On the Grid : Corner Music & Forks

"Though technically separate establishments, there is something at one of these neighboring shops to keep the whole band happy. Nashville is not only a town of music stars, but full of the most talented and picky studio musicians you will ever meet. Of these studio musicians, the drummers shop at Forks. The rest shop at Corner Music. Need we say more." - Peck & Company

They have Black mountain picks!! This place is awesome, no dickhead sales people and they actually let you play the instruments! Gear selection is fantastic all the way around. Carters Vintage has some strong competition, this place is definitely a little more budget oriented (not a bad thing) they do have some gems though. Other stores would let a peasant touch a $800 dollar guitar, y’all’s acoustic room is one of the best I’ve ever stopped at. 11/10 service. (They sell reeds here too!)

Google
How did I not know about this place? If you are into music, don't miss it. The selection is large, but more importantly to me, it's got some depth. I have been trying to find a mandola to see if I want one, but had no luck before today. They had a couple, along with octave mandolins, bouzoukis, and some other interesting stuff. Of course, they also have about a squillion guitars. Again, they have a broad range of them. It's not one of those places that has a wall of Strats and Les Pauls, but nothing else. For example, I found a surprisingly large collection of Danelectros and some nice archtops. The location was a little surprising. The store is in a strip mall that has seen better days. I wasn't sure I was in the right place, but there it was. No matter, it's definitely worth the drive. Finally, the staff there was great. Helpful, friendly, informed, and they didn't pressure me. 10/10 will visit again.

I had a great experience with Corner Music. I drove up from Chattanooga to check out Les Paul 50s goldtops. I figured I would end up getting something at Gibson Garage, but they didn't have what I was looking for. I was about to drive back home when my wife suggested I go to another store. I called Corner Music and talked to Robbie. He let me know that their inventory said they had one, but it was still in the box and they would have to find it. I discovered they had a Slash sig gold top as well. It was about a 10-15 minute drive from Cummins Station, and when I got there Robbie was putting fresh strings on the guitar I was interested in. He gave me the slash sig and a room all to myself with many amps to choose from. A few minutes later he brought me the 50s Standard. I switched between the two uninterrupted for probably 45 minutes! It was great, and I wish I didn't live 2.5 hours away. If I make another big purchase, it will be worth the drive. Heck, I need to go back because I was too excited to look at anything else. I got there, went straight to the back of the store, then straight to the front when I was done. All the staff, and customers, I interacted with were great.

Google
I went there for advice on what strings to use on my Fender Tenor Telecaster. Dan’s advice to use strings 1,2,3,&5 starting with 9s was spot on. The Electric Tenor plays and sounds great. Thanks Dan!

Google
Great professional music store with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wish I’d found this place sooner!!! Well stocked! Nice not hear “We can order it for you” 🤓 Thanks to Stephen for his assistance on the ‘51 Vintage II Tele and the ‘68 Fender Princeton!

Couldn’t find this Casio CS-67 stand anywhere and luckily came across it on Corner Music’s website, ordered it on Monday and got it on Thursday! A+ service and fast shipping

Google
Wow what a beautiful store on the inside. I was not prepared for the excellent selection of guitars when I entered. Acoustics gibbons, epiphanies, Eastman, Takamine, Breedlove plus a few more stocked in depth. Electrics gibbons, epiphiphones, a godly amount of fenders, grestch, heritage and Eastman as far as the eye can see. Amp selection was impressive to almost every fender made to supros. Well worth your time! And staff was super chill and inviting. One of my favorite finds in nashville. This store belongs in likes of gruhn and carters.

Google
I was incredibly stoked to find my future Nord Stage 3 HP76 for sale on Reverb, listed by Corner Music. My wife bought it for me & we booked a hotel in Nashville in order to pick it up. Then received an email from Carl… “we are unfortunately out of stock of the keyboard you purchased. We can give you the 73-key version for the same price.” Really?? A smaller unit for the same price?! Thanks for nothing.

Yelp
The entire staff is great! Ben and Kirk are the brother that own and run this music store. They have work with everyone from beginners to stars and everyone in between. They let you try instruments and are always willing to lend a hand. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and just amazing people. I would also like to send a personal thank you to Ben and Kirk for their help with a benefit I organized. They were more than willing to donate and be part of a community event. Thank you guys!

