When considering this review you have to break it down into layers.||Firstly, the hotel staff are excellent, they work hard to deliver the best possible experience. The hotel is very clean, again the staff work hard in all areas to keep the hotel clean, room was cleaned to a vey high standard.||The layout of the hotel is very good, great pools, lots of sunbeds and not overcrowded. I can only comment on the breakfast, and it was excellent, great choice of food and plenty of options.||There is no doubt that the hotel is now a little tired and in need of a refurb. They are well aware of this, but they do an amazing job to maintain high standards. The rooms are big and well designed, just a little old fashioned but despite this it was a really comfortable stay. ||St Julian's is a lively place, so if clubbing is your thing and you are aged between 18 and 30, I am sure you will love it, if like us you are a little more mature, then it might not be for you, but the hotel is far enough out of the town not to be an issue.||Pool bar prices are a little high € 6.50 for a pint of beer is not ideal , but € 5 for a 750ml bottle of water is just too high. Pop in to the Spar in town, stock up the fridge in your room and its much better, just silly to charge that much for water.||Probably the biggest issue, is not the fault of the hotel. Malta is under going huge development, everywhere you go there is building. Regrettably, right next door there is a huge hotel and shopping complex being built. 12 cranes in action 7 days per week, each time they are used the warning buzzers are sounded, as well as the typical noise of tools and work from a building site, it is not ideal for relaxing around the pool, and without a doubt it detracts from the local aesthetic.||Until the hotel is refurbed, and until the building work is complete, I would not return, despite the hard working staff. ||Just a footnote and not a hotel issue, if you book this hotel through TUI, they do not mention anything about the building on their website. It is only when you have booked and you get confirmation, that on page 4, in small writing do they acknowledge that there is building work. They should be very clear at they outset, rather than hide it, only to tell you later - TUI this is really poor.
