These bungalows are secluded and surrounded by a lot of trees and beautiful greenery. Although mostly quiet, you can sometimes hear the people that live adjacent to the property. I did enjoy hearing the howler monkeys during the early morning hours and other times during the day. The bugalows are clean and nicely decorated and are composed of lots of beautiful woods. When doing my research about places to stay in Cahuita, I neglected to realize that the bungalows do not have air conditioning and only offer a ceiling fan above your bed to keep cool, which does not help much -- especially during the day time heat and humidity. The early mornings feel a bit cooler. Your bed is surrounded by netting and there were a few mosquitos in the room, as well as a few other small harmless insects that were attracted to light like when you turn on a lamp or use your cell phone. On side note, I was traveling solo and when I tried to book a tour from one specific tour company, I was told that their tours had a two person minimum. When I mentioned this to the property owner (Julie), she was very helpful in helping me locate a tour company that made a special exception in my case and I was able to enjoy a fun private day tour through Marcos Tourd Tours which was a lot of fun. I also received very good onsite customer service from Pete and Ana who provided me with helpful information about the local area.

This place is wonderful from the moment that we arrived. We were greeted by Julie and her super friendly dog Hunter. The bungalow was beautiful and exactly what we needed to get away from everything. At night, all you can hear is the nature around you and in the morning, you are awaken by howler monkeys and many birds chirping. It was an amazing place to stay and if we make it back to Costa Rica I know were we are stay for most of the trip.

Wonderful place. My wife and I were in for our fifth anniversary. The Bungalows are in walking distance to a beach, a convenience store, restaurants and bars. The bungalows themselves were very clean, surprisingly spacious and relaxing. There was even a hammock on the front porch! and a porch! The rooms have a safe and lovely bathroom. I was worried about bugs when I read there were mosquito nets, but after 3 days and nights I found I didn't even really need the net: very few bugs. That being said, it is in Costa Rica surrounded by jungle for at least 100 meters in every direction, but it really adds to the beauty. Julie the innkeep was a delight, very friendly and helpful. She also makes a great breakfast. It may be another 5 years, but if I have the option I would definitely stay here again. I'm very happy with the accommodation and the cost: 5 out of 5

This is a special place. Behind the gate is a forest with 3 bungalows each nestled privately away from the entrance. Staff was wonderful. The bungalow was comfortable and clean. It's located close to the beach and town with restaurants etc., as well as the national park. The true experience is in the sounds that come from being in the forest - nighttime frogs and insects, morning cacophony and symphonies from a multitude of birds, the patter of a passing raincloud. We saw a sloth right outside our bungalow, just snoozing the day away.

We have stayed at Coral Hill before in early 2018 and were delighted to return. However, at the end of 2018 the facility was taken over by Julie Willis, who is not on site and is leaving the on-site organization to her grandson Pete. Maybe that's why there is no breakfast, nor is the beautiful garden maintained in 2018, nor are the bungalows cleaned. Actually, there is almost never anyone there, everything makes an abandoned and run-down impression. What a pity! To top it off, we were charged $200 for using the dryer, which we allegedly broke. One can only advise against a visit to Coal Hill! Hello Julie, since the door to the laundry room was wide open, the light was on and nobody responded to my repeated calls and knocks, I assumed that the machines would also be offered as a service for the guests. I guess I was wrong there...

What a lovely place! We had a great time in our bungalow. Everything was clean. Best breakfast we have ever had! Joe & Chris were great hosts. We enjoyed every minute! The best thing was the nature right in front of our bungalow. We saw 4 sloths, iguana, monkeys, poison dart frogs and more... in the morning you hear the howler monkeys :-)

Easily my favorite room during our week in Costa Rica. Location was great, just up the road from food, music and Playa Negra beach. Julie (and Hunter) were very friendly and welcoming, and the bungalow was so comfortable we wished we didn't have to leave so soon!

First of all, Julie is a fantastic host. The location is great, close to the town, beach, restaurants, bars, national park. Bungalows are spacious, clean and charmy. Hot shower! Highly recommended!
