Had a wonderful experience at this hotel despite reservations taking place. Staff member Alex, a lovely young man from Germany was so helpful and kind. He went out of his way to make our experience memorable and comfortable. The other staff were also helpful and friendly. Alex, you are special, thank you very much. ❤️ A1 Service. Regards, Mike & Megan Spijkerbosh

Well, my first experience with this hotel was that the main entrance on Oriental Parade was closed, and there was no prior notification that the new main entrance is located on Roxburgh Street. As a result, my Uber driver dropped me off late at the incorrect address. I then had to wait 15 minutes for a second Uber to transport me to the Roxburgh Street entrance, which was highly inconvenient. The room itself was subpar. The carpet had noticeable stains and featured a significant crease running through half the room. The room door appeared weathered and stained. Even the corridor leading to my room was reminiscent of an old, run-down school hallway. Generally, the hotel facilities appeared very tired and dated. There was no air-conditioning, which made sleeping difficult as the room was quite warm. Upon checking out, there was no staff present at the reception desk. I was obliged to simply leave my key card, along with the sleeve and room number, on the counter. I expected to receive a receipt via email but ultimately had to contact the hotel to obtain one. The hotel is listed as 4-Star; however, the overall experience suggests a rating closer to 3 stars. In fact, it is more reminiscent of a cheap motel than a genuine hotel. While the location is excellent and the staff friendly, I would not recommend this establishment. I travel frequently for my work and stay in a wide variety of hotels. This is by far the worst I have encountered in the last 15 years.

Great stay although part of hotel closed to be made earthquake save it didn't effect our stay at all. Room had a queen bed & a single, iron & board, safe, kettle with tea & coffee, good tv, toilet although small had a good shower & plenty room for all your toiletries. Walk to centre along harbour front 10/15 minutes but it's a dedicated walkway & used by meny locals for walking, jogging & cycling.

We stayed here for three nights, and found this a very impressive hotel with great views of the bay and city from its restaurant, and from our room. The room was comfortable, with fridge, safe and good Wi-Fi. Breakfasts were ok, but could have offered omelettes or better hot options, given how good the dinner we had there one of the evenings (beef Wellington is excellent). There is a decent bar area too. The hotel has guest laundry facilities which it could advertise better. There are plenty of good restaurants a ten minute walk away.

Do NOT book here! Here is what they dont tell you...is that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment and that the standard rooms dont have air conditioning! The room has a tower fan...that is sitting at 25 degrees, it's stinking hot and you're unable to sleep. The rooms are disgusting and old. It certainly is not worth the price per night. I am sure there are hostels with better accommodation that this. Staff do not care. I stay in hotels around 18 weeks of the year...never in my life have I stay in this bad of place...its 2 stars at best. Never AGAIN.

I really liked this hotel as it was close enough to everything but far enough away. it was close to the Te Papa museum and a few pubs within walking distance. I did laundry when I was here. And the only thing I would say is the laundry is a bit hard to access as you have to take a different elevator if you're staying on the wrong floor. Very windy, and we did hear the wind. My other mate had to move rooms in the middle of the night as there was water in her room, but they accommodated her immediately.

Google
I would highly recommend this hotel. Great location. Across from the harbour with lovely views. 15 minutes walk to the heart of the city. Delicious breakfast. I would like to thank Anna and Max again who work at the front desk, who both were very kind, helpful and caring with my dilemma due to an error from our Travel Agent. They were extremely helpful.

Google
Very disappointed that the hotel messaged 2 days before we arrived and mentioned that the entrance and reception was now at the back of the hotel and access to the front and quay was via 120 steps. No provision for disabled guests or people with physical issues to access the quay. Rooms were very tired and old , in desperate need of refurbishment and modernisation. Staff were helpful but had little accountability to provide solutions. Was given a voucher for drinks, so sat in the bar area but all we heard was a tirade of foul language from the staff. We reported this to the receptionist and manager and as told it was unacceptable but not much they could do. Would avoid this at all costs Neil someone takes responsibility and accountability for the many issues

Yelp
The one 80 restaurant in this hotel is excellent. The food preparation is hard to beat. We have had venison, salmon, lamb, and a host of sea foods. The deserts are to die for, baked Alaskan, and a host of Wonderful sweets, cookies and ice cream. Service is a little bit slow, because they take the extra time for preparation. It's not the most decorated restaurant, actually pretty plain as far as the layout And setting, it does have a view o the bay. Looking for dinner that is truly wonderful stop by.

Yelp
I can only speak about the breakfast buffet, which was really grim. Watery eggs, cold sausage, lifeless, fruit, and a coffee urn that was not tended to very frequently. For.$35 this was largely a terrible deal. I did manage to get the bacon when it was hot as well as the mushrooms so they were edible, but everything else was pretty atrocious, including the lack of service. They are clearly in need of more staff, and especially training them on how to do their jobs

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights end of February 2024. Good location. Access to decent gym down the street. We liked the division for both beds separated by a bathroom.

Yelp
Location was good but hotel itself is lacking. In need of some serious updating. Carpet smells, mold in bathroom....

Yelp
We stayed here for a couple nights on our trip and there were some positives and negatives. The location is overlooking the harbor and many rooms have a beautiful view. The room itself was very nice with a lot of space and everything was new and clean. Bathroom was spacious and had a great shower. The beds were very comfortable and it was quiet and easy to enjoy a good nights sleep. We went upstairs to the lounge to grab a drink and I imagine that during the day it's a beautiful view as you are surrounded with windows. At night there is not much that you could see, but the lounge was nice and the drink was mixed well. It is a pretty pricey stay, but you don't get many amenities. Wifi was additional and had to be renewed which was annoying and expensive. The other thing, is the front desk staff wasn't super friendly to us any of the days we were there. Overall it's a visually impressive hotel and though pricey, a pretty comfortable stay.

Yelp
Our stay was very comfortable. The staff was very kind and attentive to our needs. The room was spacious, clean and had a nice view of the bay. Very close to the museum and wharf area. You can walk everywhere easily and there is a supermarket just down the street. Great coffee shop next door. Would happily stay again. Thank you

Yelp
We chose this hotel to stay at because it was located fairly close to where we were to catch the Interisland Ferry. It has all the basics; nice, clean, etc., but nothing special that set it apart. I did have a problem that they don't offer free Wifi - what's with that? Even Holiday Parks offer free Wifi now! Also, the parking situation was really weird. I don't think I figured out how they did it, but it was a good thing we valeted our car and didn't need to go out again that night. Another issue is the credit card fee they charge. Really? Who does that? And a real problem I had was that the location was away from any good restaurants, which forced us to pay premium prices at theirs. Next trip to NZ, we will stay at a Top 10 Park and skip the hotel!

Yelp
You know you've found someplace special if the local residents come here for special occasions! The food is amazing and we loved talking to the chef to compliment him each evening for more amazing dishes. This chef and restaurant have won several Wellington Culinary Fare Awards throughout the years. This is a "view to dine for" that you shouldn't miss. Staff are really friendly and helpful and you really can't beat the views from this vantage point. This is the perfect ambiance to enjoy an elegant mean, or a wonderful breakfast buffet - yummy!
