Copenhagen Distillery

The distillation workshop is fantastic and an incredible bargain. I had such a great experience with Johan, learning the basics of distillation of gin and aquavit, and trying some of the distillery’s spirits. After that you choose up to six herbs or spices (from at least 40 options) and distill your own spirit! I left with a 500ml bottle of my own creation (a cardamom and caraway spirit). This experience is unlike anything I’ve seen at any other distillery and a super fun evening. I can’t recommend it more highly. Johan himself was knowledgeable and took great pride in the craft and was a great teacher. If you’re on the fence, do it. I will remember this for the rest of my life.

Great tour and tasting experience - recommend visiting or just getting a drink!

Highly recommend visiting. They have a fun and engaging staff, eager to share the background and nuances of their products. We were lucky enough to go when they weren't too busy and had the opportunity to chat with the staff. It was a fun afternoon, filled with stories and the gin, whisky, and aquavit is delicious too! We sampled each item. The raw edition whisky was our favorite.

Tried the Cocktail Course. Overall, it was a good and fun experience but a few things pulled me down to 4 stars; we were about 15 people at the same time which was a bit too many - too much waiting time and less attention from the teacher. We made classic cocktails, but using their own spirits, which meant restricted to gin and aquavit. Didn't learn much general knowledge about cocktails, but rather more specific stuff related to the three cocktails we made. Would have loved to learn more about the difference between glass shapes, stirring methods, usage of ice etc. Otherwise really good.

I bought a cocktail course with some friends and I can highly recommend the experience. You will learn how to prepare 3 cocktails, but you will also get a welcome drink. During the course you will learn the best practice on how-to prepare a cocktail, history, tips and myths explanations about cocktails. Great experience and place! Definitely coming back.

As a non-drinker I still thoroughly enjoyed myself, and learnt so much about akvavit destilling! The Danish smørrebrød, complemented by three different types of akvavit, were excellent. Before I left, I also purchased a bottle of the RAW whisky. Cool cube bottle too.

Easily a 5*, and definitely worth it. We booked the cocktail making course, which was a very nice experience. Everything was on time, well organized, and value for money. The drinks they produce are very nice, resulting into very pleasant cocktails throughout the course. The staff that walked us through the night were super professional and nice. The place itself is very well organized, with great atmosphere, with lots of personal space for the guests. We reached the place by bikes, but there is also a bus that brings right around the corner.

The entire experience blew our minds. So...I'm not sure where to begin. Let's start with the spirits and cocktails which are phenomenal! Both are truly special and meticulous in the best, geeky sort of way. The processes and flavors of their spirit and cocktail recipes are so unique, creative and logical once you take a sip. Nothing pretentious going on here, but definitely purposeful and intentional in the best ways. The menu changes seasonally, but they are going to start a blog with collective recipes, so the world is lucky. The place!! It is evident that so much detail and thought went into the entirety of this beautiful distillery. The sleek and smart architecture is truly remarkable; creating an inviting and perfect space for so many different use cases - from sipping spirits or cocktails at the bar to enjoying concerts, to an intimate private event and more. The more you take in your surroundings, the more you see how each decision was carefully made. Yet it's so unassuming. It's like one of the most beautiful faces you've ever seen with no make up on and not a care in the world. You're in awe and humbled. I realize this is a distillery, bar, venue I am writing about so you may think I'm being a bit over the top. But appreciate every detail of this place so much. If you are Copenhagen, you need to go here. Once you meet the team, and you are lucky enough like us to see the world through their lens and shaker, you will get it. Trust. Really, you just need to go there and try it.