Yelp
I'm gonna try to keep this short as possible. Brought in a bass amp for repair. Hadn't heard back from them in a couple months so I stopped by. My bass was right by the door where I had left it 2 months prior. I talked with the staff and they apologized and said their guy would pick it up. More months go by. I stopped in the store a few more times and they said they'd check up on it and get back to me. They never did. I finally got the guy's number who was working on it and got ahold of him. He hadn't looked at it yet but would see what he could do. Keep in mind this is probably 6 MONTHS later. Wait a few more months... nothing. Eventually I get ahold of the guy again and he says "Oh yeah I couldn't fix it. It's back at the shop. No one called you?" That was months ago... no one ever called. For all I know that amp is still sitting at their shop or was thrown out. They can keep it! On a positive note... the store is nice with a wide selection of equipment and friendly staff. Just never bring your equipment in!!!!

Yelp
Love this music store. I bought my Takamine from them in 1998! Still a fantastic guitar. They carry lots of quality and are very friendly. Go check them out!

Joshua N.

Yelp
All they really do is sit around and talk crap about their customers behind their backs. Good prices but they're just super snobby and out of touch.

Yelp
Corner Music is the absolute, "go to" music equipment store. It's not a chain, right here local and owned by a great guy, Larry Garris. He and his folks will work with you and get you what you want at a great price. Before you go to chain stores let them price what you want. You will be pleased!!!

Yelp
Some time ago, I started a gift project to build a telecaster guitar from parts. The body and neck came from Warmoth. And based on recommendations from several highly regarded guitar techs I spoke with, I acquired the pickups, tuners, bridge and other hardware. At this point I had invested just over $1,000. Although I love to jump into projects, I quickly realized I did not have the skill or expertise to assemble the guitar (properly set the neck, correctly solder all the electrical connections, adjust the bridge, etc.) Then in an 11/23/2023 Facebook post, I read a glowing review on Jeff Marple, the guitar tech at Corner Music. The review was posted by a professional guitar player who had "worn out" his telecaster on tour while backing up a well known C&W artist. Jeff had resurrected and upgraded the guitar to the complete satisfaction of its owner. I contacted the owner (who I was friends with) and he was very encouraging. I went ahead and contacted Jeff Marple at Corner Music and the rest is history. Here is the thank you note I wrote to my friend after the project was completed. "Picked up the Tele "parts-caster" from Jeff this afternoon and I could not be more pleased! He finished the assembly much quicker than expected and the workmanship is first class! Jeff was a pleasure to work with and I can see why you have so much confidence in him. Everyone I dealt with at Corner was professional and courteous. Many thanks for the excellent referral!"

David W.

Yelp
I have been shopping there since 1980. Nuff said, but I will say more. Larry Garris is a Nashville legend. He has met the product and service expectations of some of the best musicians in the world since 1976. If you shop there, you know. Corner is the kind of place in Nashville that reminds me of Floyd's Barber shop on the Andy Griffith Show. I will drive 20 miles out of my way just to go see my buddy Ben Garris. You simply cant beat the best music store in the best music town! Yes, they have great products and provide great service, but way more than that, they have great people!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place. Quality people, great selection. Best in Nashville. I recently had Jeff set up my Les Paul and I couldn't be happier with it. Been a satified customer for 15 years.

Gerald S.

Yelp
Made a trip to Nashville this morning to to pick up a new amplifier. I think. I thought I would stop by corner music and look at some of their heritage guitars, I, I'm in the market for one.. Walk around the store for or for 45 minutes and not 1 employee acknowledged my presence or ask me if I needed assistance. They talked amongst themselves About the gear they had purchased and their new apartments is there new apartments where they were living. Stocking good product and having quantities on hand is important important but what sells a company to me is customer service. Is. Corner Music Failed miserably. I will take my business elsewhere.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
I am glad Corner moved to the east side. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the selection of Fender guitars is hard to beat, and the repair department is phenomenal. Jeff has over 20 years of experience in guitar repair and set-up. I never hesitate to take a guitar to Corner for service. It's cool they carry Guild acoustics, but I wish they also had Martins.

