This was our second visit to Cordillera Blanca Lodge (the first being 13 years ago with two young children). Both visits have been wonderful, unforgettable and unique. Charlie is an excellent host with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Victor and family make delicious meals and are always friendly and helpful. The location is sublime, immensely peaceful and remote. Yet in this remote location Charlie provides everything you could possibly need: spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms with incredible views, lovely food and tea whenever you want it, not to mention hammocks for lazing around in after a long day walking. The atmosphere is relaxed and homely and I can’t wait to return!

It was the highlight of our trip in Peru. The location is PERFECT for hikers! Some hikes starts directly at the lodge 🤩, Laguna 69 is at only 45 minutes by taxi and Charlie took care of it for us. The food is so GOOD!!! The lodge is just so comfy and nice! Everything was PERFECT!! A big thanks to Charlie for is hospitality! I recommand ++++

This is a place like no other! You’re nestled in stunning 360 mountain views, in fabulous comfort, with all meals provided for you. Such beautiful escapism with a magical blend of nature and nourishment for body and soul! With her trusty laptop our daughter took the concept of remote working to a whole new level. Many thanks Charlie and your crew. We won’t forget you! Love, Team Yorkshire x

Cordillera Blanca Lodge is a beautiful accommodation located in a quiet, remote setting—ideal for those seeking peace and relaxation. The rooms are comfortable, meeting Western standards, with spacious and cozy beds (especially by local standards). Each room is nicely furnished and includes a terrace with scenic views, adding to the charm of the place. The atmosphere is calm and serene, perfect for passive rest or short walks to a nearby lake. However, for more active hiking or exploring the region, you will need to arrange transportation. The owner is knowledgeable and offers good advice on trips and hikes, though we felt slightly overwhelmed upon arrival by the amount of manuals and information we received all at once. On the downside, the lodge is quite expensive by local standards and heavily relies on its location as a selling point. Despite being advertised as well-situated, the truth is that without a car, you’re more or less stuck at the lodge. The taxi services offered by the owner are extremely overpriced—sometimes up to $100 for a return trip to the near valley. We later managed to arrange the same trip ourselves for about a third of the price (!!!) by finding a driver and accomodation in the nearby village. Meals are another significant cost. While the food was varied and tasty, the pricing felt excessive, especially since purchasing meals is mandatory for guests. In summary, Cordillera Blanca Lodge is a great choice for those looking to unwind and enjoy nature from the comfort of the garden or a hammock. For active exploration and hiking, however, be prepared to invest considerable time and money in transportation. This place is best suited for peaceful relaxation rather than as a base for intensive trekking.

Amazing experience! Lodge is located in a wonderful location, overseeing the Huandoy and Huascaran mountains, right beside the beautiful Qeushu lagoon. Food was excellent. Rooms & beds were very comfortable. Charlie was an amazing and welcoming host! Will definately come back with the family.

Had a fantastic time here at the lodge. Charlie and his team are incredible and they did such a fantastic job. Would recommend this place to anybody who is coming to do the lake 69 hike. They made it so easy for us to get there and back. The room was so nice and comfortable and the food was delicious.

Amazing place, people, and location. You really are in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca, with several hikes right out the door with vistas of the mountains, a nearby laguna and ruins, or ice falls. It is less than an hour drive to popular hiking trails such as Laguna 69, and listen to Charlie’s advice on timing to avoid crowds at the lake and taking an extra uphill drive via taxi to a trailhead location to see some amazing mountain vistas while avoiding the initial climb (and again, crowds). So great to come back to the lodge each day and have a fire going in the wood burning stove in your room, the best cool water you could drink right out of the tap, instant and constant hot water for your shower, delicious and nutritious food, and great conversation with Charlie, his family, and other wonderful guests. Hammocks and grass area with views of Huandoy and Huascaran mountains looming above make it tempting and perfectly acceptable to have a rest day from long hikes while catching up with a book or some work. Also note that Charlie’s wife runs a lodge near the airport, Cuesta Serena, and it is a nice place to stay for a night after arriving or before departing Huaraz if you have the time.
