This restaurant may be small, but it has a lively and energetic atmosphere. We had a great time enjoying our drinks and dinner. The service was excellent, and the food exceeded our expectations in both taste and quality. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was outstanding, though the portion size felt a bit small for the price. The Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap was delicious—reminiscent of a gyro wrap—with a flavor that truly stood out. Overall, it's a great spot to hang out, relax, and enjoy good food and drinks. Highly recommended for a casual evening out.

Google
Not what we expected but very pleasantly surprised. It’s a small bar with good food. The BLT wrap has a ton of bacon and a nice dressing that keeps it from being dry. Sweet potato fries were delicious and creamy on the inside. The burger is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Tator tops are great! Really nice staff.

Google
Cute little bar with amazing food. It's much better than what you expect at a bar. My husband had the cheesburger that is made fresh to order. Very delicious and tender. I had the shrimp creole. So delicious with just the right amount of spice. I would come back just for this. The service is on top of it. The bartender, Vi is so friendly and engaging and the rest of the staff is very attentive as well. Prices quite reasonable. Do yourself a favor and get off Bourbon for this treat.

Google
Fantastic prices & Amazing experience!! Drinks were absolutely fabulous and the bartender V was an absolute doll. I wish everyone I encountered in life was as friendly. I will say I wasn’t a big fan of the mushrooms but the environment, good conversation and amazing drinks made up for it.

Google
Fab little bar with food. Great bar staff. Recommend the gumbo here

Google
We needed a quick bite and this fit the bill! We loaded up on waaaay too much food. Bartender was crushing it juggling bar guests and food orders. Good overall was pretty good, especially for bar cuisine. If you’re wanting to get away from tourist traps and the hustle and bustle of NOLA, this is a good spot.

Google
Hidden gem. Highly recommend this place. The food is great and well presented. We ate here repeatedly when we visited New Orleans.

Google
This is a good ole time local bar/restaurant. It is small number of tables but were able to get right in. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They made the experience along with the great food. Gumbo was the best had by one member of our foursome, burger was tasty and the wings were excellent. If in the French Quarter don't miss this unique little establishment.

Yelp
Great staff!! Very welcoming and warm. The food was outstanding!! So much flavor and really well priced. They have a juke box for you to play music but the playlist going already was perfect.

Yelp
A local bartender recommended this place to us for beignets. We came here for takeout one night after drinking on Bourbon street. My boyfriend got a blackened shrimp poboy and my liquid courage had me ordering something I wouldn't normally order- a peanut butter burger. We also got mozzarella sticks. We failed at getting the beignets. The staff here are so friendly. Especially the doorman. But really they're all great. We appreciated the good customer service and friendly demeanor. Inside is small but typical bar environment. We got our food to go and ate at our hotel. The mozzarella sticks were really good and the marinara was delish!! The peanut butter burger was surprisingly good. My boyfriend liked his shrimp poboy, although it wasn't the best he's had in NOLA. We went back the following day and got more mozzarella sticks and the beignets. The beignets were good. I have nothing to compare them to, but we did enjoy them overall. We will definitely return to the copper monkey!

Yelp
Bar food 10/10 !! Great employees, great music and food comes out hot. We got blue cheese burgers, Mozerella sticks, and hot wings (could be better, but then again it's bar food)

Yelp
We needed food stat from a day of drinking and this did the job!!! Service was good, pretty quick considering. Food wasn't mind blowing, but that's ok.

Yelp
Traveling in from Nebraska for the weekend and staying in the french quarter. It's giving hole-in-the-wall and it wasn't that busy (yet)...i'm talking the door guy was reading a book. Which I liked, because once the streets are blocked off there's a line. So if you don't know better, go early. We all had a drink and the bartender was friendly. The food wasn't as good as you would expect for a local spot. Someone walking outside kept saying "get the Whitney special"...which I don't know who whitney is, but I got it. We also had wings, red beans and rice and Étouffée... I'm not sure how I feel about the food. I mean it was okay, but you could taste that it wasn't fresh ingredients. Think soup in a bag...the whitney was just okay. The potato was powdered mash, and the cheese was abundant and if I had know that was the amount, I would have asked them to go easy on the cheese. The chicken was good though...tender and flavorful. This dish has potential...if I was cooking this at home, I would mash fresh potatoes, used freshly shredded cheese. The wings and fries were good and surprisingly everything was priced decent considering we were in a tourist area. Would I go back, yes, but not for the food. It would be the drinks and the friendly service.