Yelp
What a groovy music shop in Nashville's 12 South neighborhood. It's such a great area to shop around so if you're a musician or music lover, you should definitely stop in. Our lyft driver is a drummer and he said that he loved this shop and the drum shop next door. Their the best in Nashville. The BF is a huge guitar lover and enjoyed getting to try out all of the different guitars and drool over the pedals. He had a blast looking around the store. On the plus side, it's also across the street from Edley's bbq which is definitely the best in Nashville!
google avatar

Yelp
Called about a piece of gear to see if they had it in stock. They told me on the phone that they did. Drove the 20 minutes to get there, stood around for a few minutes unacknowledged while they talked on the phone (by the way, you should take the more intense phone calls to an office). While standing there I noticed maskless folks just hanging around talking. Once off the phone, I found out they didn't have the gear via an associate just looking around for. Never bothered to look at an inventory list or anything. No real remorse from the associate either. What a waste of time.

Yelp
I tthink I got a good deal on a baritone guitar here. The guy that rang me up was very nice too.Overall it wasnt my greatest experience in a music store and certainly not my worst. The selection was good and noone was a jerk at all.

Marc R.

Yelp
I have bought 3 guitars from Corner... They have always been the 'real musicians' music store in Nashville. Great selection of acoustics with a nice new playing/listening room in the new store...definitely worth the drive across the river. Corner is 'Real' Nashville.

Yelp
Friendly staff and a few unique guitars, especially in the back rooms, but the guitars weren't as well-kept as other stores I've visited. Most of them were out of tune, not setup well, or had dust on them, and the store in general wasn't very clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Corner Music has everything you need, from guitars to repairs! Their new location off Dickerson pike, is huge. Stop in and check it out. You won't be disappointed

Yelp
Corner Music is the best music store I've EVER been to! I'm a beginner musician and started taking courses for guitar when my instructor pointed me in the direction of this place. My strings were buzzy and I didn't know the first thing as to why that was happening. Well, Nolan, the Guitar Doctor himself was amazing at getting my guitar in a condition that is better than when I I bought it! Honestly! He truly went above and beyond when it came to getting it to, as my instructor would say, "play like butter"! Seriously, I learned so much about my guitar throughout this experience as he was very knowledgeable and professional. The pricing for his services were very fair and affordable for a college student. This will be my go-to music supply store from now on!
google avatar

Yelp
Great store been shopping here since 1998. The staff is friendly, and they always have a great selection on the newest gear! Love my Marshall Studio Classic "Silver Jubilee head and cabinet." Glad to see they are a 5 star Gibson acoustic dealer, and recently brought back Gibson electrics. Keep it up I'll keep buying!
google avatar

Garrett M.

Yelp
The folks are here are kind... But take caution when taking your gear in for repairs. I took my amp to Corner to have a blown fuse repaired back in August, and received it a week and a half later, and the fuse was not fixed. I took it back again, and it was then repaired... Only for it to blow again a short several weeks later, despite being powered by an extremely safe source. This past week, I brought an acoustic guitar (with what was perfect action at the time, set up at Rock Block on Elliston Pl), to get a 1/2in hole drilled into the endpin slot to install a pickup. I received the guitar with the hole drilled, but the guitar was now missing the bridge saddle. I had to wait 2 days to contact them as they were closed. The bridge saddle had merely fallen on the ground, but my guitar was not checked before it's pickup a day later to see whether the saddle belonged to it. After getting the bridge saddle back on and restringing the guitar, the neck was warped by then and there was incredible buzz all over the fretboard. I did receive a good and thorough bass setup from Brandon. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. Be cautious, friends.

Yelp
New location is amazing. There is tons of parking. Found a great starter guitar for the little one for a great price. Not only was it a great price to begin with but they were able to bring the price down and include a free case as well. Everyone who works there are outgoing, knowledgeable and very friendly. Will be back.

Robert K.

