My experience here was generally good. Breakfast was good (although they ran out of plain yogurt our third day there); coffee was plentiful, not always the case in NZ. Our meals in the restaurant were pretty good, though service at lunch was pretty slow.||Our room was on the 8th floor. The layout of this hotel is a little different. You enter on ground floor, take the elevator to 7 for the restaurant and bar, and then a different elevator to the upper floors, which are in the back. The hotel is built into the side of the cliff (which is kind of cool); the result of this is that our 8th floor room looked directly into the front window of houses at street level behind us. Generally not a big deal (we weren’t paying for harbor view), but there is no A/C. Hotel was kind enough to include fans, but without the sliding glass door and curtains open, there was no cool air to drawn in. Even with the door open and the curtain pulled back and the fan on, mostly not below 26 degrees C and never below 24. So it was not ideal, as I like it about 21 when I sleep, and prefer to close the curtains.||Other than that, the room was a little cramped (queen bed + twin bed), but pretty comfortable. Beds comfy. Hot water plentiful and water pressure good. Hair dryer and plenty of towels. Somewhat outdated but clean. Location was great. Being able to walk up and down stairs from room to restaurant was nice.||I was on a group trip, and understand why they chose this place. It was OK but I probably would not book this for myself due to the lack of AC.