Yelp
Bartender could lose the attitude. Wait staff were nice. Wings were on the small side.

Brayden T.

Yelp
Very nice bar and amazing burger! Bartender working was very friendly! Definitely recommend

Yelp
Stopped in when we got to town for something to eat. I had po-boy and fries it was good. My mom had the blt and pasta salad. The bacon was very crispy and salad had way too much dressing on it to the point it was not edible. Husband had chicken Sammie it was nothing special but okay. The bartender was great very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Super good food, reasonable prices, and great service as well. We ordered a quesadilla, Turkey club, crab cakes, and a shrimp po boy. Everyone liked their food. Would definitely go back!
google avatar

Jada T.

Yelp
This place was very good and inexpensive. I had a very full meal for only 17 dollars which was the cheapest meal I had in New Orleans. I had a chicken quesadillas and that was the most filled quesadilla I ever had. The only thing that threw me off was how cold it was in there but the atmosphere definitely gave more of a bar than a restaurant.

Suzy C.

Yelp
Food service great was amazing advice is fantastic what a great version of nachos. I recommend everyone to have it before going on and drinking
google avatar

Yelp
First of all, I have a biased opinion as I believe that, when in doubt of where to go, go to the adjective-animal bar. Second, this depends on what you are looking for. We were killing time before our night flight, and I wanted a bar with comfy bar seats, sports on the TV, and reasonable prices. This fit the bill. If it is cold that day, sit on the right side of bar (that is where the heater is). V (with complicated full name) was AWESOME as the bartender. Not only did we feel the great service, but everyone who came in also got the same service. She was on her game. We didn't eat the food, but everyone who did looked happy. Definitely worth a stop when in New Orleans. Definitely recommend and see you there (the next time I am in New Orleans).

Yelp
Wow I just now realized I have never written a review about Copper Monkey which happens to be one of our favorite places. Everything on the menu is delicious- and yes we have tried it all...I love that you can order wings naked and get the sauce on the side. Less messy that way. Oh and sometimes I just want a salad, they have them too! The staff is super friendly, we love them all. One of our favorite places!

Yelp
Virginie, the best. Sweet, fun, and efficient. Known her, for years!! Fun atmosphere, located close to, all.

Yelp
I've only ordered take out from here. The food is made quickly. It seems clean and the staff are very friendly. The food is good. The chicken caesar wrap is good and something I normally get. The nachos are also good.

Yelp
My bestie and I got ditched by two other girls on our girls trip to New Orleans and ended up roaming the streets late night and stumbled upon a girl fight in front of some dive bar. Clearly our code to enter. Now, this wasn't the Copper Monkey, however we met a guy and his dog. That guy and his dog were Jacques and Benji. Jacques was so kind and told us about the bar he works at (enter Copper Monkey Grill), and told us to swing by the next night before we headed back home. We said "ok!" and I'm sure he thought that was the last he'd seen of us but sure enough we rolled through the next day and I'm so happy we did! In a city where food and drinks are great everywhere, Copper Monkey does not disappoint. The peanut butter burger immediately caught my besties attention and she HAD to order. Also, Jacques loves to come up with a creative cocktail for you. So just tell him the spirit you like, and it's guaranteed deliciousness. This is the place where the locals take a break from us tourists. If you need an intermission from Bourbon street, come here.

Josh T.

Yelp
I have had a great experience every time because of Jaques, the bartender! I've followed him since his Dat Dog days and he has been great regardless of where he is. He is considerate, patient, kind, and creative with his drinks! He is the only reason we stop here!
google avatar

Gretchen S.

Yelp
Great little spot to drop by and grab a drink and a burger! Friendly staff plus tasty food and drinks!
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
A block off Bourbon Street you will find the Copper Monkey. Great place to pop in for a lunch or late night snack. The several times we popped in for a bite or drink there was not much of a wait at all. Asked the bartender if they have any special drinks they like to make, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Solid dive bar with a wide range of great food! Wings, sausage, poboys, and fried stuff were all tasty and came out quick. We took our food and drink to go and they were super efficient.