Yelp
Hands down, the friendliest staff I've encountered! No egos, no bs...just a bunch of nice dudes who are really interested in helping you enjoy their gear and find what makes you sonically happy. I wanted to thank you for the great service and hooking me up with this amazing Yamaha FG-TA - my smile gets bigger every time I play it. Keep doing what you're doing fellas, you got a good thing going here.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab some guitar strings for my son as he was moving into Belmont University. Didn't know what we were in for! What started as a 3 minute trip for strings turned into a 40 minute adventure complete with a "pick card" on the house AND home-made cookies from one of the sales reps (delicious, by the way). Definitely will be a "hangout" for my son while in Nashville. All the employees were VERY nice! Highly recommend! Thanks fellas!

Yelp
This guitar shop has a great selection of instruments and really friendly staff. I was psyched to see they carried Born guitars, a lesser known brand that makes great guitars.

Yelp
Was just passing through Nashville on a road trip. Decided to stop to see if they had what I was looking for recording equipment. I found a mic stand I'd been looking at for a while, and it was only $22- compared to "retail 39.99" I'd only seen it for $35 on sale. Good location. Neighborhood is safe, very trendy.

Yelp
As a lifelong musician from a family of professional musicians, going to a music store is a little like stopping in at your favorite aunt's house: comfy, cheerful, and always good for a treat before you go. Corner Music is just such a store. The staff are wonderful. Scott FM sold me my first guitar, didn't sniff when I told him I was teaching myself, and had a handful of questions when I told him I'd played violin for fifteen years. He shared information on a teacher if I decided to get lessons. Most importantly, perhaps, the last thing he said was that I didn't need to be worried about teaching myself - most of the guys in the shop were self-taught. That was reassuring. I look forward to many more visits to Corner Music. I couldn't ask for a better place to buy my first guitar.

Yelp
Corner Music is a medium sized, independently owned music shop in the 12th Ave South district of Nashville. They have a good selection of keyboards and electronic synths, in addition to all the normal music shops stuff, like guitars, basses, amps, pro audio equipment, cords, microphones; you name it, they have it. They sell a few more boutique brands than your average Guitar Center, plus the staff is a lot more relaxed and knowledgeable. They have 'Rob Allen' bass guitars, which are really classy, and could be great museum pieces even if you never learn to actually play one of these basses. I was there to look at the new Moog 'Little Phatty' which they had on the floor. I got to dabble on the new synth for quite some time. I really like the size of this shop it has a pretty good selection, but still you can find a place to tuck yourself into and try out a new instrument without feeling too vulnerable. Corner music is definitely the place to visit if you want to avoid the chaos that can be Guitar Center on a Saturday where everyone wants to try out the new Marshall half stack with the volume at '11.'

Yelp
Went in to this store today to buy an audio interface for my new laptop software Logic Pro X. Not much to say other than great customer service and great help from my man Cody helping me understand the software better and helping me make the right purchase.
google avatar

Yelp
Out of town'ers that just stopped in to check out a local music store in Nashville. Everyone in the store was so nice and helpful. They encouraged us to pick up instruments and play and explained history of manufacturers and labels. Special shout out to Scott in the Acoustic Department. Thanks! If I were buying a new instrument, this is where I would be shopping.

Yelp
I love this place. As a beginning music producer, I've bought 75% of my starting studio equipment from this shop. I got some stuff from guitar center, but I felt better getting everything else from Corner Music. The people who work here are top notch. They know their stuff. Take a guy there named Ray. Is he there to help me buy something, get a sale for the store? Sure, I guess that's part of the business, but he's better than that. Classic guy, very kind, and he's answered all sorts of questions about my equipment, the best use of it, what my priorities in getting together a home studio should be. It's certainly paid off. I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of work I am doing, and I have Ray to thank for that. Yes, I research equipment online. I find options. But Corner Music has personality. I love that. Thanks for being more than just a music shop, but a business focused on being good people to other good people.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not actually a musician, but my guy is. We loved this store. Huge variety, reasonable prices, and super nice employees!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent place to do business. Great staff and good equipment selection. You can't go wrong with this music store and its personel attention to customer service.
google avatar

Hunt H.

