Coral Reef Surf Hostel and Camp

This place lives up to its wifi connect-best hostel ever. We stayed there 3 weeks and the staff welcomed us like we were part of a family. Nora is the best there at making us feel comfortable and helping us without whatever we needed are und town. She is always laughing and lighthearted about everything. We went on an excursion to see the howler monkeys but they were actually living right in the trees above us at home. I would love to go back and stay there. ❤️😍😘

Great hostel right in the middle of Tamarindo. The staff is very nice and attentive, there is Wi-Fi, the rooms have AC in them and they are VERY clean and the bathrooms are also very clean. There is a kitchen for the use of the guests with everything you might need and the prices are very affordable (relativly speaking because its still Costa Rica..)

Perfect location. 1 minute walk from the beach and downtown. In between 2 restaurant.

This place needs work. Not particularly fan of giving bad reviews but too much happened: Rooms are brightless, close to the kitchen (where people can cook fried fish until 10pm), showers not clean, bathroom stench (see-through toilet paper you can’t flush but only put in bin). The place is also 10 meter away from a booming nightclub. Hope you like to fall asleep on some vibrant music. Mattresses with HOLES is an interesting concept but i’d prefer a silent AC if i wanted some air. Cherry on top? Cockroach waking me up at 5am crawling on my skin eating a scab on my leg. I didn’t need to know they can bite. One of the staff (f) was nice. I wouldn’t pee on that place if it was on fire.

I am sorry to say but don’t stay there if you looking for something clean or comfortable. It’s like in the back of a gerage, you have the smell of the restaurant next to it. So in our room it smelled like fried stuff all the time. The bathroom was not clean at all! All toilets was dirty and the trashcans full off paper all the time. The kitchen was really dirty and cockroach around.After traveling 4 weeks in Nicaragua and Costa Rica this was the worst stay by far. The room with AC was okey once you got used to the smell of the restaurant. We booked for 3 nights but left after a night cause we really didn’t feel good at all. I am sorry :(

This was a weird vibe. We expected a hostel with other travelers but there were no backpackers there. It seemed like there were a couple of families living there long term. No hate on families but it was definitely not what we were expecting. It's super loud at night with a club nearby which we can deal with but not when we're woken up at 6am by screaming kids. There isn't any sound proofing between the doom and the room above and we could clearly hear kids crying / running around very early in the morning. Staff were super lovely though and the facilities were good.

The hostel is located in a very good place and the people are friendly. The showers and the bathrooms are quite okay. But the rooms were really untidy, there were spiders, cockroaches and other insects. It‘s also very loud during the night. When we entered the room we had spiderwebs in our faces and this is no joke!!

Me and my friend came and stayed for a week here. It was a great stay with air conditioning and good location. What really made this hostel stand out from places I have been before was their staff. We both got very ill due to something we must have consumed. It was 1:30am and the night guard organized a taxi, a doctor and to get a staff member to help us out. Everyone was super caring and went above and beyond to make us as comfortable as we could have been. David the night guard is so kind and thoughtful as well as Nora who brought us water and made sure we communicated with the doctor. The owner himself checked in on us and was very kind. We love this hostel not only for their help but positive vibes and great atmosphere. Definitely want to come back and stay again.
