Copthorne Hotel Wellington Oriental Bay

We stayed here for three nights, and found this a very impressive hotel with great views of the bay and city from its restaurant, and from our room. The room was comfortable, with fridge, safe and good Wi-Fi. Breakfasts were ok, but could have offered omelettes or better hot options, given how good the dinner we had there one of the evenings (beef Wellington is excellent). There is a decent bar area too. The hotel has guest laundry facilities which it could advertise better. There are plenty of good restaurants a ten minute walk away.

I would highly recommend this hotel. Great location. Across from the harbour with lovely views. 15 minutes walk to the heart of the city. Delicious breakfast. I would like to thank Anna and Max again who work at the front desk, who both were very kind, helpful and caring with my dilemma due to an error from our Travel Agent. They were extremely helpful.

4 star hotel, but feels like budget hotel. Super bare minimum. Was on quick trip to welly for business, but do not expect will stay at really old area of the hotel which no heat pump but provide with room fan. Amenities only provide shower cap & 1 cotton buds + pads (yea no toothbrush/razor & slippers) No complimentary water as well, so better bring your own water bottle. Even-though location is convenient near the central unfortunately will not back and recommend, better to choose at budget hotel which more central if I knew will be this lack of service.

To the General Manager Always a great location and service but the lack of love is showing in the room we stayed in. Have stayed here before but now looks tired. Broken tired old chair, green mould on the bottom of the shower door and thick layer of dust on headboard. Perhaps the manager needs to follow up with cleaning staff. Bed needs rotating as it falls to side that gets used most. Great view with small balcony and room was quiet.

I'm only reviewing the cafe/bar on the 7th floor. It has been a great place to have a quiet talk in comfortable chairs with relaxed instrumental music. Staff are friendly. Service is excellent. Coffee has been very good. The clientele changes every time because this is a hotel so noise levels vary likewise.

Great waterfront hotel. Staff have been wonderful. There is a parking option out the back so ask reception (it costs extra) There is an off site pool, gym and sauna available(included in your accommodation package) Laundry options available at extra costs. There is also a restaurant onsite which is great!

I'd say the view was second to none. A 5 minute (easy) walk to The location to the Tokina conference centre. Staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. For the price, the room looked tired. The curtains needed to be thrown out. Paint work is passed its best. In other hotels (of this price) I would expect to see 'nice touches' like pen and paper, a coffee machine, a bottle of water etc. This room had nothing!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with a lot of the previous reviews. |This hotel needs a full upgrade. It is very dated. And what hotel doesn't have air-conditioning these days?|The halls and my room smelt musty like it had wet carpet. |I will say I had a great soft bed however as it was winter there should have been extra blankets on the bed. After getting cold in the night, I eventually found an old winter blanket in the cupboard.

The one 80 restaurant in this hotel is excellent. The food preparation is hard to beat. We have had venison, salmon, lamb, and a host of sea foods. The deserts are to die for, baked Alaskan, and a host of Wonderful sweets, cookies and ice cream. Service is a little bit slow, because they take the extra time for preparation. It's not the most decorated restaurant, actually pretty plain as far as the layout And setting, it does have a view o the bay. Looking for dinner that is truly wonderful stop by.

I can only speak about the breakfast buffet, which was really grim. Watery eggs, cold sausage, lifeless, fruit, and a coffee urn that was not tended to very frequently. For.$35 this was largely a terrible deal. I did manage to get the bacon when it was hot as well as the mushrooms so they were edible, but everything else was pretty atrocious, including the lack of service. They are clearly in need of more staff, and especially training them on how to do their jobs

Stayed here for two nights end of February 2024. Good location. Access to decent gym down the street. We liked the division for both beds separated by a bathroom.

Location was good but hotel itself is lacking. In need of some serious updating. Carpet smells, mold in bathroom....

We stayed here for a couple nights on our trip and there were some positives and negatives. The location is overlooking the harbor and many rooms have a beautiful view. The room itself was very nice with a lot of space and everything was new and clean. Bathroom was spacious and had a great shower. The beds were very comfortable and it was quiet and easy to enjoy a good nights sleep. We went upstairs to the lounge to grab a drink and I imagine that during the day it's a beautiful view as you are surrounded with windows. At night there is not much that you could see, but the lounge was nice and the drink was mixed well. It is a pretty pricey stay, but you don't get many amenities. Wifi was additional and had to be renewed which was annoying and expensive. The other thing, is the front desk staff wasn't super friendly to us any of the days we were there. Overall it's a visually impressive hotel and though pricey, a pretty comfortable stay.

Our stay was very comfortable. The staff was very kind and attentive to our needs. The room was spacious, clean and had a nice view of the bay. Very close to the museum and wharf area. You can walk everywhere easily and there is a supermarket just down the street. Great coffee shop next door. Would happily stay again. Thank you

We chose this hotel to stay at because it was located fairly close to where we were to catch the Interisland Ferry. It has all the basics; nice, clean, etc., but nothing special that set it apart. I did have a problem that they don't offer free Wifi - what's with that? Even Holiday Parks offer free Wifi now! Also, the parking situation was really weird. I don't think I figured out how they did it, but it was a good thing we valeted our car and didn't need to go out again that night. Another issue is the credit card fee they charge. Really? Who does that? And a real problem I had was that the location was away from any good restaurants, which forced us to pay premium prices at theirs. Next trip to NZ, we will stay at a Top 10 Park and skip the hotel!

You know you've found someplace special if the local residents come here for special occasions! The food is amazing and we loved talking to the chef to compliment him each evening for more amazing dishes. This chef and restaurant have won several Wellington Culinary Fare Awards throughout the years. This is a "view to dine for" that you shouldn't miss. Staff are really friendly and helpful and you really can't beat the views from this vantage point. This is the perfect ambiance to enjoy an elegant mean, or a wonderful breakfast buffet - yummy!