Yelp
Corner Music is my go-to shop in Nashville for Keyboards and Guitars. When buying big ticket items, they'll work with you on a "nice price." They've always got plenty of knowledge on the equipment they sell and always allow customers to try equipment before buying - an important quality in an excellent instrument shop. Fork's Drum Closet, owned by the same folks, is worth a look even if you aren't a drummer. I Love Corner Music!

A W.

Yelp
I am all about bringing business to the small local stores especially as a percussionist/ukulele/pianist who constantly needs new supplies, but received the WORST customer service by one of the workers. I came to help repair (restring) one of my student's treasure toy guitars knowing her parents will not be able to afford it. The salesperson mentioned i should maybe consider getting a guitar ("They're only like $100) ... but as a public school music teacher, I mentioned I cannot afford to pay over $20 per student as this is my own pocket money. He then mocked my background and asked "Do you teach music or do you actually play music?" and I was ready to punch him in the face. I apologize for giving a bad rating to the store, but this salesperson should reconsider how he approaches his customers.
google avatar

Jimmy D.

Yelp
Just a warning to persons who are accustomed to shopping at businesses firmly rooted in reality/this century-NO REFUNDS here. Of course, the first I heard of this was when I brought back my unopened items to return about two weeks from date of purchase. Luckily I paid top dollar for the items as well...

HaileyTIffany M.

Yelp
Very good music store. Bought my guitar from here. At one point, the salesman told me he wasn't sure he could sell me a guitar that was better than the one I had, and to maybe come back later. I appreciated that. After coming back later and doing more research, I did end up finding a guitar I am extremely happy with. I had been to about ten music stores in the area. Corner Music is a store that consistently comes up in conversation among my group of professional (many of them signed to record deals) musician friends. Most of them are touring professionals, myself included. Our instruments are what we work with, so this is a very, very serious purchase for us. The staff is always attentive. I'm pretty skittish about music stores, I don't take how I'm treated lightly. I'm always happy with how I've been treated at Corner Music. They're respectful. I'v brought my instrument back several times for tune-ups and questions (not unusual as I use it constantly, for hours every day). A great store.

Daria M.

Yelp
Yesterday afternoon, everyone at Corner Music seemed to having themselves a grand old time: musicians trying out keyboards and guitars, staff members busily helping out customers or gleefully showing off their knowledge of A/V equipment. Corner offers your basic keyboards, electric and acoustic guitars, and electric basses. Their selection of A/V equipment (sound boards, PAs, mics, headphones, etc.) seemed big in relation to the rest of the store. There's a sense of community here that you wouldn't find at a corporate music store: flyers for guitar lessons and upcoming local shows on the door, a dry erase board tribute to the late musician Jimmy Reed on the wall. Listen up, kids! The most important thing to know about Corner Music is that they have a pastel pink Fender complete with flowery pickguard. Start saving up now, and you might be one day be the lucky owner of this gem.

Mittizen T.

Yelp
The place is small, a fraction of any big box store. Choices are, therefore, limited. Very limited. Also, they DO NOT allow you to return any items for a refund. The best you can do is a exchange or a store credit that expires in a year. Big box stores are better than this nonsense. Also thier goal seems to be to sell you the highest price item in the store instead of selling you just enough to cover your needs. Yes I know, buyer beware, but part of the reason for going in a store is to utilize thier expertise. If they are going to use my ignorance against me, then I'm better off shopping on the internet. I will NOT be shopping there again.
google avatar

Kenny H.

Yelp
This is possibly the best guitar shop Nashville has to offer. While you can find mainline brands, they also have a variety of boutique guitars and amps. The big sell for me is that they stock a good supply of parts and they have a pro audio section, not just guitars.
google avatar

D'artagnan D.

Yelp
Top-notch inventory. Talented salespeople who can play as well as sell... well, almost as well. Just be sure to research what you need and exhaust all your retail options, before you buy it here. The prices are high, and trades are slanted heavily toward the store (surprise, surprise). Cut past the posing you'll occasionally spot going on here. It's a good store committed to quality.
google avatar

A A.

Yelp
Best music store in town. Nicest salespeople you will ever meet, excellent merchandise on every inch of the floor, and off the beaten path. Feel good about spending your money locally and shop this place first before anywhere else.
google avatar

Danny R.

