The 3 sweetest young women helped our large bachelorette party with lunch. BLT and pizza and crinkle cut fries were cooked perfectly. For being in the middle of the red river gorge this is such a solid pick for lunch.

What a waste of money. Both pizzas were dry and overcooked. Look in the boxes and check your pizzas. Sadly, we trusted that we didn't need to, realized our mistake after driving 25 minutes to our cabin and threw them away.

Upon arrival this place looked absolutely dead I thought for sure it was closed. But it was indeed open. You had to seat yourself despite it being a diner. We had to put our own tables together for a large group but it was okay. You had to go up to order instead of a waitress coming to you. Food was okay price and delicious! It was cute inside. We enjoyed our time here.

Plane Jane on the outside, a real gem on the inside, just if they had a dartboard and a jukebox!!! (Hint Hint) Staff is friendly, restaurant is clean, smells good in here too, inviting atmosphere! Hunt Brothers Pizza is in the menu, along with sandwiches and a ghost of deep fried goodies. Our food was hot and made fresh to order, no complaints from either of us. Thank You Cornbread Cafe for a wonderful Father's Day Dinner!!!

Tired to stop by Sunday July 6th for breakfast. Walked in waited to be seated and a girl comes out of the kitchen says do I need a menu. Told her that I did she lays it back down on the counter across the restaurant and says to just let her know what I want by apparently going to the kitchen door. Now I've been here once before and it was also for breakfast and was treated like I was in a restaurant. I have no clue what was going on and got no explanation. Ended up just going to the gas station down the road. It was strange and even stranger the lack of communication. If they were short staffed or if the dining room was open or not. No clue what was going on but pretty sure I'll just head to Morehead next time and pass on whatever this was.

This is a very interesting restaurant - it's called the Cornbread Cafe, but there's no cornbread on the menu and the inside is decorated like a '50s diner and soda shop. The food is standard American fare, and it was pretty good! The service was fine, although we were confused on the ordering process and we ended up not getting some of the stuff we ordered in the end. The staff also were arguing with each other a little bit and we had to order in full view of the kitchen, which was off-putting. However, I noticed that the place was really really clean, so I give them full credit for that! Our food was brought out in to-go boxes even though we were eating there. I don't think I'll be back, but it's a good option in Frenchburg.

Hair in my burger. Got our order completely messed up. Didn’t want to bring drinks. Finally did and they were stale flat couldn’t drink them. Used to be an awesome place when they had the Buffett definitely don’t recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
Obviously this restaurant has changed hands. The food wasn't bad Everything was served into go containers. You placed your orders in a register that was practically in the kitchen. No cornbread was on the menu anywhere. No ice tea. The menu showed milkshakes they were not available. The prices were very reasonable. The inside at one time was set up like a diner but now it has no ambiance.

Yelp
For a place called "Cornbread Cafe" I was very disappointed when there was no cornbread sold in said cafe. I was expecting southern food by the name however was sorely disappointed when all that was offered was burgers, fries, and cafeteria bosco sticks. The food and service was pretty average but did the job for my group of very hungry people. I will say that there were very limited food options, no buffet, and no ice cream machine working. The worst part of this experience was later in the day. I got one of the worst cases of food poisoning I have ever had from a burger and chili cheese fries. So be warned.

Yelp
As the only Yelped place around, I had to stop in and see for myself. I actually enjoyed this place more than my husband did. That's always how it goes unless he picks the destination. We got there at about 10:15 and the waitress explained that the salad that was already out, was only for the lunch buffet. You know when you're told you can't have something and it makes you want it more? That usually doesn't apply for salad or anything healthy. But that's what happened here. I'm not a breakfast fan and the few times on the breakfast buffet didn't look appealing. I finally talked the waitress it to letting me have the salad, not really but I did mention the price listed in the menu. I think that was issue, she didn't know how to charge it as an addition to the breakfast buffet. I enjoyed my salad, which included potato salad, boiled eggs, ham and more. I even went back for seconds. My husband on the other hand, complained about everything he tasted. He asked if fresh bacon would be put on the bar, the lady then pulled a tray from the counter that was in between the kitchen and the bar, it had been sitting there since we arrived and the bacon was cold of course. Then the waitress did a last call warning because they were breaking down the buffet to get ready for lunch. He literally was given about 15 minutes to eat. It would've been nice had the waitress mentioned the time limit when we first arrived or even offered him to partake in the lunch buffet... especially since he only ate the equivalent to what a child usually eats. I did enjoy my salad, so I won't completely rate it on my husband's bad experience. Plus, the waitress was nice... even though she could use a bit of customer service training.

