the door we were immediately met with clouds of cigarette smoke. Being an old, historic building, there is no air conditioning in the room. At night, we left the door open to get some air, but the smoke and the noise made it somewhat uncomfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful and seems enormous. The location is very central. We arrived in a taxi from the airport in about 20 minutes. Check in was easy and efficient. Our room was large enough, though I wouldn't call it spacious. The room itself was charming because of the view and the wooden beams, but the furniture, décor, and carpet were extremely dated and tired, as was the bathroom, which looks like it was last renovated in 1980. Still, the hotel was clean, had good water pressure, comfortable pillows, and reliable wifi. We were running late one morning and asked if the breakfast buffet was still open; we were told yes and sat down. No sooner did we put from fruit on our plate than the buffet began to be packed up around us. Before taking away the hot items, the staff did ask us if we wanted anything else, but our (50 euro) breakfast was spent listening to the banging of dishes being stacked and tables and chairs being moved around us. Overall, the location of this hotel is its strength. However, for nearly $400/night, I would explore other options. I can only imagine that this hotel is unbearable during the summer months.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel. Nice high ceilings and ancient wood beams. Comfortable and beautiful furnishings in my room. Large modern HD flatpanel samsung TV with HD channels. Some minor problems: by bathroom was not perfectly clean, and as other reviews have reported the walls seem strangely "thin" which is odd, since they have 18" wooden beams suggesting very thick walls. Perhaps no insulation. Lots of noise from rooms above, and to the sides. I love that the room has a huge glass door that I can open all the way to a tiny railing. Its not a full balcony or anything I can step out on, but at least I can lean out and see some more of the city. nice views.

Yelp
Three star hotel with perfect location! Right on the water and a short walk to shopping and dining. Restaurant and breakfast buffet are expensive and mediocre.maids failed to clean my room 2 out of5 days by 5 pm! No bellboys to help with luggage. Rooms adequate, long narrow hallways as the building was a warehouse. Bed was comfy, but strange large wooden beams at head height. Glad I didn't hit my head!

Yelp
Walls are paper thin. You will hear everything your neighbors are doing and saying as if they were in the same room with you. If that's ok, then the rest will be fine. Cool building repurposed into a hotel. Nice enough bar. Great location on the water and near Nyhavn. However, I refer you back to the first paragraph of this review.
google avatar

Sandra O.

Yelp
Nice hotel, location really good, just down by Nyhavn and really short walking downtown to Stroget or some nice gardens to hangout in. The rooms are big and cosy and clean.
google avatar

Diego R.

Yelp
Small outdated rooms, thin walls - you can hear your neighbors snoring and having sex. You can hear the base from the bar or a neighboring venue. Don't bother with this place. Horrible.

Yelp
where are my slippers? he only time i really thought i needed them and none were supplied. actually if you needed amenities there was a machine downstairs that you feed coins to and it gives you a shaver or a toothbrush etc. if you could get over the musky smell of the place then its quite comfortable. the heating isnt very good but its an old place. breakfast is a absolute rip off so walk 2 mins that way and youll get it for a 3rd of the price. ask for a room away from the front of the hotel as there is a taxi stand there and the drivers get out and yap to each other and play their music all night long

Yelp
Our stay here was perfect. The staff were all friendly and professional. We loved the room and the view of the harbor and the Opera House from the small balcony. The room was clean and the amenities were lovely. Be sure to have breakfast in the hotel. I've never seen such a wide variety of choices and everything I tried was delicious, worth every penny. I also recommend having dinner at SALT. It was a culinary experience with unique combinations of flavors that worked perfectly with the wine pairings. The location is perfect as well, everything we wanted to see and do was within walking distance and the metro is nearby. We highly recommend staying at this hotel. After reading some of the other reviews with negative comments, I didn't have any of the same experiences. The room was very nice, clean and well sized for a hotel in Denmark (or Sweden). We were there during a heat wave but the room was a comfortable temperature even without air conditioning. We left the balcony doors open and the hotel provided a floor fan which was more than adequate. Our room was very quiet, no noise from neighbors or from the hallways. We hope to have an opportunity to stay here again.

Yelp
Great location, cozy rooms (albeit maybe a bit on the small side), clean and friendly staff.

Yelp
I stayed at the Admiral last September. The location is convenient to sight-seeing and the room was adequate, but one night there was a wedding reception that played extremely loud music very late into the night that made sleeping extremely difficult. Our room was simply not far enough away from the party one floor below us. I've always felt that a hotel has to make providing a restful night of sleep the utmost priority for its paying guests. I wouldn't stay here again because the priority was instead given to the late night party.
google avatar

Leslie R.

Yelp
Lovely hotel, if a bit of a tourist (and tour bus) magnet. Hey, I may be a tourist in Copenhagen but that doesn't mean I want to deal with loads of them! I didn't have a problem with thin walls, though on the first floor, there was a lot of noise from the terrace dining area below. The service was quite polished and warm, and the location is convenient. The bed could have been more comfortable, and I can't fathom how a hotel has a down comforter AND wool blanket on the bed in June.

Yelp
Really nice. In front of the sea , clean rooms in an unique atmosphere ( the building is an old silos) . In the center of the city, a little bit expensive but like everything here in Copenaghen !!

Yelp
Old hotel but great staff. Rooms are spacious but need more air circulation. Very close to city centre so everything is a short walk away.
