Booked this cottage partly to see some local friends of ours. Sadly the weather was pretty grim most of the week but this made it all the more important that the cottage met our needs in being comfortable to be around. And there is no doubt it did. It has been very carefully and thoughtfully equipped and furnished by the owner, who is also responsible for the original conversion. It is a perfect retreat for couples, a beautiful living space, top spec kitchen and cosy bedroom. Note there are two cottages, around 50m apart and quite private from each other; we stayed in White Willow which has a seperate bedroom and a jacuzzi bath with shower over. We saw the other cottage, Badgers Hollow, which is just as nicely done, but it is open plan (and thus a huge space) so no seperate bedroom and I think a shower/wet room rather than a bath/jacuzzi. It's really a matter of preference. Note that both are well equipped for out of season, with under floor heating and lovely looking contemporary wood burners. There is also a pleasant outdoor seating area overlooking the valley so if you have better weather than us, it fits the bill for that too. The owner, Colin, is very helpful and knowledgable about the area, Note the cottage is up a narrow lane- but you'll need to get used to those because all the minor roads are narrow, mainly single lane, and with tall hedges/walls- and although you could probably walk to Fowey in about 20 mins, it's not really ideally situated if you want to be able to stroll into town. But for us, seeking some rural peace and quiet, while still close to the local attractions, it was perfect.