Yelp
We've been here a few times as we live just a few miles away. When we moved here from Arkansas we were so happy that there was a least one sit down resturant in town besides subway. We were sadly mistaken. If you love southern food do yourself a favor and don't eat here. The parking may be full but it's only because there's no where else to go. The staff is nice enough but the food is horrendously bad. Too greasy to too dry... Over cooked, microwaved, reheated frozen mess, seasonings bad. I wish they would pull it together and start serving decent food. They could be so much better. The worst part are the rediculously long wait times. My wife was told it would take an hour for fried chicken (in a country restaurant mind you). The last time we went there. I've waited 45 minutes for overfried catfish and flavorless hushpuppies you could have used as golf balls. What a shame.

Yelp
Place is disappointing. Got food poisoning and they don't even sell cornbread. Wait staff also wasn't following state regulations regarding masks, and were rude to us the entire time.

Yelp
Service leaves a lot to be desired. We went here last night for my birthday dinner. My husband ordered the buffet and I ordered a catfish meal. After 30 minutes the waitress told me it was on its way , I told her to make it into a Togo box since husband had already eaten. When my order was up another waitress took my plate to someone sitting in her section even though the cook told her that wasn't her order and that I had been waiting for 35 minutes. unbelievable service when I asked to speak to manager was told there wasn't one. Had to go to IGA and buy bologna and bread for my meal cause we didn't plan on having to cook at our cabin.

Yelp
Considering the fact that a lot of these types of restaurants don't make anything from scratch and everything is either frozen or comes out of a can you would except faster than normal service and wait times. This is not the fact with Cornbread Cafe. Called to place an order of Chicken tenders and fries and was told that I'd have to wait an hour to get my food. I understand that sometimes places get busy but to tell someone an hour so you and other employees won't get overwhelmed is unprofessional and quite frankly lazy. I won't be ordering anytime soon.

Yelp
Went in for dinner with my family. Half of us got the buffet which offered lots of fried food... Chicken was delicious and crispy. Fried fish and popcorn shrimp average. Server slow on refills. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the cornbread! Not sweet which I prefer. Overall solid option for dining in Frenchburg. If you want more of a small town feel/character... go to Small Town cafe on the corner.

Yelp
If you're passing though and need something to eat, just stop at subway. This restaurant is terrible. My husband and I went there 2 days ago and ordered burgers. It took forever and both of our meals were cold. They heated our food up for us and were still not good at all. Half of the restaurant had dirty tables and it wasn't even busy. Definitely do not recommend.

Yelp
I can keep this one simple. We were camping in the Red River Gorge area, we were on the way home and I was craving chicken fried steak. We took a lovely drive and found this place. I got what I came for (chicken fried steak) and it had that thick, whipped, peppery gravy I was looking for. Amazingly, the fried catfish and fried chicken in the buffet table were not only fresh, but really delicious. Everything else is a pretty solid "meh", from decor to sides to the immediate area (the namesake cornbread was pretty weak - mostly wheat flour, too sweet and not warm, but I wasn't there for cornbread). For what I wanted, it really hit the spot.

Yelp
This place is horrible. They have too many teenagers working who don't know how to cook most items on the menu or be friendly to customers. The hours are shown until 10pm on weekends and when I called at 9:30 the unfriendly girl told me she couldn't take my order because they closed at 9pm. I didn't believe her because I think they are just lazy and don't want to cook anything at 930pm so they can leave at 10pm instead of 1030pm. If they really do close at 9pm then they need to update their hours. Not to mention there are no adults there so the teenagers can do what they want....like stop serving at 830pm.

Yelp
My wife got the buffet and said the chicken was OK, I got the chicken fried steak and it was inedible. The diner was incredibly dirty on the inside and the restrooms were something from a horror show. Urine on the floor and trash cans that hadn't been emptied in weeks. AVOID, LOOKED UNSANITARY

Yelp
Cheap! Fantastic steak sub and fried mushrooms. Adding the tiny salad bar for 1.99 was fine. Avoid the ribeye steak, though. Kid corn dogs were fine. Clean.

Yelp
This place looked so nice and we had just came off Cave Run Lake for the day with friends. We were all hungry and I checked online and the hours said open until 10pm. We stopped in at 8:30 and two ladies behind the counter was not happy to see us. She told us that they close at 9 and we had 5 minutes to order or they couldn't serve us. They had not cleared tables and I said I checked online and we thought you were open until 10pm and this lady said no. We stood there a minute kind of feeling stupid by how rude we were treated and left and went to The Burg. We were treated so much better there! I wish I could give a better rating as I heard the owner would be upset with this, but they lost business that night and you really should have better employees representing your establishment.

Yelp
In such a small are there are few places to eat but this is surely the last one I would chose. After trying to eat here multiple times I learned that the food it's left isn't to bad (I'd have gave a 2/5 for food alone), my real issue was the customer service. The manager, a small women named barb, was extremely rude to the group I was with, on all occasions we ate, I will not eat here anymore (as well as most customers I talk to wont) because of her rude attitude and judgmental statements to paying customers. I would not recommend the cornbread cafe to anyone