Yelp
Copper Monkey was right next door to our hotel, so we stopped there quite a bit. We had drinks there like once a day. All the bartenders (there's only 4 total) are so friendly. We had dinner there one night with Aaron as the bartender, I got the BLT wrap, and he got the club wrap. I regret not trying the gumbo, but I needed a break from all the Cajun and Creole on that day. Aaron was a cool guy to talk to. He has been to a ton of baseball stadiums, so we got to chat about that for a while, and the playlist was great. The ceiling is painted really cool. It's just pretty there. The next morning, I really wanted to try their monkey buns, which are beignets with bananas, and they are out of this world. I love the banana sauce so much!!! V was working that morning. She is just so sweet! I got the order to go so I could enjoy them on my balcony.

Olivia M.

Yelp
Came here with my wife to grab appetizers and a drink around 6pm on a saturday. It was comfortably full - no wait, easy to find a seat with a few other groups. The bartender recommended a blonde ale I wound up really enjoying! My wife and I shared mozzarella sticks and the spinach and artichoke dip. both were thoroughly enjoyed! Absolutely perfect early saturday evening experience!
google avatar

Janice K.

Yelp
This place has ruined me for beignets. The monkey buns with the beignet filled with bananas are amazing. They were out of oysters so no oyster Pinot. They were also running low on hot sauce but luckily we were able to borrow some from another table. We will be back

Yelp
Had a fantastic evening at the Copper Monkey. If you want great service and AMAZING food in a nice dive bar environment, this is where you should go. The Whitney appetizer was unexpected and so good. Jambalaya was good, but try the peanut butter burger!! So good. Finish with Monkey Buns. And try not to want two or three more orders!! The service was top notch. The bar service was quick and attentive and the food was delivered quickly. Frankly, I didn't expect it walking in, but like New Orleans, it will surprise and delight you.

Yelp
jacques made the best cucumber drink ever and gave amazing service and attention. the food was 10/10 definitely recommend the jambalaya and gumbo. the whitney special sounds different but was actually delicious!

Tracy B.

Yelp
Just by chance we noticed this hidden gem and were lucky to find seats at the bar. We had the most amazing Ceasars chicken wrap, and the fries were, according to my fry snob hubby, some of the best ever. The service was quick and friendly. The place is small and got quite loud when touchdowns were scored but it was fun.

Chelsea Y.

Yelp
I'm always in search of a good bar with decent food. Man, was I surprised when I found this gem. The food was delicious. Apparently they have a French chef and this is the only bar in NOLA to have one. The gumbo was the best I've ever had. I always like to taste food before I season. Compliments to the chef! This didn't need anything. The cayenne kick was perfect. I'll be back this week for more. Bartender was super cool.
google avatar

Mary Ann B.

Yelp
The creole jambalaya and red beans n rice were fantastic. Whitney special was also good
google avatar

Lexi M.

Yelp
We were trying to find a nice spot to watch the college games and pool pipes in this place. It's a smaller bar, but they have a great outdoor area as well. The beer is cold and the drinks are made strong here. They have a good bar menu and the crawfish poppers are a must try.
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
Ordered take out because there were a bunch of us at our favorite Dive Bar in the FQ and we didn't want to leave. Had friends in from out of town, and the food was fabulous and DID NOT disappoint! Hot and ready when we arrived to pick it up!! Friendly and fast service! Highly recommend if you're looking for bar food that's tasty and also looking for a good variety!

Casandra R.

Yelp
Mike was a great bar tender and the monkey buns were outstanding!! Definitely recommended
google avatar

Jaime P.

Yelp
The oyster Poboy, and the shrimp Poboy were really good. Bartender, Jacques, made a really good Moscow Mule. Prices were good. Totally recommend!
google avatar

Amy E.

Yelp
Come to this local bar for fresh, airy beignets! Tried all in NOLA and other then cafe du mode, this place has the best. A bartender from Brennans recommended it and she was spot on!
google avatar

Erin O.

Yelp
We recently visited New Orleans and had the pleasure of staying in an apartment right above the Copper Monkey. We just loved ending our evenings hanging out at the restaurant!! Great food and good music!!
google avatar

Kristy R.