Yelp
The most impressive music store I've ever been into. The staff is incredibly helpful and encourage you to play their instruments and try things out. A lot of music stores are sadly more like music museums and make you feel like shouldn't touch anything or they're too quite and make you feel as if you shouldn't really turn on and amplifier to see what it sounds like but NOT corner music. The first member of the staff that I met handed me a guitar pick and led me to the guitars I was looking for. He allowed me to play just the way I needed to so that I got a good idea of what I was playing. I would recommend this place for all ages and skill levels.
google avatar

Donald R.

Yelp
Best music store in Nashville hands down. The selection is the best I've seen in any local music store and the prices are pretty much what you you would find on musiciansfriend.com. I came to get my guitar input fixed and the dude was super nice and did it fast and for free. I've been here many times and have always been pleased. Great staff, amazing selection, and in an awesome neighborhood. What more could you ask for? Definitely going to keep coming here for my guitar and bass needs.

George J.

Yelp
So I moved to Tennessee and have very limited options close by for needed work. My singer told me about Corner Music - the place to go even though we have to drive down to Nashville. These guys were friendly and supportive, got my guitar checked in and understood what I wanted (old guitar, don't want to do major work at this point). Jeff called me 10 days later and apologized that it took so long! This guy is swamped all the time! He had to take the bridge off (38 years of tough abuse) and soak it to get the adjusting screws moving. Set up is perfect, guitar looks great, he cleaned it up real nice. At this point, I don't have many opportunities to buy gear but will certainly be using Jeff for all my setups and other work.
google avatar

Yelp
Best shop in Nashville for music gear. If you need bass gear, see JD, he's the man! Their prices are fair and they take care of people. They also do a great job on set up's and repairs and are always friendly to musicians of all skill levels. It's also a pretty good place to meet other musicians.
google avatar

Yelp
what can i say about Corner Music. as friendly and helpful as it gets! the staff is oh so knowledgeable and they encourage you to try out any instrument they have. they have set up every bass guitar my son owns, and did so wonderfully and at a good price (and in remarkably short time!) from the sales staff to the guitar techs, these guys are a true pleasure to deal with. they also have instruments you are not going to find anywhere else and a good selection of used. i am going there later today to have some repairs done on my son's classic '69 Gibson EB-3 bass and I know that the work will be done right, at a good price and promptly. i wholeheartedly endorse them and look forward to many years of happy dealing in the future.

David W.

Yelp
This is an amazing music store with a great inventory and awesome staff. They were blowing out some old stock and I basically robbed them of two amazing G&Ls on a serendipitous weekend. It's a great open layout of a store where the focus isn't overwhelmingly about guitars so there's something for everyone here. The Gibson selection was incredible too. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable and I especially loved that the amp stations available to try out the guitars featured some great amps. I bought one guitar, phoned the store up later to see if the sale was still going on, and came back for the other! I even neglected to mention I needed the second one shipped out just like the first one and they waived the shipping fee for the second one since I bought two! The great on-site tech took care of a buzzing on the open D string for me easily. I even bought some accessories that they rounded off to an even hundo. Can't wait to do business again!

Yelp
Todd and Billy have both been very good to me in this store for the last few years.Couldn't recommend this store on a higher level. Truly a great experience and 2 of the best guitars in my collection have been from here. Where else can you find a pink champagne sparkle, double bound custom shop?
google avatar

Jeremy H.

Yelp
Took my Larrivee in to get an estimate for a tuner button repair. Jeff Marple took 2 mins to replace and repair the faulty tuner button, handed it back to me and said "You can just say that's under warranty". A free repair! I'll definitely be going back to him for a future set up or repair!

Joey C.

Yelp
Awesome shop. Helpful and nice staff. Good selection. Good prices. I recently bought a bass from these guys and they were extremely nice and there was no pressure or the usual sales pitch annoyances you get from some music shops. Just a "play whatever you want and if you have questions just ask". I love that kind of sales staff. When I did have questions I got knowledgeable answers. No bs. There aren't many good local shops left in the world so support the ones you like. And I like this one.
