Well, my first experience with this hotel was that the main entrance on Oriental Parade was closed, and there was no prior notification that the new main entrance is located on Roxburgh Street. As a result, my Uber driver dropped me off late at the incorrect address. I then had to wait 15 minutes for a second Uber to transport me to the Roxburgh Street entrance, which was highly inconvenient.
The room itself was subpar. The carpet had noticeable stains and featured a significant crease running through half the room. The room door appeared weathered and stained. Even the corridor leading to my room was reminiscent of an old, run-down school hallway.
Generally, the hotel facilities appeared very tired and dated.
There was no air-conditioning, which made sleeping difficult as the room was quite warm.
Upon checking out, there was no staff present at the reception desk. I was obliged to simply leave my key card, along with the sleeve and room number, on the counter. I expected to receive a receipt via email but ultimately had to contact the hotel to obtain one.
The hotel is listed as 4-Star; however, the overall experience suggests a rating closer to 3 stars. In fact, it is more reminiscent of a cheap motel than a genuine hotel.
While the location is excellent and the staff friendly, I would not recommend this establishment. I travel frequently for my work and stay in a wide variety of hotels. This is by far the worst I have encountered in the last 15 years.