Yelp
This place has come in handy many a night. Kitchen is open late. Food is decent bar food. Good beer selection. Cheap prices. All around not terrible. The clientele is hit or miss. Very over the top or very low-key. I usually come for their food when all other places have already closed their kitchen.

Scott S.

Yelp
Showed up 30 mins before closing and they still served the full menu & drinks. Bartender had a good personality.. TV's everywhere making sports games a must go to spot to watch. Ordered Beignets to go will comment afterwards on post.

Yelp
We were buzzing around Burbon Street and this was the first bar that we stumbled across so we came in for a couple of drinks. The guy that was bartending was super cool and he definitely kept his customers entertained. The main area is kind of small but don't let it discourage you from coming in. There's an outside patio area to sit at and you can always get your drinks to go. Now they also serve food however we ate before going out that night. They have a couple of slot machines that you can play is they payout good? I couldn't tell you lol. But I can recommend this place just on its customer service alone.
google avatar

Connie B.

Yelp
Its a great place to go in the french quarter near royal st., if all you want is good food, good vibes, and not have to get dressed up, this place is perfect. The service is great, you walk up to the bar order and the food comes to your table. Great portions, the steak was cooked perfectly, and it was so well seasoned. The Whitney special has chicken in it. Yummm.... This place was a nice surprise and such great food.

Tanya M.

Yelp
Bartender Jacque is great! Made us absinthe the way it's supposed to be. Super friendly establishment.
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
We were waiting in line for Oceana Grill, right next door. It was a long wait & we were hungry so we decided to try this place. So glad we did! I had the crawfish etouffee & it was delicious! Even though they were short staffed, the service was excellent. We topped off dinner with the monkey buns for dessert. These banana filled beignets were as good as those at Cafe Du Mondes. We'll be back!
google avatar

Kayla N.

Yelp
I liked the food we ordered. Large portions and very filling. We had leftovers and I ate them the next day all mixed up lol We got a plate of Jambalaya and a cup of red beans with rice sausage and bread. And the Whitney special which is mashed potatoes with nacho cheese, Shredded cheese, bacon and sour cream.

Michael C.

Yelp
Hands down the best, tastiest and cleanest dive bar in the French Quarter- Mike, Jacque and the kitchen staff are the best.
google avatar

Jamie W.

Yelp
Decent Jambalaya, but a better dive bar experience above all else. Friendly staff as well
google avatar

Chrissy S.

Yelp
Came here for our first meal ever in NOLA. Loved it. The menu has a ton of amazing choices. We decided on the jambalaya and it was crazy delicious. The bartender was helpful, attentive and funny. The Yelp listing said masks required, but we did not wear one and no one else was,so maybe that's old? Easy walk from our hotel on Toulouse and bourbon. Lots of TVs. ** update** We've liked it so much in this trip,we've come back 3 times and still have another day lol. Jacques(sp?) has been amazing. Very attentive but not overwhelmingly. He's a good guy. I tried different foods every night and was not disappointed.
google avatar

Roxy L.

Yelp
Second time in this bar . Food was pretty good. Arron the bartender remember us and remember my drink:) Definitely will be back next winter for more fun in NOLA.
google avatar

Cindy W.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! We had the shrimp poor boy and grilled chicken sandwich with tater tots, and red beans and rice. The bartender was awesome. We ate at the bar and he made us feel welcomed. The food had a perfect amount of spice. Great little place!

Ted G.

Yelp
Okay, it's a dive bar but they have good food and drinks. Try the Peanut Butter burger, trust me.
google avatar

Jasper L. H.

Yelp
Great food and bartender was kind and courteous. It was convenient to the hotel and a calm chill place to relax after a long day of working out of town.
google avatar

Jenny S.

Yelp
We come to NOLA about once a year and our first stop right off the plane is always Copper Monkey. We're not drinkers but man do we love to eat. The food here is always excellent. It's steps away from Bourbon street but tends to be pretty quiet. It seems as if their food menu has become bigger throughout the years but we always go for the NOLA favorites- red beans and rice, gumbo, jambalaya, and shrimp etouffee. For dessert- they have beignets as well as "monkey buns" which are beignets with a delicious banana topping. This year, masks are required when walking around and all the food/drinks were served with disposable dishware.
