5 minute walk to the castle from the car park, unique castle with its star shape wall but can do with a freshen up compared to photos I have seen of it from a few years ago. I had the dogs with me which arent allowed in the castle itself so unfortunately never got to see the inside, hopefully get in the next time.

We visited out of season when it was closed. Still suitable for a walk around the outside as it has nice views. Castle needs a paint.
Parking at the bottom and not too far to walk to the top, 15 minutes or so on a grass track

Been up here a few times and this was the first time I was in! Great for a visit if you’re in the area!

Beautiful old tower house situated on a small hill overlooking the surroundings. For some bizarre reason it was closed on the day I called ( Murphy's Law...again). Access via a track that winds up the hill so be aware of this if you have difficulty in walking. Car park at entrance gateway at bottom of hill.

Excellently restored castle with great interpretation boards and the opportunity to glimpse what it might have been like to be stationed there in the 17th and 18th centuries.
It is clear that the castle played a pivotal role in the toing and froing of political and military conflicts.
Even has an activity area for youngsters and uniforms to dress up in.
Well worth a visit but quite a climb uphill from the car park which will present a challenge to folk with mobility issues.

Cool castle dominating the Strath. We didn't venture inside, just walked up from the carpark to stretch our legs.

A very unique looking outer wall, a star shape.
Very historic story to read about within this venue.
Lots of stairs ( I won't say how many, as it's part of the kids quiz). A 5 minute walk up hill to get into this place so be warned.
Still if you able, definitely worth going to see.

This is a very interesting castle mostly due to the star shaped outer wall. It's at the top of a steep slope so you will need your walking boots. The castle was closed when we visited and the snow was still on the roof. The whole thing looks very damp and I'm not sure there's going to be that much to see if you manage to find it open to the public. Pretty good car park. Big unwelcoming "No Drones" sign on the gate going in. Which is silly given that it's a great place for aerial shots.
