Cormoran Lodge

Beautiful place, very green, with lovely trees and flowers. It’s calm, chilled, and really relaxing. I didn’t stay at the hotel, but we went there to eat and used some of the facilities. The food was good, and the prices are fair. Special mention to Innocent, a calm and professional gentleman who served us very well. The service was relaxed and a bit slow, but in a good way—I actually loved the peaceful pace. For the food: • The fried fish fillet captain wasn’t marinated, so it was a bit basic 🫣 • My husband ordered the tilapia fillet in butter, and it was yummy! • The samosas were tasty, though I found them a bit tiny for the price Still, we enjoyed the food overall. Another thing worth mentioning: the ladies’ toilet has a baby changing table—which is very helpful (parents with babies will understand 🫣😂). I didn’t check if the men’s toilet has one too. The place also has a small beach and a children’s playground. We tried kayaking, and it was a really enjoyable experience. Overall, I loved it,peaceful, family-friendly, and a great spot to relax. Would definitely go back.

We booked this place completely last minute, because we were looking for a place to stay for just one night. Ended up truly loving our stay and the services provided. Regretted leaving the place and vowed we will stay day much longer on our next visit to Rwanda. Would highly recommend this place!

Beautiful resort. With the most friendly and efficient staff. They went out of their way to meet our wishes, from dishes not on the menu, to experiences they do not regularly provide. My one recommendation: do not leave without going on the boat ride. It is an amazing and relaxing experience.

For us in Tulip Tree for Social Development it was the 3rd time last June. Our group was very satisfied, we loved the location, the management and service and the food (we would appreciate some variety though). Rooms are spacious, comfortable beds and stunning views. No mosquitoe nets at the windows, only around beds.

A very relaxing stay on the lake side. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with all expected facilities and spectacular views.The restaurant serves a variety of meals to suit all tastes and there are loungers by the lake and boat trips to nearby islands.

We stayed here for an overnight stop Lake Kivu while driving from from Nyungwe to Volcanoes National Parks. ||The rooms are in wooden chalets, and are very large, with great views over the lake.||The food in the restaurant was good and the service was friendly and reasonably efficient. The reason we enjoyed the food probably was that it was cooked to order, and not a buffet as in most other Rwanda hotels we stayed at.||A slight negative was the porters touting for tips, who had to be force-ably moved away from our bags. ||The hillside down to the lake is steep, but we thought manageable. Getting in and out of the lake if you wanted a swim, looked to be a little difficult, and the lake was quite cold.

A comfortable, well provisioned hotel, with beautiful rooms, looking out onto the lake. We used this as a stop over, and would happily have stayed longer. We enjoyed bird watching from the balcony of our room and the main dining area, we also enjoyed a boat ride to Bat and monkey islands.

The Cormorant Lodge is a beautify lodge overseeing Lake Kivu. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable. Our unit had a great view of Lake Kivu.
